Chapter 50 You Think You Can Cling to Samuel
Felicity brought up the incident of running into Amelia at the beauty salon that day.
Billy raised his eyebrows. "She really didn't refuse to let you set her up with someone?"
"No! I could see she was quite happy about it. She even kept it from Natalie, saying she'd bring Liam to the engagement party. I think she's probably lost her way, dazzled by Goldenvale's glamorous world. Too bad, just as she came back, the Richardson family's company shut down."
The anger on Billy's face completely dissipated, though some hesitation remained.
"Efrain is very picky. Would he even be interested in someone from the countryside? He's not one to listen to us."
Felicity said with a smile. "Don't worry. Although she grew up in the countryside, you haven't seen her face - she's even more beautiful than Natalie was when she was young. You've seen what the Richardson family people look like - they're all exceptionally good-looking."
"In that case, what are you waiting for? Call Efrain and tell him to go to The Richardson Manor right away."
After a pause, he added. "Remember to remind him not to go empty-handed."
He had agreed with Felicity's idea of setting up Amelia and Efrain.
Felicity agreed and happily made the call.
Seeing this, Tessa stood up from the sofa expressionlessly. Just as she was about to go upstairs, Billy spoke again.
"Are you really set on marrying Mark?"
Tessa turned around coldly.
"What's wrong with Mark? He graduated from a prestigious school, and at just 28, he's already middle management at a Fortune 500 company. Compared to someone like Liam who can only rely on his family, I admire people who are self-made."
Billy sneered. "Middle management? Don't forget who got him into that Fortune 500 company!"
If it weren't for him back then, Mark would just be an ordinary employee at their family company now.
Tessa wouldn't listen at all.
Mark was humorous, hardworking, and willing to please her.
Much better than that nerd Liam who couldn't even finish a sentence whenever they met!
Honestly, at first, she was grateful to Liam.
If it weren't for him, she would have died under those horse hooves that day.
But once, when she secretly brought fruit to visit him without telling her family, she saw that he needed help even to use the bathroom. At that moment, she lost even her gratitude.
Plus, when people later cursed at her, calling her ungrateful, she even wished Liam would just die!
Anyway, she could marry anyone, but not Liam!
She didn't want to ruin her whole life on that cripple.
Mark didn't have much money - his annual salary wasn't enough for her to buy one luxury car she liked.
But the Young family had money.
She didn't lack money, only love!
As long as Mark kept loving her, what did it matter if she married into an ordinary family?
Billy looked at his stubborn daughter and shook his head with a sigh. "Since you insist, do as you wish! But I hope you won't regret it later."
Tessa ignored him and went upstairs.
Marrying Mark - she wouldn't regret it.
But marrying Liam, that cripple - that was what she'd really regret!
The Richardson Manor.
Holden was incredibly busy.
More and more people kept coming, and the wine and drinks they'd bought weren't enough anymore - they needed to urgently order another batch.
But the busier he got, the happier he was.
When Yasmin refused to leave earlier, he knew clearly that she wanted to see the Richardson family become a laughingstock.
But now, no one would dare laugh at the Richardson family.
As for Amelia, she was very annoyed at having to deal with so many people.
She was surrounded by girls, forced to go along with topics she had absolutely no interest in.
At first, she was somewhat patient, but later, everyone's focus completely shifted.
They weren't talking about her, or the Richardson family, or even the bags and jewelry that girls usually liked - they were talking entirely about Samuel.
"Amelia, what's your relationship with Mr. Crawford? How long have you known each other?" someone suddenly threw the topic to her.
Amelia had known all along.
How could these arrogant rich young ladies possibly enjoy surrounding a "country bumpkin" like her?
Especially now, with the Richardson family in its current situation.
They clearly had ulterior motives.
She said expressionlessly. "Just met, not well acquainted."
Several rich girls felt her cold attitude and were very uncomfortable.
The Richardson family now wasn't what it used to be.
If they hadn't come over on their own initiative, someone with Amelia's status wouldn't even be worthy of washing their feet!
But thinking of their purpose for coming, they still suppressed their displeasure and continued smiling.
Just less than two minutes into the conversation, someone couldn't help asking about Samuel again.
"Amelia, what are Samuel's hobbies? What does he like to do normally?"
Amelia told the truth. "I don't know."
Her understanding of Samuel wasn't even as much as theirs.
However, the girls clearly didn't believe what Amelia said.
Samuel had personally come to The Richardson Manor to attend her welcome party - how could she possibly know nothing about him?
She must be deliberately hiding it from them, afraid one of them might steal Samuel away.
Thinking this, the girls were full of disdain.
Even if Samuel wasn't interested in any of them, he definitely wouldn't be interested in Amelia.
Amelia might be beautiful, but she was from the countryside!
And some of them had checked before coming - Amelia was raised in the countryside as a servant.
And yet she had the nerve to hide Samuel's preferences from them?
"Amelia." One of the girls held out the gemstone bracelet from her wrist to Amelia.
Amelia didn't take it, frowning as she asked. "What do you mean by this?"
The girl smiled and said, "I bought this bracelet at an auction for three million dollars. It really suits your skin tone. Just tell us - what are Samuel's hobbies?"
"I really don't know. If you want to know, he's right over there - you can go ask him yourselves."
The girls looked at each other, their dissatisfaction with Amelia reaching its peak.
Finally, someone couldn't help saying, "Amelia, you don't actually think Mr. Crawford attending your welcome party means he's interested in you, do you?"
With someone taking the lead, the others chimed in.
"Amelia, it's an honor that we're talking to you. Don't be so ungrateful."
"Exactly! From the countryside? Don't tell me you're trying to marry up through Samuel. Stop dreaming!"
Amelia looked at each of them coldly.
"Not everyone treats Samuel like a treasure the way you do."
The girl's throat caught, and just as she was about to retort, Amelia spoke again. "I'm going to the restroom. Please, help yourselves!"
With that, she walked out.
If she weren't part of the Richardson family now, and if today weren't the welcome party Natalie had thrown for her, she wouldn't have bothered saying a single word to them.
Since they'd already broken off relations anyway, there was no need to keep up the pretense with them.
But at this moment, she suddenly really missed her friends from the Shadow Operations Division.
However, it wouldn't be long before they were reunited.
Grant had handed the factory over to her today - starting tomorrow, the Shadow Operations Division could officially begin relocating to Goldenvale.
She walked out into the night, planning to tell Byron this news immediately.
But she didn't notice that a figure was following her out.
