Chapter 22 Where's she now
Chapter 22 Where's she now
"Ivy! No!" I shouted, my voice echoing into the void as the portal's pull ripped her from my grasp. Her fingers slipped through mine, her eyes wide with terror, and then she was gone—sucked into the swirling chaos Valeria had unleashed.
"Cassian!" Her scream faded, swallowed by the roar of energy.
I lunged forward, but the force slammed me back, my body tumbling through darkness. Everything spun—time, space, memories flashing like broken mirrors. Cycles upon cycles, Ivy's touch bringing me back to life, her love piercing the numbness. And now... lost again.
When the spinning stopped, I hit cold ground hard, gasping for air. The air tasted stale, metallic. "Ivy?" I croaked, pushing myself up on shaking arms. My hand throbbed, the cut from the node still fresh, but that pain was nothing compared to the ache in my chest. "Ivy, where are you?"
Silence answered, broken only by a distant drip of water. I blinked, eyes adjusting to the gloom. I was in a cavern—rough stone walls veined with glowing crystals that pulsed like a heartbeat. Not the house, not the pocket dimension we'd escaped to before. This felt... older. Eternal.
"Ivy!" I called again, my voice cracking with desperation. Emotions flooded me—fear, love, regret. She'd given me feeling, and now it was tearing me apart. "Please, answer me. I can't... I can't do this without you."
A soft groan echoed from the shadows ahead. I scrambled toward it, heart pounding. There she was, crumpled against a wall, her hair disheveled, clothes torn from the chaos. "Ivy," I breathed, dropping to my knees beside her. I gathered her in my arms, feeling her warmth, her pulse fluttering under my fingers. Touch—real, electric touch. "Oh God, Ivy, are you okay? Talk to me."
She stirred, her eyes fluttering open, those beautiful depths locking onto mine. "Cassian... it hurts. Everything hurts." Her voice was weak, laced with pain, but hearing it was like a balm. Tears welled in her eyes, spilling over as she reached up to touch my face. "I thought I'd lost you. When the portal pulled us apart... I was so scared. I love you so much—it felt like my heart was being ripped out."
I pressed my forehead to hers, my own tears mixing with hers. "I know, love. I felt it too. But we're here. Together. That's what matters." I kissed her gently, tasting the salt of our shared fear. "You saved me again. Pulled me through. How did you...?"
She smiled faintly, wincing as she shifted. "The device Valeria had—I grabbed it mid-pull. Overloaded it somehow. But Cassian, we're not safe. This place... it's part of the convergence. Deeper. I can feel it humming in my bones."
I helped her sit up, my hands roaming her arms, her sides, checking for injuries. Every touch sent sparks through me, reminding me how alive she made me feel. "As long as you're with me, we can face it. I love you, Ivy. More than anything. You've been my anchor through all this madness."
Her hand found mine, squeezing tight. "And you're mine. Remember our first real touch? In that bar, when everything changed. I knew then—you were different. Special." She leaned in, her lips brushing mine in a kiss that was soft, reassuring. "We have to keep going. For us."
I nodded, pulling her closer, my arms wrapping around her waist. The cavern's glow cast soft light on her face, highlighting the curve of her lips, the way her breath came in shallow pants. Despite the danger, desire stirred in me—sweet, emotional need born from our bond. "Ivy, I need you. Right now. To feel connected. To know this is real."
Her eyes darkened with understanding, a mix of love and longing. "Yes, Cassian. Make love to me. Show me how much you feel." Her voice trembled with emotion, her hands sliding under my shirt, fingers tracing my skin with tenderness.
I laid her back gently on the smooth stone floor, which felt surprisingly warm under us, like the convergence itself was alive. I stripped off my torn shirt, then helped her out of hers, my movements slow, reverent. "You're so beautiful," I whispered, my voice thick with awe. "Every inch of you. I never thought I'd feel this—your skin against mine, so soft, so warm."
She arched into my touch as I kissed her neck, trailing down to her collarbone. "Cassian... I love how you touch me. Like I'm precious. Like I'm the only thing that matters." Tears glistened in her eyes again, but they were happy ones now. "I've waited so long for this—for us to just be, without the cycles looming."
My hands cupped her breasts, thumbs circling her nipples until they hardened. She moaned softly, her back bowing. "You are precious," I murmured against her skin, taking one nipple into my mouth, sucking gently. The taste of her, the way she responded—it overwhelmed me with emotion. "I love you, Ivy. Every gasp, every shiver... it's because of you I can feel it all."
Her fingers tangled in my hair, pulling me closer. "Don't stop. Please... I need to feel you everywhere." Her voice broke on the words, raw with need and love.
I moved lower, kissing her stomach, her hips, peeling off her pants with care. She was already wet, ready for me, and the sight made my heart swell. "Look at you," I said, my voice husky. "So ready for me. Because you love me."
"Yes," she breathed, her legs parting as I settled between them. "Only for you." I kissed her inner thigh, then higher, my tongue finding her center. She cried out, her hips bucking. "Cassian... oh, God, that feels so good. I love you... so much."
I licked and sucked with gentle insistence, tasting her sweetness, feeling her tremble under me. Her moans filled the cavern, echoing back like a symphony of our love. "Come for me, love," I whispered against her, slipping a finger inside her, curling it just right. "Let me feel you let go."
She shattered with a sob, her body convulsing, tears streaming down her face. "Cassian! Yes... I love you!"
I crawled up her body, kissing away her tears. "Beautiful," I said, my own eyes misty. "So beautiful." I positioned myself at her entrance, pausing to look into her eyes. "Ready?"
She nodded, wrapping her legs around me. "Always. Make me yours."
I slid into her slowly, inch by inch, groaning at the tight, wet heat. "Ivy... you feel like home." We moved together, slow and deep, every thrust a declaration of love. Her nails dug into my back, but gently, holding on.
"I love feeling you inside me," she whispered, her voice emotional. "So full... so connected. We've fought so hard for this."
Tears pricked my eyes as I thrust deeper, our rhythm building. "We have. And we'll keep fighting. For us." I kissed her passionately, tongues dancing, bodies syncing in perfect harmony.
Our pace quickened, emotions heightening the pleasure. "I'm close," she gasped, her walls clenching around me. "Come with me, Cassian. Please... together."
"Yes," I groaned, thrusting harder, the love in her eyes pushing me over. We climaxed as one, cries mingling, bodies shaking in shared ecstasy. I held her tight, whispering "I love you" over and over as we came down.
We lay there, entwined, catching our breath. "That was... everything," she said softly, stroking my hair. "I feel so close to you."
"Me too," I replied, kissing her forehead. "We'll find a way out. Back to the others."
But as we dressed, the crystals pulsed brighter, and a low hum filled the air. "Cassian," Ivy said, fear creeping into her voice. "Look."
A fissure opened in the wall, revealing a shimmering portal. Through it, I saw Valeria, reformed, surrounded by echoes of our friends—Ben, Lena, Aris, Elijah—trapped in glass-like prisons.
"Welcome to the core," Valeria's voice boomed from the portal. "You've fed the convergence with your bond. Now, it awakens fully. And your love? It's the key to controlling it all."
The portal expanded, tendrils of energy reaching for us. Ivy grabbed my hand. "Cassian... what do we do?"
Before I could answer, the tendrils wrapped around her, pulling her toward the fissure. "No!" I shouted, holding on desperately.
But her grip slipped, and she vanished into the light, her scream echoing: "Cassian!"
I dove after her, but the portal sealed shut, leaving me alone in the cavern. A new voice whispered from the walls—my future self's: "Cycle ten begins. And this time, love is the weapon."
