Kate Fox smiled triumphantly after Alpha Marcus ordered her to deal with his Luna, Nadine Smith. She worked too hard during the previous years to attain her ultimate goal of replacing her best friend as White Pride’s Luna.
She had Gabby McBride to thank for! The witch who had nothing but hatred against Alpha Marcus’ family has helped her to bewitch the man who could elevate her status as the Luna of White Pride.
Kate connived with Gabby to attain their goal, and once she would become the Luna, she should allow Gabby McBride to exact her vengeance against Marcus. For Kate Fox, it was a fair deal, and she immediately agreed to it. She had always believed that the means would justify the ends!
Gabby cast a spell to confuse Marcus, and because of the spell, he believed that Luna Nadine has cheated on him. Moreover, he believed that the baby inside Luna Nadine’s womb belonged to another man. Kate couldn’t ask for more! She was so happy at the turn of events!
“Did you hit her?” Kate asked Marcus.
“I lost my temper, Kate. Oh God, what have I done?” Marcus felt guilty for hitting his wife, but Nadine was no longer his mate. He had no idea how it happened but it seemed he committed an error in choosing his Luna! Regardless, he loved her so much but Nadine betrayed him…and he couldn’t forgive her for sleeping with another man!
“She might lose the baby, Alpha Marcus,” Kate muttered worriedly while trying to help his Luna.
“Much better. Do something about it, Kate. I can’t let any bastard ruin my name,” he informed his second mate, who happened to be Nadine’s close friend.
Kate nodded her head and agreed. Inwardly, she found another opportunity to get rid of Nadine Smith…for good! As soon as Alpha Marcus’ ordered her to take care of his wife, she already had a plan in mind. She requested help to take Luna Nadine to the nearest hospital, and the woman was barely conscious during the trip. However, Nadine regained consciousness before their arrival at the hospital. The woman’s eyes squinted as she studied her surroundings and then Nadine smiled at her.
“Kate, where am I?” Nadine asked in a weak voice.
“I am taking you to the hospital, Luna Nadine. You were bleeding and Alpha Marcus told me to take care of you,” Kate replied.
Nadine nodded her head but as soon as she recalled what happened earlier, tears automatically rolled down her eyes. “I don’t know what happened to us lately, Kate. He’s always indifferent to me, and he even told me I was no longer his mate,” she confided to Kate.
“We are here,” Kate announced a few minutes later, and as soon as the car stopped, hospital staff came forward to help the patient. They recognized her as Luna’s closest friend, but sooner or later, the hospital staff would all bow to her as the Luna of White Pride.
As they assisted Luna Nadine with extreme care, Kate was seething with anger. Since Nadine was born, she got lucky! Her parents were kind, and she also managed to become the Luna of White Pride. Marcus Caldwell, the Alpha of White Pride was the ideal man of almost all women in the pack, as well as in neighboring packs.
“Kate? Where are they taking me?” Nadine panicked as soon as she realized that something would happen to her or the baby.
Kate walked faster to catch up with the hospital staff, and then she lowered her head to whisper something into Luna Nadine’s ear. The woman hadn’t suspected a thing or two! Well, Nadine Smith has always been naïve even if she was born as the Alpha’s daughter.
“Kate, please say something. I am worried for my baby,” Nadine murmured.
“The baby has to die, Luna Nadine,” Kate informed Luna Nadine, and the woman looked at her with horror. She chuckled upon witnessing Luna Nadine’s suffering.
“No, Kate. Please. Please let my baby live,” Nadine begged Kate to talk to the hospital staff who was in-charged of aborting her child. “Please, please this baby live. She’s innocent!”
“I am sorry to disappoint you, Luna. However, I am just following your husband’s order,” Kate explained.
“We are friends, Kate,” Nadine argued.
“Are we? No, you are wrong about that, Nadine. I was never your friend. I was just an omega, born to serve your family until I die!”
“No! You know it’s not true, Kate. I love you as a friend, and you have been treated like a family.”
“Shhhh, don’t waste your energy on me, Luna. By the way, I have something else to tell you,” Kate stated.
“Say it,” Nadine ordered.
“I am the second mate of your husband, dear,” Kate conqueringly informed Luna, and she didn’t stop there. She also informed Luna Nadine that she would become the Luna of White Pride. “The moment you got out of this hospital, you will be stripped of your title as the Luna of White Pride!”
