Chapter 100

Helene.

"I know you think I'm just a rebellious teenager who ran off from home just because and even though you wouldn't be completely wrong to think that, I did have my reasons for leaving but before I get into that, allow me to answer the questions you just asked," I said, trying to start the conversation however I can.

I would have never imagined that I'd be telling Hunter about myself anytime soon but I could sense that something was wrong somewhere and he seemed desperate for me to give him an explanation.

"The first thing you asked was who I was but you already know my name's Helene and as for where I'm from, well, I'm not too sure how well you know the northern packs but, have you perhaps heard of the Blue Moon Pack? If you haven't heard of them, feel free to do your research 'cause that's the pack I was born in," I admitted, trying not to look at his face for too long.

I was hoping he didn't know my pack because I don't expect us to be in the good books of any other pack and I won't be surprised if the only things they say about us are negative.

"That certainly explains the blue eyes," he commented with a soft chuckle before taking a sip out of his drink and I did the same.

"Thankfully, we aren't the only ones with blue eyes, or else, you'd have figured me out a long time ago," I responded with a dry chuckle.

"Anyway, this one may come as a surprise but, it also turns out the Alpha of that pack happens to be my father which means, I'm an Alpha's child and that would also explain why my wolf is so huge," I told him, expecting to see a surprised look on his face but sadly, I was disappointed.

"You don't look very surprised," I pointed out.

"Am I supposed to be?" he asked.

"Well, duh! I just confessed to you that I'm an Alpha's kid and you don't even have any sort of reaction on your face. Do you not find my reveal exciting in any way?" I asked.

I knew that I was sounding childish but it just came to me as a surprise that he had no reaction to finding out who I was and I couldn't help but wonder why that was the case.

He sighed. "Listen, Helene, I don't know how subtle you think you've been but you didn't do a good job hiding who you were. I mean, I already had a feeling that you belonged to an important family so I'm not very surprised to hear you say that you're Alpha's daughter," he replied and even though I was slightly disappointed to hear that, I decided against dwelling on it.

"Now that I've finally told you who I was and where I'm from, are you going to tell me the reason you asked?" I questioned and he suddenly grew silent.

"Stop trying to invade my emotions, sweetie. I can feel you trying too hard," he pointed out and I guiltily looked away from him.

I was trying to read his thoughts since he wasn't saying anything and his silence was bothering me cause it was unusual.

"I wouldn't have had to try doing that if you weren't being so suspicious, Hunter. I'm getting this vibe that you have something to say to me but you're holding yourself back from saying it and I just want you to be honest with me regardless of what it is that is going on," I said to him, hoping that would be encouraging enough so that he can talk to me and stop leaving me in the dark.

"Before I get into that, can you tell me why you left your pack? I mean, it's not very normal for an Alpha's daughter, who everyone probably thinks has everything available to just pack up and leave so I can't help but wonder why you chose to take such a dangerous risk knowing very well that you could have gotten yourself in very serious trouble," he mentioned and I was already expecting him to ask since I would be curious too if I were in his place.

"Going back to what I said earlier about you thinking that I'm probably just a rebellious teenager, well, it all boils down to typical reasons why someone like me who hasn't experienced life outside my pack would just choose to get up and run off from home. I could no longer endure my parent's rules, so I chose to run," I answered, not very sure if I should go deep into details.

The reason I wasn't sure about explaining in detail to him wasn't that I had any problem doing that but because talking about it was quite embarrassing for me mostly because my father's actions were nothing to be proud of and I would feel so embarrassed to even mention the things he says and does.

"Why do I feel like that's an incomplete story? You don't seem like you'd be stupid enough to just run up just for those reasons cause as far as I'm concerned, everyone at some point hates their parent's rules, however extreme but it doesn't mean they'd just run off from home into unknowing territory while risking their lives. So why don't you tell me the real reason you chose to leave?" he questioned and I shrugged.

"Permission to pass on it?" I requested.

"I can only do that if you give me a valid reason why you can't answer me. Did something bad happen?" he inquired insistently and I'm guessing he's not going to stop asking until I give him the response he's looking for.

"So the thing is, my pack is wired quite differently from yours in the sense that there are so many things that are allowed here that aren't allowed back home. My father is unfortunately a misogynist so he doesn't allow the females in the pack the freedom to do quite a lot of things and he also treats women however he pleases. As you may have noticed, I'm not the type that can be quiet when I don't like something so I always end up arguing with him and as you can imagine, it never ends well for me," I explained.

"What happens when you two argue?" he asked.

"Well, most of the time, I usually end up getting a beating and in some extreme cases, he would beat me and then lock me up for a few days, weeks, or months, usually depending on the gravity of the offense, according to his standards," I answered and this has to be the first time I was openly telling somebody else besides Stella, about my father's physical abuse.

I usually don't like talking about it because I feel like a lot of people would not believe me and even if they did, the best they would do was just pity me and tell me sorry and that is what I hate the most.

"So you're saying that you had to leave home because you could no longer bear your father's abusive behavior?" he asked and I nodded affirmatively.

"If you don't believe me, I still have a few scars on my body that can prove that I'm not lying and I have no problem showing them to you if you want to see them," I said when I noticed the strange look he had on his face.

"It's not like I don't believe you, Helene and I certainly would not disrespect you like that by asking you to show me your scars. I'm a little quiet because I have a lot on my mind right now and what you just said is making me rethink a few things," he replied.

"And what exactly is this thing you're thinking about you've had something on your mind since you showed up at my door earlier and the expression on your face is starting to get worrisome," I said, hoping he would just get to it cause it's obvious that it has something to do with me.

"So the truth is, before coming to see you today, I already found out that you were the Blue Moon Pack Alpha's daughter and I only kind of came to see you today so that I can get a confirmation from you," he started and I'm immediately taken aback.

"What do you mean by you already knew who I was? How could you have known?" I asked, not believing it because there was no way he could have known.

"Were you perhaps investigating me behind my back? Is that how you eventually found out?" I asked.

I would be very upset with Hunter if it turns out that he was still secretly investigating me even after we already concluded that we weren't going to try to pry into each other's personal lives.

"I certainly didn't break my promise of not prying into your life or trying to find out who you are but a message suddenly came in today from your father and he's asking that we return you home as soon as possible," he informed and I felt my heart immediately fall to the pit of my stomach.
