Chapter 183

Chapter 183
Renée's POV

I sucked in a deep breath as I watched Alex from the middle of the room.
Okay, Renée.
Focus.

My hands fell to my side with my palms open and I slowly closed my eyes.

I tuned out every thought and focused on the sounds, scents and things around me.
The soft breeze that blew the windows, the sharp scent of the flowers and plants around me, the silent breathing of Alex, and even Dylan's loudly beating heart outside the door.

Yes. There it was.
I was completely focused.

Then, I suddenly took a deep breath, and immediately, the energy from everything I had focused on hit me all at once.
Goddess, it was working.

My body shook violently as I managed to focus on garnering enough power and energy as I desperately tried to summon Evelyn and Freya.

I was barely holding on and my teeth were chattering at this point.

Then as if by magic, I suddenly felt two hands holding mine on either side of me and I knew it was them.
My body relaxed slightly as they shared the weight of the energy I was carrying.

Then, the calm before the storm.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at both of them. They both nodded at me with a small smile before I closed my eyes again.

Now, the storm.
They directed their energy to Alex through me.

Summoning them was child's play.
This was worse.
My entire body shook as I felt my legs about to give out but they held me strong and I held on as much as I could as I directed all that energy to him.

Not yet, Renée. Not yet.
A scream tore from my throat at the extremity of the energy that ripped through me.
Harsh wind blew at me through the entire process.
I could feel my body falling apart as I continued to scream, before finally, it stopped.

It was over.
Everything came to a halt and I finally opened my eyes.
My legs wanted to move but they couldn't. I felt myself falling but Evelyn and Freya supported me.

They held on to me as they helped me get to Alex, and I sat on the bed.

I couldn't even speak as I stared at them.
A small smile managed to crack through my exhaustion.
I hoped they knew how thankful I was.

They stared at me with worry before nodding and within the blink of an eye, they were gone.

I was panting heavily as I turned to Alex.
My movements were slow and my entire body shook like I had a bad cold.

I slowly raised his shirt up to inspect the wound.
Relief flooded my system as I realized it was gone.
Completely.
No trace of anything.

As if on cue, his voice filtered through my daze.

“Renée?” he whispered softly, his voice a little hoarse.

My eyes slowly moved to his as a gasp left my lips, and tears rolled down my cheeks. I dragged myself upwards and grabbed his face, staring into his eyes. His hands wrapped around my waist and I just kept on crying.
I couldn't speak, I couldn't do anything else. I was barely holding on. It felt like it was time for me to leave, and I was using my last energy.

A small smile made its way to his lips and I felt happiness rip through my chest.
That was all I needed.

I managed to smile softly and summoned every energy left in me.
My chest ached.

“I love you” I whispered and he smiled softly.
I felt myself slide off as his arms gripped my waist steadily.
He was talking but I couldn't even hear anything anymore as I felt my body give up on me.

……………………..

Alexander's POV

“Renée!” I yelled as she went limp in my hands.
What the hell was going on?
Confusion and panic flooded my system as the door flew open.

Dylan, Emma and my mom stood frozen at the door.

“Alex!” my mother screamed.

It was almost like they couldn't believe what they were looking at.

“Help me!” I yelled as I held on to Renée.

Dylan was the first to snap out of it as he rushed in and held on to her.
I felt relief as he carried her and placed her on the other side of the bed.
“Emma, come here” Dylan said and Emma finally moved, running to check on Renée.

My arms were so stiff, I could barely move them.
I struggled to get on my feet as my mother ran to my side.

“Are you okay?” Sasha asked as I stumbled, her hands on my back.

“Sit down” she ordered and the tone in her voice made me know she was being serious.

I reluctantly agreed as I sunk into the bed and turned towards Emma and Dylan.

Emma was fusing over her.

“She's deathly cold” she stated and my eyes widened in fear as I watched in horror.

“What's wrong with her?” I asked, my eyes darting to Dylan's but he couldn't look at me.

Emma checked her pulse and her eyes widened in horror.

“She's not breathing, pulse is slowing. She's going into cardiac arrest” Emma suddenly yelled.

“Dylan, get a medical team!” she ordered and he ran out of the room with my mother.

“What?!” I yelled. What the hell is going on?!

“Alex, pull yourself together. I need you right now. Can you move?” She asked and I nodded frantically.

“Good. I'm going to give her chest compressions and you'll give her two rescue breaths on my count, okay?” she said and I instantly moved closer to her.

And then she started counting as she pressed on her chest repeatedly.
It felt like my life was crumbling in front of me. This had to be a dream, right?

“Now Alex!” She said as she moved back and I did as I was told.

And then she continued.

“Come on, Renée!” Emma said, somehow managing to remain calm.

I grabbed her hand. Come on baby.

Just as I was about to proceed with the rescue breaths again, she suddenly sucked a deep breath in, followed by light coughing.

Emma stopped and sighed in relief.

“Renée?” Emma said as she checked her.
As if on cue, the medical team ran inside with so many devices.

Emma led them and they set up drips and all.

I just sat and watched. Completely shocked.

When they were finally done, the team left, save for a doctor.

“She'll be fine” the doctor said.

“She's breathing on her own again. The drip is just to help with strength” he explained, before he left.

“She's basically just sleeping right now,” Emma added, trying to ease my worry.

But I still couldn't move.

“What happened?” I whispered as my body grew weak.

I fell back on the bed.

“Alex” Dylan said out of worry.

“I'm fine, just tired” I said.

“That's expected, you literally just woke up after being out for over two weeks and you had to get up right away” Emma explained.

“Two weeks?!” I asked and she nodded.

“Do you mind if I inspect you?” She asked and I shrugged.

She raised my shirt up and I watched as her eyes widened in shock.

“Impossible. There's… nothing” she said and I looked at her in confusion.

“It worked” she said as she turned to Dylan and he sighed in relief.

My mom sat beside me and gra
bbed my hands.

“Can someone tell me what's going on?” I asked, obviously getting frustrated.

“Alex, you died” My mother said and I looked at her.
You've gotta be kidding me.
