Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Selene’s POV
“Lester! Did you see my sister?” I asked Lester as he passed in front of me. I had been looking for my sister for a while now.
I was planning to leave Darren in his care so I could do my duties and responsibilities as the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. But I couldn’t focus on my work because I was worried about my child. I was afraid something might happen to him like what happened before.
Dwight was in a meeting with the other Alphas to plan for the coming war. Lester frowned. “I thought she was with you and Keira, Luna,” Lester replied respectfully.
Now it was my turn to frown. So, it’s both Rose and Keira who were missing? “Maybe they’re just nearby. Please help me find them, Lester, if it’s not too much trouble for you.” I had a strange feeling, and I needed to find my sister.
Dawn, my wolf, was restless. Usually, when she’s like this, it’s because of our sibling connection—it lets us feel what the other is going through.
“Yes, Luna.” Lester walked away in a different direction. The power of being a TIC was showing—he was in his wolf form right now. I sighed and headed in the opposite direction, toward the back of the Pack House.
I set Darren down, holding his little hand. I found it strange how Rose could have gone missing when her scent was all over the Pack House. Keira’s scent stopped at the kitchen.
“Mom, can I play with Uncle CC later?” Darren suddenly asked as we walked toward the back, where the garden and fountain were located. He called my brother Crater “CC” because he still couldn’t pronounce words with an “R” properly.
“Of course, baby. But we need to find Aunt Rose first, okay?” I replied with a smile.
My baby pouted—he’s so cute. I pinched his cheeks, making him cross his arms and pout even more.
“Mom, I am not a baby anymore! Don’t pinch my cheeks. It hurts, you know.” Whoa, so he’s “not a baby” now? I raised my hands in surrender. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist.
“Come on, let’s go find your Aunt the wanderer.” That woman—she leaves without saying a word, even when she knows people are worried about her, and she even took Keira with her.
“Mom, is Aunt Yose playing hide-and-seek with us?” Darren asked. Honestly, it did feel like we were playing hide-and-seek right now, with us as “it.”
“I don’t know, big boy, but we need to find them. They’ve been gone for a while.” They weren’t anywhere in the Pack House, so we tried looking outside.
When we reached the garden, I frowned. There were four scents here—Keira, Josh, Rose, and another one I didn’t like at all. The smell irritated the tip of my nose. Darren kept sneezing. What is with this smell?
“Big boy, cover your nose,” I instructed. He nodded and covered his mouth and nose with his hands. I glanced around for anything suspicious.
My attention was caught when Darren suddenly shouted, “Mommy!” I turned to see him crouched down, picking something up from the ground. When he got it, he held it up to me.
“Mom, this is the bracelet I made for Aunt Yose,” he said. It was a bracelet made of red and white beads. What the hell?! Rose never loses her belongings—she’s one of the most careful people when it comes to her things.
My heartbeat quickened—faster and faster. If I had a heart condition, I’d already be on the floor by now. But because I’m half-werewolf, what I felt was pure fear.
“Dwight! Crater! Come to the garden!” I mind-linked to them. I wasn’t sure what tone my voice carried, but all I knew was something was terribly wrong.
I carried Darren in my arms. Even he could sense something was wrong, staying quiet as I held him.
“What happened, love?” Dwight asked as he arrived with Crater. I hadn’t even sensed them approaching.
I must have been too caught up in my worry because even my guard barrier was down. Tears blurred my vision as I looked at them—both wearing only shorts.
They must have rushed here in their wolf forms. “Sis, what happened?” Crater asked anxiously.
I showed them Rose’s bracelet. “Someone took Rose,” I said shortly, swallowing hard as if a heavy stone was stuck in my throat.
“Love, maybe she just forgot it there,” Dwight said as he approached me. I shook my head. “Rose would never leave something behind, especially something important to her. Darren gave that bracelet to her,” I explained.
Anything with sentimental value, Rose keeps and never forgets. “I agree with you, sis. I sense something strange here. Let me handle this—we need to find out what it is,” my brother said.
He sat down on the grass and closed his eyes. I frowned. Now was not the time to sit when Rose’s life could be in danger.
“Selene, trust me,” he said, still with his eyes closed.
Geez—sibling connection! I rolled my eyes and waited. His entire body began to glow silver.
Dwight and I gasped. Dwight knew I also glowed like that when I was feeling deep emotions.
What’s happening to him?
