The Evil
The Evil
HIM
The young omega quickly got up from the bed when he saw me arrive and bowed his head in respect for the presence of his Alpha. He had hand and nail marks on his face and neck.
— How are you feeling, omega?
— I'm fine, Alpha! Thank you for asking.
I was very grateful to him for protecting my female. It is well known how peaceful omegas are, and to prevent Nadja from being attacked, he simply put himself in front, taking the beating in her place.
I asked him to tell me everything that happened, and listened carefully, until he told me something that made me more uncomfortable than I would like to admit: My female was feeling suffocated by my presence.
— Luna Nadja didn't mean any harm, Alpha, she just wanted to help me.
— What exactly did she say?
— Uh…. She said she needed fresh air… um… When she found out I was washing the clothes of… of the female Vivi, she asked me to accompany her. I didn't know she was going to reprimand the female. I don't mind working, Alpha, I didn't want trouble.
Fresh air… My wolf howled inside me, feeling guilty. If I hadn't suffocated our female, she wouldn't have lied to scape, putting herself in danger in the first place.
— I understand, come to my office tomorrow, and we can discuss a task for you. Continue your report.
He continued, and I made him repeat several times what my Luna said about me. I thought she was as emotionally dependent as I was. I felt pathetic, a mature male, acting like a pup in heat, suffocating his young pregnant female.
After listening to him, I thanked him once more and left the gamma's cabin so they could sort things out. The sun had already set, and my wolf needed a run. I transformed and headed for the forest, with him running to calm his possessive instincts. Still, he howled through the night in sadness, believing that our Luna did not feel the same way about us. I tried to be rational, she was too young, much younger than me, she needed to make friends her age, have fun without me…
Most of the pack was asleep when I returned to the mansion. I wasn't very confident for an Alpha. Besides my female suffocating with my exaggerated presence, I mistreated her in a fit of anger. I was so nervous and worried that I couldn't control my temper.
That doesn't justify anything, Nadja is a Luna, and a good Luna, she was just too young and naive, with such a big heart, many cunning people took advantage of that.
Viviane was no fool, she wasn't sorry, she had no respect for the soulmate connection, nor for the Luna. If it weren't for the omega, she would have been assaulted, and perhaps lost our pup. It will take time for her to gain experience and cunning, I will be by her side to help her, but she cannot disobey me or challenge my position in public.
I wasn't born the pack's heir. It took me years to earn the trust and respect of the members, beyond simple fear. There is no loyalty to a leadership that is in that position out of fear; at the first chance, they will turn against it. Being too nice, forgiving those who attack her, will lead females to feel entitled to challenge her, and Nadja is not a warrior. The pack’s females wouldn't do such a thing, but what about Lunas from other packs, who have lost their territory and their males?
No one could take her place as my female, but by werewolf law, however, another Luna can challenge her if she considers her weak and doesn't have the pack's respect. We need to talk, calmly, without possessiveness and without emotion, as mates and as leaders of the Black Wolves.
I walked slowly, controlling my desire to see her, determined to give her the space she wanted and deserved, however, before I entered the mansion, I heard someone running.
— Alpha, I'm so glad I found you! Little alpha Rael is very sick and is calling your name. Luna Hir- Er… Hira rushed him to Lord Agar's cabin. Please hurry, he's very ill.
I missed my female, but I knew she was safe, and my pup needed me. I had been a negligent father these past few days and ended up causing the little alpha's illness. I felt like a piece of shit, a bad Alpha, unable to protect the omega, a bad mate, since my female felt suffocated by my presence, and a bad father, because my pup was emotionally ill because of me.
Furthermore, I called one of the guards and ordered him to ensure my female was eating, but, I thought it best he didn't mention anything to Nadja that I was the one who sent food to her, fearing she was angry with me and would reject the offer.
May the gods allow it to be only emotional, for diseases are rare among werewolves and only very serious diseases affect our pups.
I thanked the female, whom I identified as one of Hira's servants, and headed to the old man's cabin. He opened the door and I quickly entered, finding my little Alpha lying on the bed with a tearful Hira beside him, holding his little hand as he slept. Rael was pale, his lips purplish.
Upon seeing me, she stood up and hugged me, distressed.
— Derik, our pup is not well at all, I don't know what happened. He suddenly fainted and didn't open his eyes again.
Old Agar placed a cloth wet with some of his mixtures on Rael's forehead, before sighing and standing up to speak with me. I pushed Hira away from me with difficulty, before the Beast tore her face.
— Alpha, I examined the pup, there's nothing physically wrong with him, but he's visibly worsening.
— Derik, what will we do? I can't lose our pup!
She stared at me with a tear-streaked face, disheveled hair, and eyes that pleaded for salvation. Pitiful, yet, strangely attractive.
