Chapter Ninety-Four: Time For Revenge

Jared didn’t utter a word as he paced up and down the cabin desperately, even though he wasn’t speaking with his words by the look on his face, I knew his brain was going at a million miles an hour trying to grapple with all that I had told him. After walking the length of his little cabin, Jared soon walks back over to what appeared to be his favourite seat and falls backwards in a heap.

“Remi was one of the best people I knew, she was so kind and gentle to each person she would meet. Not once did I see her even raise her voice in anger, she didn’t deserve this.” He begins to cry placing his head in his hands, even though I could see how upset he was and for good reason, I couldn’t help but grow a little annoyed at him.

“It hurts doesn’t it, when someone you care about so much who was one of the kindest people are taken from you so abruptly with no rhyme or reason.” I say looking over at him with a plain face, even though I can see what he’s going through, he still took my mother away from me and force not only me but my father to handle the heart stopping grief of now having to live life without her.

“How many times do I need to tell you, I didn’t want to kill your mother!” He exclaims looking up at me as tears run down his face, he may have continued to tell me but hasn’t told me the reasoning.

“Then why?! What did my mother do to you which would forced your hand to kill her?!” I shout moving forward slightly but the chains which were still tightly fastened around my hands wouldn’t allow me far.

“I didn’t have any other choice; Julia would continuously tell me that your mother knew too much! She had somehow learnt of what we were doing and was going to tell someone to put a stop to it! I couldn’t allow that to happen Rose!” Jared replies with a shout finally, giving me the one answer I had wanted to know for years.

My mother was killed because Julia told him my mother knew something. Does that mean Julia would have known my mother? Did my mother know this entire werewolf world existed?! I couldn’t help but look down at the ground and realise something else, Julia had not only taken those children away from their families, but she’d also taken my mother away from me too. Tears pricked my eyes as I thought about it all, my mother didn’t stand a chance when it came to that bloodthirsty, revengeful woman!

“Can’t you see how that is also one of Julia’s lies?! She was probably outraged that you and my mother were close and didn’t like it! Jared, my mother didn’t know a thing about what you were planning, she was just a woman where for Julia, got in the way of her plan.” I say looking up whilst a single tear ran down my cheek, Jared’s face changing in an instant once he saw this and realised what I was saying was the truth.

“I’m so sorry Rose! If I would have known back then that this was yet another of Julia’s lies, I swear I would have never done what I did to your mother! I brung you and everyone that knew your mother such intense endless pain and for that, I’m truly sorry. You wouldn’t believe the countless hours I have spent alone regretting what I had done that day, I know me saying this isn’t going to bring her back but please know, I will spend the rest of my life regretting it and wishing I had left her alone.” Jared tells me knelling to the floor slightly to be at my level, where I was forced to take a deep breath in as to not cry anymore but in that moment, it was as though this heavy bone crushing weight, I had been carrying for so many years left my shoulders, I was free.

“This is why you have to do the right thing Jared; you know The Shadow Wolf Pack and the Alpha weren’t the people who took Remi from you, I mean they’ve even buried her and kept her belongings.” I explain once I found the courage to speak again, where I spot the shock fill Jared’s face. “They’re good people Jared, the one person who should be held accountable and should have been all of those years ago is Julia. If not for those children who died that day or my mother….do it for Remi.” I say looking in right in the eyes as I spoke and for the first time, I felt as though he and I understood each other, even in the tiniest way.

Jared held my gaze for a moment before nodding his head, frantically, getting to his feet and moving into the kitchen. Throwing open the little cupboard under his sink, he pulls out a black bag throwing it down on the old table with a thud, dust and wood fragments floating in the air. I sat on the floor watching him as he opened up the bag and began to pull various items out which were placed on the table, before long, he pulls out a half broken little cardboard box of some description, faded coloured of yellow and green clinging on.

Out of that box he drops three silver bullet looking items, whining a little once the metal came in contact with his palm, he goes into a second cupboard and now pulls out a gun. Those silver bullets slide into that gun and placed into his back pocket.

Before I could ask, he makes his way over to the mantle piece where a little photo of a woman, who I am assuming to be Remi stood. Picking it up in his hands, he looks down placing a single kiss to her face.

“I’m gonna make sure that bitch pays.” Was all he mutters before placing the photo back down and beginning to make his way over to me, before I could blink, he picked me up in his arms carrying me out of the cabin.

My hands were forced to wrap around his neck with the chains still dangling from them in order for me not to fall, but as I sat in his arms staring at his face with nothing but determination looking back, I was a little confused and very worried.

“Where are we going?” I ask looking up at him wanting to know the answer but also, not sure if I wanted to hear it at the same time.

“It’s time for revenge.” Was all he replied.
