Chapter Seventeen

The morning after the night before was something that I had only heard of in movies and books but yet here I am sitting in bed reminiscing on the events the unfolded the night before, and the feelings.

Annoyingly there was one person that I couldn’t get out of my head and as much as I tried to get my thoughts away from him, they always decided to fall back onto the man himself: Alpha Theo.

Who had asked me to be his Luna only 12 hours ago—which was something that I was still considering, no matter how stupid anyone thought I was for not saying yes instantly.

Being a Luna was the biggest responsibility in the world and the fact that I had only lost my virginity last night showed me that I was absolutely not ready for that.

But my inner wolf was stronger than I was—which was annoying. All she wanted was to run straight to her Alpha and please him, tell him yes and mate with him. We were now forever drawn to one another, which explained why I was feeling these things.

I crawled out of bed, took another shower—trying to somehow clean myself of the night before’s actions—and walked back down to my assigned room, hoping and praying to hell that Ruth didn’t see me. She would be crushed if she knew what had happened.

“You’re still here? I thought you had been sent home, your room was empty all night” I flipped around to see a very surprised Ruth and five other girls who looked even more surprised to see me.

“Yes” I nodded, trying to come up with something to say. “I was sent home, but they kept me here”

“Why?” She raised her eyebrows at me while the rest stood in silence.

“My dad, he’s not well, so they’re allowing me to stay a little longer and volunteer tonight at the Ball to cheer on all of you” My hands clapped together. That seemed believable.

“Oh” She nodded to herself. “Okay, I hope he’s alright “He will be, thank you” I tugged at her arm and nodded to my room. “Can I have a chat with you?” My gaze looked at all the girls who were still staring at us. “In private?”

“Yeah, sure” She smiled and walked inside my room. “What’s up?”

Closing the door behind me and locking it, I took a seat on the bed and squinted my eyes at her, not quite sure what to say. “I was actually going to ask you the same thing. How’s it going with the process? I’ve not seen you in a whole twenty hours or so...”

“Are you alright? You seem a bit off” She grimaced at me and pulled back, shaking her head. “Anyway, yes. I’m amazing!”

“Good! I’m very glad” Glad she avoided the questions that is.

“Honestly” She leaned in, whispering to me. “I think that I have this. All these other girls have no clue about anything, I totally have the upper hand on everyone. And now that you’re here cheering me on, it’ll be great!”

My blood ran cold and I tried to cheer up my face. “Wow! I believe in you. Really, it’ll be good.”

“You’re so cute” She smiled at me before jumping up. “What was it you wanted to tell me?”

“Oh,” I batted my hand at her, “it’s nothing. I just wanted to say how proud I am of you. Even though I’ve only known you a week or so, I feel like we’ve became really good friends and I genuinely would love to see you succeed in life, in anything really!” I stopped myself before it became too over bearing.

“Isabella!” She pulled me into a tight hug. “I love you, when I’m Luna I won’t forget you”

I pulled my lips into a line, trying to smile. “Thank you?” It was more of a question than a statement.

“Look, I gotta go get ready for tonight but I’ll see you at the Ball? We all get taken away in our own cars so I’ll see you there!” She kissed me on the cheek and walked over to my door, closing it behind her as she left.

Letting out a sigh of relief at finally being alone, I slumped back on the bed and starfished. Thoughts racing through my mind and my inner wolf playing a tug of war with my subconscious.
