Chapter Eighteen
I flipped over in the bed, turning to the next page on my book. It had been about an hour or so since Ruth had left me to go and get ready and my stomach was still in knots about the whole ordeal.
A gentle knock at the door made me look up and freeze. Placing Charlotte’s Web down, I walked over to the door and half expected some kind of band to serenade me but was instead met with a small box, wrapped delicately in a red ribbon with a small handwritten note on top of it.
Looking both ways down the hallway, I tentatively picked it up and brought it back into my room, placing it onto the bed and taking a step back. It didn’t seem heavy enough to have some kind of weapon or anything strange in it so I think I can cross that off.
My eyes scanned to the tiny note that was under the ribbon and I gently slid it out, reading the front. My name was in dainty handwritten letters scribed across the front and opening it made my heart flutter.
So that you will be the belle of the ball. See you there.

Confused, I undid the ribbon and opened the box up, my hand flying to my face when I saw the most delicate yet expensive-looking necklace I had ever seen, accompanied by earrings and a bracelet, all decorated with large diamonds and royal bling. Underneath them was a smaller box with silver heels inside that complimented the jewellery perfectly. And then finally the piece de resistance: the dress.
It was a deep green that complimented my tanned skin perfectly and hugged my body in all the right places, coming in at my waist and falling down my legs to the floor. My favourite part was the neck piece, it looked like it was handmade and sat gorgeously on my shoulders.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I felt beautiful.
The idea of me becoming the pack's Luna was never something that I had ever dreamed of in a million years. It was always a position that I had hated because the women were made to serve the men. But being with Theo yesterday, and talking to him, something felt different. It was like we were equals and he thought that too, he didn’t think of himself to be in a higher rank than me and in fact he was attempting to court me into coming to the Ball with him. So maybe things were different?
Looking at myself in the mirror, I nodded my head. I would go to the Ball tonight and test the waters, going there wouldn’t hurt and it would give me a chance to speak with him.
After applying very minimal makeup to the best of my ability and giving my hair loose curls, I took one last look at myself, placing my hands onto the bathroom counter and taking a deep breath. “You look good. You can do this. Don’t be a coward.”
And with that, I stepped out and into the hallway, walking down to where I was told my car would be to take me to the Ball.
