Chapter 403 Boy-Girl Twins
Chapter 403 Boy-Girl Twins
Another month passed, and the baby in Amelia's belly was now four months along.
She went for her scheduled checkup that day.
The doctor happily told her, "You're having a boy and a girl. Mrs. Crawford, you're so lucky. Twins are already rare enough, let alone boy-girl twins!"
Amelia was thrilled too.
She'd always thought it would be two daughters or two sons, never dared to hope for a boy and a girl.
Samuel was a step behind in learning the news.
He wasn't one to show his emotions much, but in his excitement, he didn't know what to say and just held her hand tightly.
......
Having boy-girl twins was really wonderful news.
When they got home, Samuel told the family the good news. Everyone was so happy they didn't know what to do, so they decided to have a celebration dinner at the hotel.
Of course, no outsiders were invited, only their own people.
Before the babies were safely delivered, it was better not to make too big a fuss.
It was still the two families having dinner together.
But this time, besides the Richardson family and the Crawford family, they also invited Amelia's friends and Samuel's friends.
Yosef came too.
After what happened on the island last time, the two of them hadn't been in the mood to continue their trip.
So Sunny, who was actually Stella, went abroad early to study.
Yosef originally wanted to go with her, but since the Dobbins family was now under his control, he couldn't be away too long. He returned home with Amelia and the others to handle company business.
But every Friday, he would fly abroad to see Sunny.
Though it was a long-distance relationship, their feelings for each other only grew stronger.
The Dobbins family knew he was dating a girl abroad, but they didn't know Sunny was Stella.
As for Yosef's marriage, his parents were no longer anxious.
To Yosef's parents, the fact that Yosef was willing to get married was wonderful news in itself, so they didn't bother asking much about who Sunny was or what her background was.
But since she was willing to study abroad at her age, she must be a hardworking and motivated girl.
They had already accepted this future daughter-in-law they hadn't yet met.
On another note, Faith also brought good news.
Octavius's health, which had been poor, improved after autumn arrived.
Once Octavius felt a bit more at ease, she decided to follow Octavius's suggestion and have a wedding with Byron.
The wedding was set for November 6th.
Next month, at the hotel in Thornfield.
Though the timing was rushed, Byron had prepared everything that needed to be prepared.
Amelia couldn't help much herself, so she had Samuel help out.
And Jeremy, as Byron's brother, naturally helped out a lot too.
With many people helping, the wedding was less likely to have problems.
After dinner was almost over, everyone moved to the hotel's lounge.
Faith pulled Amelia aside and said with a mix of envy and playful helplessness, "We agreed you'd be my bridesmaid! But not only did you get married before me, now you're already about to be a mother of two."
Amelia smiled.
Maybe it was because she was going to be a mother, but her smile was gentler than before, and the cold edge she used to have had softened into warmth, giving her a more graceful and gentle beauty.
Hearing Faith say this, she felt a bit embarrassed too.
But then she thought of Maeve.
"Maeve can be your bridesmaid. She's not married yet."
Maeve, who was sitting next to Hunter not far away, heard this and walked over, saying to Faith, "If you beg me, I might be generous enough to agree to be your bridesmaid."
Faith rolled her eyes.
"Who asked for your help? I can still find a few bridesmaids. I'm just sad that I can't have Amelia as my bridesmaid."
Hearing this, Maeve immediately huffed and turned to leave in anger.
Amelia quickly grabbed Maeve.
"Faith's just joking! Besides, she doesn't have many female friends to begin with."
Then she persuaded Faith, "Just let her be your bridesmaid. Don't let her attitude fool you, she actually really wants to join in the fun."
She went back and forth persuading both of them.
Finally, Samuel couldn't stand it anymore.
"Are you two really going to make a pregnant woman worry about mediating between you? The bridesmaid thing is settled. Maeve, you're going to be a bridesmaid, period. Faith, stop saying mean things and apologize properly, then we can move on."
The two reluctantly apologized to each other.
Amelia looked at the childish pair and couldn't help but smile.
She knew that Faith and Maeve just had clashing personalities, but deep down they already considered each other friends, they just wouldn't back down.
Hopefully, Faith's wedding would take their friendship to the next level.
So she wouldn't always be stuck in the middle, caught between them.
After the meal, Faith and Byron went home, and Maeve returned to her house in Thornfield.
The others headed in the same direction.
Amelia and Samuel rode in one car, with York driving.
On the way, York asked if they were going to have another wedding.
Right now, although Amelia was pregnant, her bump wasn't showing yet, so she could still wear a traditional wedding dress and be a beautiful bride.
And back on the island, they'd only invited close friends and family.
Having another wedding in Phoenicia wouldn't be too much.
Samuel looked at Amelia. "What do you think?"
Amelia shook her head firmly. "Let's not. If we're going to have a celebration, let's wait until after the babies are born."
She had some trauma around weddings.
Though the disaster had passed, the shadow it left had not yet faded.
It might take a very long time to heal from that panic.
"Or, when we're old, we can go back to the island and have a sunset wedding," Amelia said.
Samuel nodded.
"Then it's settled. When we're sixty, we'll have another wedding."
"Why sixty?"
"At seventy we probably won't be able to walk well, fifty is still too early, sixty is just right. Besides, we won't be afraid of people laughing at our wrinkles."
Amelia couldn't help but laugh.
They agreed not to have another wedding for now.
Samuel glanced up at York.
"Enough about us. How about you? You're not getting any younger either, you should settle down and get married, too."
"I'm still young!" York deflected. "Jeremy is a year older than me and he's not married yet. When he gets married, I'll get married right away."
"You're passing the buck to Jeremy again! Don't you have any thoughts of your own?"
"I have no interest in women!"
Then, realizing this could be misunderstood, he added, "Even less interest in men, don't get any weird ideas!"
The two laughed.
York glanced into the rearview mirror and saw Samuel laughing heartily, and he smiled too.
Since being with Amelia, Samuel really did smile a lot more.
He felt like he'd read this observation online before, but at this moment, this thought genuinely crossed his mind.
Maybe this was what it meant to meet the right person.
Perhaps he would soon meet the right person too?
York's heart, which had been as still as stagnant water, unexpectedly rippled with a hint of emotion.
