Abigail's POV
I shivered against the wall watching the retreating figure of the woman who had claimed to be my protector. She said that she was going to help out whenever I needed yet refused to state her name where was that even done? These people really thought that I was dumb.
The chains rattled softly and I looked up.
My legs were jittery at this point but I didn't want to show it.
It was the regal Laurie. She was finding it difficult to bear the stench of this place.
"I see that you're feeling very pompous. You make me sick." She muttered.
Huh, I thought that was supposed to be my line because from everything that I had seen, I knew that she was just acting childish. I didn't utter a word. She was not thinking straight. I felt for the man who made her his wife. How did he cope with such a nagging persona? I couldn't for the life of me imagine that I would ever be in that position and not have something to say about it more like kicking her away.
"Are you going to play the deafness card?"
There we go again with the baseles insults. I was once in a high position but wasn't found misbehaving the way she was doing. "What do you want from me?" I replied softly.
Her eyes glowed in the dark cell. If glares could kill I swear, I'd be ten feet beneath the ground, but luckily for me. It didn't, so I was fine and I was only waiting to see what she had to do. It was a lot of mess watching her act like I had wronged her in some type of way. I wasn't even going to say a word.
"For you to vanish to the hole you crawled out from."
"I don't know... Why do you hate me so much Luna! For all I know, I've never offended you in any way. You know what it is. I can't fathom if it's the idea of me that pisses you off or the fact that your husband might prefer me."
I whispered but was sure that she could hear me. Her gaze narrowed darkly at me but I didn't care for her opinion, it was either she let me be or she found a way to make herself happy. She wouldn't steal my joy, I wasn't going to permit that.
"You have the audacity to talk back at me? Who the hell let you live? I know what to do with you. My husband will never like someone like you. I heard he rejected you when he was about to get down. If I know anything about any man that means that he doesn't like you too much to even have sex with you, you whore!" She fired at me.
I was stumped by that statement but I smiled. Ignoring her was the best way to go about this so that I didn't stoop down to her level. "Since you know that I possess nothing that might interest your husband, why then are you particular about me? You have other women to compete against. I'm the least threat yet you focus all your attention on me. I dare say that I must be more special don't you think?"
She shot me a torrid glare but I wasn't fazed. It was a usual thing that she said to me. I guess she was going to smack me one of these days though. Instead of her saying what she wanted she turned and walked away.
I sighed and laid to sleep. It was as if there was an unusual wind blowing into the room and I never felt more at peace. That lady sucked the air with her bad energy and I'm not even sorry that I replied to her with the same energy with which she does. It was going to make her think twice before ever saying any naughty word to me.
I had not concluded my thoughts when I felt a wave of water hit me, trickling down to my pants while I tried to find out the cause. Oh my goodness, it was nothing but the only Luna holding a bucket of water before speaking.
"Take her out and flog her till she begs for death."
I was filled with anger because what the hell was wrong with her? The guards dragged me out but I kept staring at her. She was just a pain in the rear but she was soon going to be dislodged. I didn't have the time for this nonsense at all. It was either they found a way to make sure that I got out of the hellhole or killed me.
I made an attempt to run but at the same time thunder cackled in the sky. Well, I think that this was a sign telling me not to try to do anything that would land me in trouble whether now or later. It was not going to end well. I could already feel it in my bones.
My eyes gazed at her for a minute before I finally surrendered myself to be whipped. At the first crack, I flinched but that was all. The rain came down in torrents, almost washing away everyone who was involved in the practice, but my gaze was fixated on the witch who made it her life's mission to get rid of me.
Was Alpha Daniel aware of this situation? I scoffed. Even if he was, what was the assurance that he would rescue me? I guess it was time that I finally made peace with my situation.
"Luna, the rain is getting harder and we can hardly see what we are doing!" One of the warriors yelled.
"Leave her to die there!" She yelled before heading to the house.
"Oh, you're so going to get it when I finally find my way out of this place." I vowed.
