Chapter 66: You Don't Even Know When Amelia Will Be Discharged?
These two people had both hurt her deeply.
If things were still manageable, Skylar thought, Amelia wouldn't want them to know.
But with how far the condition had progressed, she knew that while a caregiver could watch over her for now, notifying her family was just a matter of time.
That day they underwent treatment.
This was a highly confidential private nursing home. Because Amelia deliberately kept it secret, no one else knew about her condition until she was discharged.
When leaving, Skylar told Amelia to take her medication on time, get regular checkups, and comforted her, saying she could take some time to relax and clear her mind.
Amelia didn't say much, just returned to her newly rented place.
Her previous miscarriage and fall injuries had healed somewhat. Evergreen Hospital was already processing her discharge, and with Mia helping to handle things, she didn't need to worry about any of it.
For a moment, she actually didn't know what she should do, or what she was doing.
Later, Jeffrey found her.
...
At the Adams Group, Amelia was preparing for the third stage of "Voice of Heaven."
Her phone vibrated. Amelia looked and saw it was a call from William.
Technically speaking, they were still in the divorce cooling-off period, still legally husband and wife, so she should discuss certain things with him.
But soon, she and William would have nothing to do with each other, so...
After thinking it over, Amelia didn't answer.
The Brown Group.
William's office.
William listened to the busy signal on his phone, his lips pressed tight.
Without hesitation, he grabbed his car keys and headed outside.
But just as he came out, he heard hushed discussions—
"Did you guys see the gossip online? The one about Mrs. Brown dropping off and picking up a kid from school."
"I saw it, I saw it! Such big news!"
"What do you think is going on? Is that kid Mr. William Brown and Mrs. Amelia Brown's?"
"No idea, but didn't you see Rhys running around all day? I bet he's dealing with this."
"What do you think Mrs. Brown is trying to do? Assert her position? Or something else?"
"I don't know either, but bringing a kid out at this time, there are only a few possibilities: one, asserting her position; two, fighting for inheritance."
"I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it—the inheritance!"
"Right? Haven't you seen it in TV dramas? At some point, an illegitimate child appears to split the family fortune. Now that Mr. William Brown is with Isabella every day, if Mrs. Amelia Brown wants to grab what she can before leaving, that's understandable."
Suddenly, someone spotted William coming out and called out: "Mr. Brown!"
The others immediately stopped talking and bowed together.
William just glanced at them, then took the elevator downstairs.
What exactly was Amelia trying to do?
Was this her new tactic?
Earlier he thought she had finally learned to be sensible, but now it seemed she had just changed her approach.
She was still making trouble!
Isabella's broken sobs seemed to echo in his ears.
William got in his car, wanting to find Amelia and get some answers, but suddenly he paused.
Because he didn't know where to find her.
Since seeing her at the hospital before, they hadn't met again.
When he wanted to visit her at the hospital earlier, he had only seen her and Dash's shadows leaning together through the frosted glass door.
Was she still at the hospital?
Thinking this, William started the car and drove toward Evergreen Hospital.
After all these days, he finally came here again.
But after asking around, he learned that Amelia had already been discharged.
The person he asked looked at him like he was ridiculous.
The nurse said: "You don't even know when your own wife was discharged?"
William's lips pressed tight. He said nothing and left.
Back in his car, William called Amelia again.
She didn't answer.
Then he called Mia.
Mia did pick up.
"What is it?" Mia's voice came through.
"Where is Amelia?" William asked.
Mia shot back: "You don't know where your own wife is? And you're asking me?"
William frowned slightly.
"Mia, I'm being serious," he said. "What's the deal with her and that kid she's with?"
Mia of course knew what was going on, but she wasn't telling.
"Go ask her yourself, why are you asking me?" Mia said. "Before, when I called you, didn't you say I was helping Amelia cause trouble for you?"
"So don't come to me now either. I'm afraid I'll say something wrong and you'll accuse me and Amelia of conspiring to trick you."
"I don't want to take responsibility!"
With that, Mia hung up.
William listened to the busy signal, anger rising in his chest.
He punched the steering wheel.
The Bentley let out a loud honk.
Amelia.
She was really getting more and more bold.
Before it was all small stuff, but this time she brought out a whole kid!
She clearly knew he liked children.
Countless times during their intimate moments, he would gently stroke her belly, coaxing her to have a child with him, but...
Taking a deep breath, William calmed down slightly and called Amelia again.
Still no answer.
William grew even angrier.
This was perhaps the first time in his life he had been this furious.
His phone vibrated. William laughed coldly, thinking it was Amelia calling back.
But when he looked, it wasn't—it was a call from Finn.
Frowning slightly, William still answered.
"Grandfather," he said.
"Tonight, get yourself back to the Brown Villa!" Finn's angry voice came through.
"William, don't think that just because you're running the Brown Group now you can do whatever you want. I'm not dead yet!"
William rubbed his temples and agreed.
Finally, he tried to soothe him: "Grandfather, don't get angry, it's bad for your health."
"Now you care about my health!" Finn snorted coldly and hung up directly.
...
Meanwhile.
Amelia looked at the caller ID on her phone.
It was Finn.
After hesitating for a moment, she finally answered.
But after picking up, she didn't know how to address him.
After marrying William, she had always followed William's lead and called him grandfather, but now they were in the cooling-off period...
Unable to figure it out, she could only remain silent.
Finn on the other end was also silent. After about 3 seconds, a long, elderly sigh came through.
"Amelia, can you come to the Brown Villa tonight?" Finn's voice was gentle. "Even if you're angry with William, you should still come see me."
Amelia gripped her phone tighter, and finally, she nodded.
"Okay," she agreed.
She did need to go to the Brown Villa.
Many things needed to be dealt with.
Time flew by, and night fell.
Parking, getting out of the car.
After many days, Amelia stood outside the Brown Villa once again.
