CHAPTER 58
ALPHA MARK’S POV.
As soon as Ava stormed angrily out of my office, I felt a tidal wave of self-pity and helplessness crash over me, I couldn't contain the overwhelming feeling of it.
I slammed my fist hard on my desk, the force hard enough to split it into two halves if it wasn't strong, going on to push the files and papers on the table on the floor.
Breathing hard, I grabbed the nearest chair which was the one I sat on, and hurled it across the room, watching as it smashed into the walls and scattered into pieces.
“Alpha Mark, please you have to calm down.”Ash's voice echoed in the background, but I couldn't hear him clearly over the ringing in my ears.
I turned in the direction of the mini bar in the office and marched over to it like a warrior, with my focus first on the section where I had kept really expensive wine for celebration purposes, I swung my hands across it, and this action of mine caused all the wine bottles that were sitting pretty on the shelves to crash helplessly on the floor.
“Not that there is any reason to celebrate,” I tried to justify my action as I stared at the broken pieces of glass at my feet.
The sharp smell of alcohol immediately filled the room as the liquids in the bottle pooled out of the shards of glass.
Not satisfied with just destroying the first set of wine, with a guttural yell, I swept the rest of the wine bottles off the shelves, the sound of the glass shattering that sounded like raindrops soothing my soul.
Everything in the office became a target to me, as I marched around the office.
I grabbed the paintings on the wall, threw them on the floor, and stomped my feet hard on the wooden board until they shredded apart, my vision red with fury.
When I had done enough damage to a handful of the original artwork in the office, I went on to overturn the table and the rest of the chairs, the wreckage I was making in the office slowly building up around me.
The drawing Kendall had once given me, a drawing of us all together as a family, was now crumpled on the floor along with the other things I had destroyed and smeared with wine that had spread across the floor of the office.
“I have worked so hard for this,” I screamed with tears in my eyes.
“I have done everything possible to win her back, to prove that I would be a good father to the kids, and a better husband to her, and now someone has come out of nowhere to destroy all of it.”
“Alpha please!” Ash begged, standing helplessly by the door, his eyes following me around the office.
“You are only making things worse by doing this, we need to calm down and figure things out.”
His words barely registered in my mind, as my mind was a storm of memories and pains.
I thought about the countless date nights I always planned out with so much intention, the weekends spent playing with the kids, and the laughter and warmth that had engulfed my soul from being a part of their lives.
I couldn't believe all that was slipping away from me within the blink of an eye.
“I can't survive without her,” I blurted out, sinking to my knees amidst the destruction I had made.
“I can't imagine my life with her again, without getting to see the children. They mean everything to me.”
I looked up at Ash, my eyes filled with despair, “Why do I feel Martha has a hand in this?” I questioned.
“She must have found out about Ava and the kids and decided to punish me with it. She has always looked for a way to tear me down, I bet this is her way of getting back at me.”
Ash walked further into the office and knelt beside me, “We will find out who is behind this, Alpha, but for now, you need to get a grip of yourself, destroying your office isn't going to help in any way” He said calmly.
I nodded my head, “Destroying my office wouldn’t help in any way,” I repeated, staring blankly into the space ahead of me
“We need to find out who is behind this and bring the person to book,” I added.
“Yes, but first you have to go home now and rest your burning head, I will get the cleaners to take care of this mess.” Ash replied.
He swept his eyes around the office before he pulled me up on my feet and supported me out of the office.
As Beta Ash guided me toward the exit, I stopped abruptly.
“I don't want to go home just yet,” I stated, suddenly feeling the need to stay back in the office to clear up the mess myself instead of going back home like Beta Ash suggested.
I know fully well that I wouldn't be able to rest in any way, as the thought of my situation will not fail to run endlessly through my mind.
Instead of going home to stare blankly at the ceiling and allowing the situation I was in to eat up my mind, I think it is much better to stay back and distract myself from my thoughts by cleaning up.
“But why? You are not in the right frame of mind to continue working, and besides you can't do any work in the state of your office right now.” Ash replied.
“I want to clean up the mess myself,” I answered, and without saying any more words, I turned around and started heading back to my office.
When I got back to my space I could barely recognize, I went straight to pick up the crumpled family portrait Kendall had drawn for me.
A pang of guilt rushed through me as I held it between my hands, wondering why I had allowed my anger to damage the effort my little girl had gifted me with.
Staring deeper into the portrait that had all of us holding hands, my thoughts spiraled in despair.
Though the time I had spent with them was a short one, it felt like I had been with them from the beginning of it all.
I have gotten so used to being around them that I now wonder how I could continue living without them.
I can't just imagine my future devoid of them, the weight of the thought was crushing to my soul, and I had yet to fully understand what exactly was going on.
