Chapter 32

Chapter 32
Selene’s POV

“Ate! Come out of there!” My sister knocked on the door of mine and Dwight’s room. Two days had passed, but there was still no word on what had happened to my husband and son.

I couldn’t enter Dwight’s mind—he was blocking me out, which made me even more worried. How could I stay calm when my husband and son were outside the territory, with danger everywhere?

“If you don’t come out, you won’t get the surprise I have for you!” Ugh, why is my sister so stubborn? She’s been knocking for almost an hour, but I still won’t open the door.

And now she’s talking about surprises when we’re in the middle of a crisis.

“You’re so annoying, Moon Rose! I already told you! I’ll only come out when my husband and son are back!” I shouted at her. I heard her stomping her feet in frustration.

I could imagine her tugging at strands of her hair. I think my sister is frustrated with how I’m acting.

“That’s why you should come out now! Damn it! Kuya Dwight is already outside!” The moment I heard Dwight’s name, I jumped out of bed and opened the door.

Rose instantly dropped into a plank from shock because of how suddenly I opened the door. “Why didn’t you say that earlier? Where are they? Are they okay?” I asked her nonstop.

“Ouch, you’re asking all these questions but didn’t even help me up,” Rose said as she slowly stood, still holding her nose.

“I’ve been telling you that, but you were too busy throwing tantrums to listen to me,” she added while rubbing her nose. How was I supposed to know that’s what she meant?

“You can scold or hit me later—just tell me where they are now.” I said excitedly, dragging her along. I’m just so happy my family is back home. I swear, I’ll never let this happen again.

“But why didn’t Dwight come to see me? He’s already here?” I asked, confused, while we walked out of the Pack House.

Then the smell hit my nose. I looked at Rose. She knew what it meant. “You see, Ate, when Kuya Dwight rescued Darren, uhm...mmm...how do I even say this?” she said, whispering the rest—but with my werewolf hearing, I knew something was wrong.

Even as I came down the stairs earlier, I already felt something unsettling. That’s how us Aeons are—we sense danger or misfortune in our surroundings.

“Rose, what happened?” I asked, calm but anxious. She looked into my eyes. I could see the sadness in hers.

This woman only gets serious when something is truly wrong. “It’s just...Ate...” Why is she hesitating?

Everything just gets more complicated when she doesn’t explain. Where’s her usual talkativeness? “ROSE! WHAT IS IT? TALK!” I snapped, annoyed.

“Don’t yell! I’m not deaf! I’m just nervous!” she yelled back. Seriously! Why not just say it straight? I hate this! “Are you yelling at me now?” And so the shouting match began.

“I wouldn’t yell if you didn’t yell at—” She stopped mid-sentence when someone interrupted us. “Luna, Rose, Alpha is—”

“Don’t butt in!” Rose and I shouted in unison. We growled, making someone nearby shrink back in fear.

I heard a whimper and looked to my side.

Keira was standing beside us with her head bowed. Shit! I didn’t even notice she was there. I was too focused on fighting with Rose that I didn’t sense her scent.

“Ahmm, sorry Keira, we didn’t mean to yell at you…” I apologized. I may not be just an ordinary werewolf, but I know how to say sorry—especially when I’m at fault.

“Sorry too, Kei. What did you need from us?” my sister asked gently. She may be tough on others, but if you get close, you’ll see how kind she really is.

“Alpha is calling you. He said you need to hurry,” Keira said, bowing again. I lifted her face with my finger.

“Never bow your head when it’s just us, Keira. You’re our friend—not just a packmate. Again, I’m sorry,” I said seriously. She nodded. I hugged her, and so did Rose.

“Enough drama—what’s really going on? Why do you all seem so uneasy?” I asked the question that had been bothering me since earlier.

“Luna, your other brother... Alpha found him too…” Keira informed us quietly. I slowly turned to my sister behind me as we walked.

“Is this true, Rose?” I asked.

She nodded solemnly. That explains her nerves. But nothing bad happened, right? “Yes, Ate. But please—whatever you see, don’t do anything that could hurt any of us, okay?”

