Chapter 231 Chapter 231

Chapter 231 Chapter 231
The morning sun was high, but the mood in the pack house was heavy. Damien sat at the long table in the council room, his eyes sharp and serious. The elders had been called together, and one by one they filled the chairs, murmuring quietly among themselves.

Kael stood beside Damien, his arms folded, his face set in a hard line. When everyone was seated, Damien rose to his feet.

“You all know why I called this meeting,” Damien said, his deep voice cutting through the room. “The spy in the dungeon is dead. Not by my hand. Not by any of yours. That alone should tell us something—we are being watched, and someone inside is still working against us.”

The elders nodded, some whispering in fear, others frowning.

Kael stepped forward. “I went out last night,” he said firmly. “I saw shadows moving near the eastern border. They were fast, silent, and not of our pack. They disappeared before I could follow. But I know what I saw.”

An elder slammed his hand on the table. “So it has begun. Lucien is moving again.”

Another elder shook his head. “We are not ready for war! The pack has only just started healing. And with the Luna expecting a child—”

Damien cut him off sharply. “Do not think for a second that I will let fear rule this pack. Whether we are ready or not, the enemy is watching. And if Lucien is bold enough to kill even a prisoner inside our walls, then we are already under attack.”

The room grew quiet. The truth in his words was too heavy to deny.

Kael leaned closer to Damien. “We must prepare the warriors. Every one of them.”

Damien nodded. He turned back to the elders. “From this moment, I want the warriors training day and night. Patrols will be doubled. No one enters or leaves without my permission. If Lucien wants to bring war to our door, he will find us ready.”

The elders agreed, though fear still showed in some of their faces.

Just then, the door opened, and Elara stepped inside. She carried a calm grace, though her eyes searched Damien’s at once. “I heard voices,” she said softly. “What is happening?”

The room grew quiet. Some elders exchanged looks, unsure if they should speak.

Damien walked toward her and took her hand gently. “Elara… there are shadows near the border. Lucien is moving again. But don’t fear. I will protect you.”

Elara’s heart squeezed, but she did not look away. “Then let me stand with you, Damien. I may not fight with a sword, but I can give strength. To you. To the pack. I will not hide in fear.”

Some elders frowned, whispering to each other. But Kael gave a small nod of respect. He knew the Luna was stronger than she looked.

Damien squeezed her hand, his voice firm. “Then stay close, Elara. Your presence is light to this pack. But promise me one thing—you will protect yourself, and our child, above all.”

Elara’s lips trembled, but she nodded. “I promise.”

After the meeting, Damien and Kael walked outside to the training grounds. The sound of swords clashing and warriors shouting filled the air. Already, word had spread, and many young wolves had gathered, ready to train.

Damien’s chest swelled with pride. “Good. They are willing.”

Kael smirked. “They follow your strength, Damien. They know you will never lead them into weakness.”

Damien’s eyes grew darker. “Lucien thinks he can take everything I built. He thinks he can break my Luna, my child, my people. But I will show him—this pack is unshakable.”

As they stood watching, Elara came to the edge of the field. She placed her hand gently on her belly, whispering to herself. She remembered her parents’ words from the dream. “There is power inside you.”

For the first time, she believed it. And as she looked at the warriors training, she felt her heart steady. If war was coming, she would not run. She would not break. She would stand.

That evening, the pack square was alive with movement. Warriors sharpened weapons, women prepared food for the fighters, and children whispered excitedly about the coming days. Everyone knew—something was near.

Inside the Alpha’s hall, Damien stood with Kael, drawing maps of the territory. He pointed firmly at the borders. “Lucien will not attack from the front. He will try the shadows, the weak points. Kael, I want you leading the eastern patrol. No one enters unseen.”

Kael nodded. “Consider it done.”

Just then, Mira entered with Elara. She carried a basket of herbs. “Luna insisted she wanted to help,” Mira said gently.

Elara smiled faintly. “I cannot fight with a sword, but I can heal. If anyone is hurt, I will be ready.”

Damien’s eyes softened as he looked at her. “Even in danger, you think of others. That is why you are my strength, Elara.”

She blushed slightly, but her heart warmed at his words.

When night fell, the pack grew quieter, but no one truly rested. Patrols were doubled as Damien ordered. The moonlight covered the land, shining silver over the rooftops.

Elara stood on the balcony of their chamber, watching the stars. Her dream returned to her mind again and again. Her parents’ voices. The promise of her wolf. She felt the same warmth rising in her chest again, like a fire waiting to burst.

Damien came behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “What are you thinking about?” he whispered.

Elara leaned against him, her eyes never leaving the stars. “I feel something is close, Damien. Something big. I don’t know if it is war, or… or my wolf. But I feel it.”

Damien kissed her hair softly. “Then whatever it is, we face it together. With you, I fear nothing.”

Elara closed her eyes, letting his warmth calm her. But inside, she knew. The battle was drawing closer. The night itself seemed to whisper of it.

And in the darkness of the forest, Lucien gathered his loyal men. His voice was low and sharp. “Damien strengthens his pack. Good. Let him. The harder he prepares, the sweeter it will be when I crush him. Soon, very soon, I will tear everything from him.”

Beside him, Clara stood quietly, her eyes burning with a different fire. She did not care for Lucien’s throne or his crown. All she wanted was to see Elara destroyed.

The night was calm, but the storm was coming. The pack would soon face a battle that would change everything.
