Chapter 402 A Family Together

Chapter 402 A Family Together

Hearing this, Amelia frowned and looked at Samuel.

"What else is there? I'm really going to get mad at you if you keep this up."

Samuel quickly said, "I didn't mean to hide it from you. I just promised her. But now I know I was wrong, so I've decided to break my promise and tell you directly."

"What is it exactly?"

"It's Maeve."

"What about Maeve?"

"She's also planning to expand the Sullivan Group to Thornfield."

"But it's just opening a branch here, the headquarters won't relocate."

Amelia was pleasantly surprised.

"When did this happen? Has she already moved here?"

"Not yet, but she's really eager to come. She's already looking for locations, and she's trying to get the branch set up before the end of next month."

"It's for Hunter, isn't it?"

Samuel raised his eyebrows. "Exactly."

"Are they together or not?"

Amelia remembered that before she came to Goldenvale, the two of them had already started dating.

They just hadn't officially announced it by having dinner together with everyone.

Samuel said, "You'd have to ask Hunter about that."

"Him?"

"Alright, let's not worry about other people right now. Get some rest - the baby in your belly needs to rest too."

Amelia was indeed feeling a bit sleepy.

Since last week, she'd been feeling drowsy all the time. Before long, she fell asleep.

When she opened her eyes again, it was already evening.

The sun was setting in the west, and golden sunlight poured through the curved glass window, filling her eyes.

After getting pregnant, she really did get sleepy easily. She'd never taken such a long afternoon nap before.

Looking beside her, Samuel was long gone. Since she'd slept so long, he must have gone downstairs to take care of other things.

But just as she sat up, she heard some unusual sounds coming from the bathroom.

Her alertness was ingrained in her bones. She immediately quietly pulled out a dagger from the drawer and walked barefoot toward the bathroom.

The bathroom door was half open. She saw Samuel crouching on the floor, sticking something down.

Seeing it was Samuel, Amelia lowered the dagger in her hand, and her tense nerves relaxed as she let out a soft breath.

Hearing the movement, Samuel quickly turned around.

Seeing it was her, his eyes filled with a smile.

But soon he noticed the dagger in Amelia's hand. After a slight pause, he understood what had happened.

He stood up and came to her, carefully taking the dagger from her hand.

"Did I scare you?"

Amelia shook her head.

"No, I just... just heard the noise."

Samuel put the dagger away and ruffled her hair.

"Don't be so tense from now on. I've handed most of the company matters over to Jeremy and the others. I'll be with you all the time, and when I really can't get away, I'll have Faith come over."

Although Faith's fighting skills weren't top-notch, they were more than enough to deal with ordinary thugs.

"Okay." Amelia nodded, completely relaxing.

Then she asked him, "What are you doing?"

Samuel stepped aside to show her the bathroom.

The floor was covered with anti-slip mats.

"Dad said the bathroom has a lot of moisture and water easily accumulates on the floor, so he specially bought these and asked me to put them down. In case you accidentally slip and fall."

Amelia smiled warmly.

"I didn't expect Dad to be so thoughtful."

"He's bored all day long, just waiting for our child to be born so he can help us take care of the baby."

"Then I'll have it easy after the baby's born."

"After the baby's born, we'll go traveling and leave the child with my dad and your parents."

Amelia smiled and nodded. "Okay."

"Step on it and try it, see if it's still slippery." Samuel held her hand.

Amelia walked around inside. The anti-slip mats were secure. Walking barefoot on them was slightly painful, but she no longer had to worry about slipping.

"I'll go thank Dad in a bit."

"If you go thank him, he'll just think you're being annoying, making a fuss over such a small thing."

Amelia said, "Dad just seems cold on the outside. If I go thank him, he'll be happy inside."

Samuel didn't say anything more.

He was already vaguely feeling that Stanley treated Amelia better than he treated his own son.

He didn't know if it was because he was moved by Amelia's thoughtfulness, or because of the two children in her belly.

But the reason didn't matter. The fact that he no longer had hostility toward Amelia was a good thing.

Amelia changed her clothes.

She was naturally small-framed with low body fat, and since she'd just gotten pregnant, her old clothes still fit.

After changing into a light green dress, Amelia went downstairs to get a bowl of fruit and took it to Stanley's study.

Stanley was reading a book.

Amelia glanced and saw it was a parenting manual.

She smiled warmly and stepped forward. "Dad, have some fruit and rest your eyes."

Stanley looked up. Seeing it was Amelia, his expression showed a trace of awkwardness, and he inconspicuously covered the book with another one.

"From now on, just let the servants do this kind of thing. I've already told them. Are they slacking off?"

"No, I wanted to bring it up myself. And to thank you for buying me the anti-slip mats."

"Anti-slip mats cost next to nothing. Was it worth making a special trip to say thanks? So petty."

Just as Samuel had predicted.

Amelia found it a bit funny, and the corners of her mouth turned up.

Stanley noticed and asked her, "What are you smiling about?"

"Nothing, I was just thinking that although the anti-slip mats aren't expensive, they represent Dad's thoughtfulness, and I can't be ungrateful."

Stanley pursed his lips, then pulled out two property deeds from the drawer and tossed them in front of her.

"These two houses - I bought them casually before. They're perfect as gifts for the two children. I put your name on them first. You keep them for the kids, and when they're born we'll change them to their names."

Amelia was stunned.

"Isn't this gift a bit too much?"

"What? You knew to say thank you for the anti-slip mats, but you don't know how to say thank you for property deeds?"

"Thank you, Dad."

"Alright, go on now. I'll eat the fruit. Go next door and tell your parents to come over for dinner tonight. Let's all get together."

"Okay."

Amelia nodded, and without disturbing him further, took the two property deeds and left.

She happened to run into Samuel.

He glanced at the property deeds and raised his eyebrows slightly. "For the children?"

"Yes. Dad said they're gifts for the kids. I just feel like these gifts might be a bit too expensive - one house costs at least tens of millions of dollars."

"Just keep them. To him it's nothing."

So Amelia put them away.

A grandfather's gift to his grandchildren - she had no reason to refuse.

That evening, the Richardson family came over.

The house was lively and bustling, and Stanley's expression was relaxed, seeming to be in a good mood.

He had never disliked the Richardson family. It was because of the tense situation at the time that he later had the idea of breaking off the engagement.

Now that the two families had become one family, and the situation in Phoenicia was stable, there was nothing to be dissatisfied about.