Why do I feel like they keep reminding me not to make rash decisions? Okay, fine! I know! Sometimes I do things without thinking. Take note: sometimes.

“Okay, fine. But why didn’t they just bring him to the Pack House? Why bring him to the forest?” I asked, confused. I mean, we have a house.

It would be better to welcome our brother there. “Lu—Selene, your brother’s condition... it’s not good,” Keira said.

The moment I heard that, my urge to find my brother grew stronger. I used my werewolf speed to follow the faint, unusual scent that matched mine and Rose’s.

Dodging and weaving through trees, I slowed down as I saw the Pack Members forming a circle. They stepped aside for me and Rose, who had followed behind.

I saw a wolf—just like us, just like Rose. But what happened to him?! Why was he covered in blood? The Pack Doctor was checking on him.

Is this really my brother? Mom, is it? Then I heard Dawn’s voice like thunder in my mind: “He is our brother, Selene. Crescence told Moon and me.”

I looked at Rose. She nodded, tears in her eyes.

“Love.” I turned toward the voice and immediately hugged my husband and son. I showered Darren with kisses—he was in Dwight’s arms. “Are you okay, baby?” He nodded and pointed at my brother’s wolf form. “Mishtey, save me.”

“How did this happen? How did you find him, Dwight?” I asked. He shook his head and pointed to my sister.

“That’s not important right now, Love. We have to save your brother. He’s not shifting back—his wolf is too weak. He needs emotional support from his sisters so the Pack Doctor can treat him.”

My brother’s condition was pitiful.

His body was full of scratches, his silver fur stained with blood. Who did this to him? I walked closer and whispered, “Brother, it’s me, Selene… Can you please shift back so we can treat your wounds?”

No reaction.

“Bro, it’s me, Rose… your other sister. Please listen to what Ate said…” Rose whispered from the other side. Still no response. What do we do now? I felt helpless. God! Mother, how can we help him? Please… don’t let us lose him.

Hear me. Talk to me. Just this once—please. “Selene, Rose.” A voice rang in my mind. Rose and I looked at each other.

“Mom?” Rose asked.

Only we could hear her. It must be our family bond.

“The one and only, your ever-gorgeous mother.” I rolled my eyes.

I know she’s our cool mom, but could she tone down the ego right now? Hello? This is serious!

“I saw it, Selene. Don’t be so negative. This is rare, so let me enjoy it,” she said proudly. We just stared blankly. She really is cool, huh?

She even used the word “negative.” Wow. “Mom, please stop talking. We need your help with our brother,” Rose said. Ha! One point for Rose, zero for Mom.

“I heard that, Selene,” she warned. I laughed. She was lightening the mood. She wanted us to stay calm. “My beautiful daughters, just like you two, your brother is stubborn. So the only way is to do it your way. Hahaha. I have nothing to do with that brat. Geez! He’ll age me early.”

I mentally slapped myself. Thanks for the huge help, Mom. I said sarcastically in my head.

“Watch your tone, young lady. Anyway, I’ll go now. You’re smart—you’ll figure it out. Bye!” she said.

The connection between the three of us faded, and we turned our attention back to our brother. “How can we make him shift back if he won’t listen to us?” Rose asked, frustrated.

I shrugged. How indeed? Mom said he’s just as stubborn as we are... could it really be that simple?

I grinned mischievously. “Dawn, can you ask his wolf what their name is?” I asked my wolf. After a few moments, she returned.

“Crater Crescence Night.” Well, well, brother.

“Crater Crescence Night! If you don’t shift back right now, I swear I’ll break all four of your legs!” I shouted.

Rose was stunned. The surrounding wolves jumped in surprise.

Oops. Maybe I overdid it. I might’ve scared them.

I heard a grunt. Slowly, my brother shifted back into his human form.

That’s how you tame your hard-headed siblings. Rose stared at me, jaw dropped.

I winked at her. “Hey, pick your jaw up—it fell.” I said, turning to my brother who was now groaning.

“So noisy. Someone’s trying to sleep here…”