“You can’t do this to me, Kate!” Nadine insisted but Kate just let out an evil laugh.
Kate snorted and said, “I can.” Then, she laughed some more when Nadine Smith glared at her. She chose to ignore Luna Nadine’s anger towards her and went on to bribe the Doctor. Abortion was one thing, but she changed her mind. She wanted Luna Nadine to die as soon as possible!
“Smile, Nadine. Enjoy your remaining time in this world. Come on,” Kate forced Nadine to smile and pose for a family photo. “Are you shocked? Don’t be! After all, you angered the Alpha, so you deserve to be treated this way, Nadine.”
“Please help me, Kate.”
“Why should I do that, Nadine? I want you gone as soon as possible, understand?”
“But why?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Alpha Marcus wouldn’t take me as his wife as long as you’re alive,” Kate informed Nadine about the situation and the woman remained
“He loves me,” Nadine insisted but Kate only laughed.
“Says who? Come on, Nadine. You are a smart woman. Why do you think would he let me handle your unwanted pregnancy? Why would he place your life in my hands?”
“Wait, are you having an affair with my husband, Kate?” Nadine confronted Kate and when the other woman nodded her head, she was too stunned to speak! Of all people who could betray her, she didn’t expect it to be her closest friend, Kate Fox.
“Don’t be sad about it, Nadine. You also had an affair with Jason Reed, remember?”
“No! It’s not true that I have an affair with Jason! He’s only a friend,” Nadine insisted.
“Friends? Maybe that’s true, however, Marcus believed otherwise, Nadine.” Kate claimed and then she ordered the man who wore a white robe to expedite the surgery.
Nadine screamed at tried to get away but her hands were tied. She was helpless! If only her wolf was awakened, then maybe, she has a chance for survival!
“No!” Nadine continued to scream as soon as they entered an all-white room. “No! Please, just let me go!”
“I am sorry, Luna Nadine, but we are just following orders from the Alpha,” the doctor replied.
“The Alpha wants me dead?” Nadine asked in disbelief but at the same time, she wondered if it was really the Alpha who wanted her to die, or if it was only Kate’s wish. As she watched the Doctor and his assistants preparing their equipment, she realized one thing. She was bound to die on the operating table!
Nadine’s hands immediately went to her stomach and closed her eyes to offer a prayer for her unborn child. How could a person become so heartless as to kill an innocent life?
“Let’s begin,” the doctor said.
Nadine winced in pain when the doctor started cutting her flesh without giving her anesthesia. Then, Nadine started to scream in too much pain! She saw red. It must be her blood, and it just kept seeping out of her body. When she glanced sideways, she saw a puddle of her own blood! At first, it was painful, and then she could no longer feel the pain as her body started to become numb. She didn’t want to give up, however, her entire body told her differently. Then, for the last time, her eyes darted at the door, hoping that Alpha Marcus would suddenly come and stopped them from taking her life.
Save me, Nadine prayed.
Then, she had a hard time breathing. She couldn’t breathe no matter how much she tried! She tried to open her eyes, but they wouldn’t open! Deep inside, she screamed for help but she was voiceless. She became so weak…and breathing her last breath was also a struggle. She didn’t want to die in vain, but she guessed, that’s how her life ended.
Suddenly, Nadine heard a commotion, and then she smiled upon seeing Alpha Marcus rushing towards her. He shouted at the doctor and reiterated that he only wanted the baby to die! The doctor claimed there was a complication while performing the surgery. She shook her head while trying to inform Marcus that the doctor was lying. She shouted at him but he didn’t listen!
When Marcus moved closer to her body, she followed him. And his eyes widened as he got closer to the operating table. Then, tears almost blinded him. Everything was hopeless! He was late in coming to save her! She’s already dead! With so much hatred and disappointment in her heart, Nadine closed her eyes, and accepted her end, no matter how tragic it was.
However, her journey to the underworld was disturbed when she constantly heard a bell ringing close to her ears. Slowly, she opened her eyes to check who was ringing the bell, and then she let out a piercing scream upon seeing Kate’s smiling face.
“Kate!” Nadine exclaimed in disbelief that the traitor was so close to her face.
“Finally, you are awake! Enough of your beauty rest and we should start preparing for your big night!” Kate announced excitedly.
“My big night?” Nadine asked in confusion.
“You must be still dreaming. Have you forgotten about the ball tonight for your eighteenth birthday?”
