Chapter 171 A Queen At Last

Chapter 171 A Queen At Last

Alyssa's POV

"I can't believe the day's finally here." My wolf said proudly, as I pushed myself up from the bed. “We've gone through a lot, and finally, we get to stand beside our mate and rule the Pack."

“I know!" I agreed, smiling to myself. “But I don't think going down memory lane is going to do me any good. If my eyes get swollen from crying, Aria would most likely have my head."

My wolf chuckled, “pregnant women."

“You can't blame us, the–”

"Hormones? Yea, I know that. I've heard that reason more times than I can count.”

I grinned, but it wasn't a lie. After throwing up during one of my dress fitting, Aria found out she was pregnant…even though I suspected since we went to my parent's pack. Xavier was the happiest person and somehow, he managed to be worse than Zayne…which I didn't think was possible.

He followed her around like a lost puppy and it was cute until she snapped at him, saying she was carrying a child not a disease. And her announcement also made Aileen go after Jace…something about them not being left behind. It was hilarious.

The door opened just as I sat on the bed again and Zayne entered, wearing the biggest smile on his face. “You look happy for someone who's not supposed to see the bride before the ceremony." I said, my voice light.

He came towards me, kneeling in front of me. “What they don't know won't hurt them." He replied. “Good morning, beautiful." He said, kissing me and then another one on my stomach.

“How's everything going?" I asked.

“Good," he murmured. “If those damn elders would calm the f…down."

“What did they do this time around?"

He took a deep breath, “they think the ceremony is taking too long to start." He said, “they're even more impatient than I am."

I chuckled, for people who were hell-bent on making sure I never become Luna, they were quick to change their minds after finding out about my abilities. "They're right though, I can't wait to be yours completely.”

“That ship has long sailed." My wolf said, snorting. "The twins you're carrying is proof."

I rolled my eyes, trust her to ruin the moment.
“Red, that happened the moment I laid eyes on you." Zayne said and my wolf was quickly forgotten as his eyes stared deeply into mine.

“Even when I was dead set on rejecting you?”

"Especially that time.” He replied, "how I feel about you that time hasn't changed…except that I'm madly in love with you even more now."

I didn't need anyone to tell me that I was probably as red as my hair. "I love you.”

The door opened and Aileen entered, glaring at her brother. “I knew for a fact that you were not going to listen." She hissed. “Get out, we need to start getting ready…unless you've changed your mind about not having the ceremony today."

He jumped to his feet, “I'll see you later." He murmured, kissing me one more time before leaving.

Aileen glared at me once we were alone, "You couldn't send him away?"

“You can't blame me, the twins missed their dad."

She just rolled her eyes as the others came in, holding the make up box and every other thing that was needed.

“Let's get you married!" Lori yelled loudly.

The first thing was a very much needed hot bath. Then Aria got started on my makeup, while making sure I had my back to the mirror. As she worked, the girls filled me in with what was going on outside. Elara excused herself and came back with a tray filled with pancakes and I swear, I could kiss her.

“We'll continue when you're done eating." Aria said, clapping her hand.

That didn't take long as I downed the food like someone who hadn't eaten in days.

Once Aria was done, Aileen took over, styling my hair. And since I couldn't see myself, I had absolutely no idea what was being done.

"Now the dress.” Lori said, "Alpha Zayne is going to lose his mind when he sees you.”

I grinned widely, "I'm counting on that.” I admitted as she helped me with my dress.

“You can turn around now."
I did, and I gasped when I saw the person staring back at me.

The dress hugged my upper body perfectly before flowing gently over my bump without making me feel restricted. The soft champagne fabric shimmered whenever the light touched it, while delicate gold embroidery curled across the bodice and down the skirt like tiny vines. The sleeves rested just below my shoulders, and a long cape flowed from my back instead of a veil.

My hair was styled in soft waves, the front gently pinned back while the rest flowed down my back. "Oh my goodness, I look–”

"Perfect? You're right.” Aileen said, a proud look settling on her face.

The door opened and my dad stood at the door, not taking his eyes off me. “You look gorgeous!" He whispered.

“Thank you, dad."

He nodded, “It's almost time." He told me after a few seconds and I took a deep breath. The girls excused themselves to also get ready. "Your mom and Nyra are making sure everything is in place.”

"Nyra told me.”

I'm so proud of you." He started again, “Nyra told us everything. Thank you for turning out well and for holding on."

I looked away, trying to fight back tears. "I had help." I told him, “I always knew something was missing, turns out I was right."

He hugged me gently, just as Zayne mindlinked me that it was time. And for the umpteenth time since I woke up, I let out another breath as my dad held my hand and led me towards the hall where the ceremony was taking place.

"This is it.” I thought, once we stood in front of the door. Then it was thrown open and I took the first step.
As slowly as I could, with my dad by my side, I made my way into the large hall, which was to no surprise filled with unfamiliar faces. Alphas' from other packs and all the members. Their eyes followed me with each step I took.

“You're doing great.” Zayne's soothing voice came through our mindlink and I smiled, the tension I felt easing slowly

The walk to the altar felt like it wasn't going to end but I kept going. I caught a glance of my mom's face. She had an identical expression that my dad was wearing. The girls were smiling proudly and maybe I was seeing things but Jace's eyes were tearing up.

Once we were at the front, Zayne stood up and took my hand, leading me to the throne beside his own…and I could swear that it used to be smaller than that.

“Are you okay?” He asked softly.

I nodded, “I am now.”

The ceremony continued, the elder conducting it was giving a speech about the other women who previously held my position and whatnot but I barely paid attention as I focused on…well, breathing.

He spoke about how pleased they were to finally have a worthy Luna and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at that. Even the twins agreed the elder was drunk with how hard they kicked.

“Now, the moment you all have been waiting for,” The Elder started, putting an end to the silent murmurings. “A moment that will bring us into the beginning of a new era where prophecies will be fulfilled.” He continued, before inviting both of us to stand in front of the entire Pack.

There was something like a calabash between us but it was covered.

“We'll take the oath now, and you're going to repeat after me.” The Elder said, and I nodded. “I, say your name.” He continued.

“I, Alyssa Aurora,” I repeated, just as he commanded. Then, he went ahead to read the oath, my duty to Zayne, the Pack members and the werewolf community as a whole. I promised to perform my duties and make sure there was peace and the members were happy.

Next, Zayne took a knife, cutting himself on the wrist over the calabash and I did the same thing as he put his wrist over mine, the blood dripping into the calabash and immediately that was done, it felt like a portal was opened in my mind and I could hear the voice of everyone in the room at once.

“Now, greet your Queen.”

“Long live the Luna Queen! Long live Queen Alyssa!” They chorused, bowing their heads.

The ceremony continued and Zayne introduced me to more Alphas' than I cared to keep count of. And some pack members, including the children wanted to say hello and despite how tired I suddenly felt, I still greeted them warmly.

Thankfully, the guys came to my rescue, taking me away from the crowd and giving me a drink.

“At least the hard part is done." I murmured, gulping the glass of juice.

“Tell me about it."

“We need to make memories." Aileen said, “let's take pictures."

Everyone gathered around and we took several pictures, smiling and teasing each other. We've come a long way and I couldn't be more grateful for them.

Jace was teasing Lori about something and the others were laughing when it happened.

A strange warmth spread between my legs.

“Uhm guys," I called, my voice barely audible. “Guys!" I repeated and that caught their own attention.

“What's going on, Red?"

“I think my water just broke." I said, and the whole hall was thrown into a state of panic.
