Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven
Daniel's POV
I watched them stare at me with fear raging in their eyes and I was happy with that. "What were you discussing about!" I asked them and they moved away from each other.
Abigail was visibly shaking while my Beta was staring at me with fear. I didn't need him to do my bidding. Funnily enough, it wasn't as if I was thinking about her or had any good plans for her.
Her lips quivered while my Beta coughed softly. "I was just telling her her role, sir." He replies fearfully. I didn't wait till he completed his words before growling.
They didn't have the right to discuss about me behind my back, if they did, it was certainly because they were trying to stir up strife that would surely backfire on them.
"Alpha, why don't I go check out the workers at the mine?" Jakes replied.
I gave him a curt nod which he responded sharply to. I was sure that he was probably thanking his stars that he was finally free from my clutches. I would make sure that he regretted butting into my issues with the wolf-less girl.
"Now, you listen to me. I know that you must have been harboring ideas in your head but one thing is certain. You will not bear my pups. Do you understand that?" I thundered.
My wolf was going crazy in my head, angry that they deceived him into taking this wolfless person as a repayment. Her parents had a query to reply to.
She was going to remain in this room until she paid for her father's sins. They thought it was wise to give me this... My thoughts were cut short when I heard her sobbing.
I growled again in warning and she stopped making any sound. "What do you want this time, weakling?" I asked her and she stared at me for a minute, her eyes moistened with tears which I didn't even care about.
My muscles flexed. I hated weakness. I didn't tolerate it. My pack wasn't built on spinelessness. I encouraged everyone to be very tough. Even the least person in my pack was a very good fighter.
I assessed her a bit and knew that she was weak, probably couldn't fight to save her life. I didn't want anything that would destroy my bloodline.
Her presence was disturbing me and I regretted ever taking her. I should have taken the second sister who was very proactive.
"She's the only one that can bear your child." I heard Jake's voice ringing in my head.
That didn't mean that I would fall for that at all. I was here to make sure that there was nothing that would contaminate my bloodline.
"Tell me, darling. What are the lessons that you want to learn here?" I asked her dryly. She was going to face hell, as a punishment for her father.
She blinked in confusion but I smiled.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Exactly what I said. You are going to pay for your father's sins. Since he refused to tell me the truth that you're useless."
Her eyes closed for a minute and mumbled under her breath. "What did you say?" I inquired and she didn't say a word.
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Nothing, sir." She looked downwards and I saw a flash of her skin, fueling my desire.
"I thought as much." I replied.
A few hours later, I heard a knock on the door and I grunted for the person to come in.
"Daniel, why didn't you tell me that you were bringing a woman into this house and not even that alone, she's going to bear your pup? Who even does that?" Laurie's voice pierced through the calm night.
I was waiting for her since forever. I was even thinking that it was taking too long for her to show up. "How are you doing, Laurie and why are you making a fuss out of something that I can't control?" I replied her making her open her mouth in shock.
I was sure that she was probably thinking about what to say to me but wasn't able to come up with anything.
"You're not even sorry that you didn't inform me? I thought we told each other everything!" She exclaimed.
Now I knew where she was coming from but I growled nevertheless. Was there something that was holding her down from doing what she should?
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to speak in that tone but Daniel. It's unfair, I shouldn't be the last person to know about this. I was acting like a fool when I was told."
I raised my head from the lamp that shone over the book that I was reading.
"If you know that I make the right decisions, why are you fretting about what is not even important? I mean, it's just what it is. I don't think she can even bear my heir. She's weak. I am even thinking of sending her back to her pack." I replied.
Laurie's face softened as she checked the implication of my words. I saw a gleam enter her eyes and I rested against my chair, perusing every emotion that crossed her face. "If you're going to send her back, why don't you do that already?" She asked me and I didn't say a word.
"I will do things my way." I replied, shutting down that conversation.
"Hey, I was thinking that you'd like to come over to my place tonight, I made some delicious steaks just the way you like it." She winked invitingly and I didn't say a word.
"Aren't you interested in finding out what I cooked? It's quite different from the usual recipe." She cajoled me and I smiled at her.
"I'll be there." I replied curtly so that she would exit as soon as possible and so that I could quickly finish up with my job.
"Babe, I'll be expecting you."
"Make sure that you don't wear panties tonight." I winked.
A harsh knock diffused the air. " Alpha, there's been a fire at the mine." Jake's voice boomed from outside the door.
