Chapter 16

CHAPTER 16

Riley's POV

The buzzing sound of a vacuum cleaner woke me from my beauty sleep. "Urgh," I grumbled into my pillow pulling it closer to me. I pulled the warm duvet over me trying to block out the irritating sound.

"God please deliver me from this torturing enemy." I sighed into the pillow, taking in his manly essence. As if God was on my side and inclined to do as I pleaded, the dreadful sound ceased. I sighed in relief snuggling into the soft surface of the bed.

I was conscious enough to know I wasn't in my house. Due to the great downpour the previous night, there was no way I could have risked going home. Peering at the alarm clock on his nightstand, I grumbled into my pillow "Who thinks of a vacuum cleaner by 4:48 am? Is this man having a bad case of insomnia?"

Well, I wasn't exactly a morning person especially when awoken in the most annoying way like the buzzing sound of a freaking vacuum cleaner. Rolling to his side of the bed, I encircled my arms around his pillow, buried my face in it, and took a deep breath in contentment.

Just when I shut my eyes, trying to catch some more sleep the bedroom door swung open with a slight squeak, bringing in Creed in his awesome glory.

His footsteps were as quiet as that of a child sneaking up to steal a cookie from the cookie jar. I could hear him move in the direction of the bed, then the sound of him plopping something down on his nightstand. Shortly, I felt the bed dip from his weight. He combed his fingers through my hair setting the butterflies in my stomach on a crazy rampage, before whispering "Arise and shine little one"

"I just wanna stay in bed all day," I mumbled under my breath.

"Come on now. You'll be late for school if you don't get up now." He said caressing my face. "I'll even throw in a steaming cup of coffee?

"Urgh, fine" groaning, I rolled to him, putting my arms around his sitting form my head buried in his waist. He rubbed my head.

"Here, take this." I raised my head to see him holding out a cup of coffee.

I groaned in satisfaction when the coffee hit my taste buds, successfully washing the sleep off my face.

Putting down the cup, I pulled his face to mind for a quick kiss. The tingles I felt from the contact were enough to wake me up completely. "Thank you," I told him pulling away.

Nodding at me, he waited for me to finish my coffee before he carried me to his bathroom.

* * *

There was an invisible spring attached to my heel today as I made my way to my locker. Students were prancing around the hallway trying to get everything in check for the first half of the day. Friends met each other catching up from where they had left off, the loners minded their business, and the gist lovers were busy moving around each group fishing for anything juicy.

I made my way to homeroom with my calculus textbook in hand. When I turned the corner I bumped into Selena and Linda and a few feet behind was Tory shifting from one foot to the other in an uncomfortable manner. Come on, cut me some slacks!

"Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in our direction." Selena drawled out an ugly scowl fixed on her face. Selena was a beautiful girl, way too beautiful that it hurt to admit. Her shiny blonde hair was immaculately strengthened and was left flowing down her back, she had her makeup in place. She was the definition of something for the eye to feast on but her attitude, her way of regaling people, and the ugly scowl she always had on tainted her beauty.

"Is it the teacher's slutty pet?" Linda pretended to be looking around, and when her eyes landed on me, she made a mocking sound at the back of her throat. "Oh yeah, it's the teacher's slutty pet."

"Hi Selena, Linda it's a pleasure meeting you girls this morning but-" I dragged out the but slightly leaning backward "I gotta go I'm running late."

"She said she's running late." Linda chortled giving Selena a sly look.

"Why you can't wait to see Mr. Creed the Greek god?" Selena sneered at me.

"How does that sound in your ears after saying it?" I raised a brow at her. "You know if anything, I think you're obsessed with the man." I noticed an emotion flicker through her eyes. It was so quick I didn't have enough time to know what it was. But if my speculations were right, she was crushing on my Creed.

My Creed? My subconscious taunted. Okay maybe he's not mine but he couldn't be hers either. And right now he was most likely mine since I was keeping his bed warm.

"Don't get smart loser." Selena beat the calculus textbook in my hand making sure it fell on the floor. She kicked it a good 10 feet away in anger.

"How come your scores in English improved when Mr Creed started teaching? I get it you're a nerd-" Linda made a gagging sound before continuing "but you've always fallen within the range of 88 to 94 then BOOM perfect 100." Linda finished with crossed arms.

"You said it, I'm a nerd. Look I just want to spend the rest of sen-"

"Hey babe! What's making you upset so early?" We all turned to see Liam, Selena's boyfriend wrap his arms around Selena giving her neck some love.

Liam has always been my day-one crush since Freshman year. He was in the junior varsity and I was the nerd whom he never noticed but since Creed, I couldn't care less about his attention. Silly how I'd always wished for a chance for him to just glance twice in my direction.

"The teacher's pet." She snarled

"I see. Don't bother yourself with things that ain't important. Come on I've got something to show you." Liam said stirring her away from me but not before giving me a subtle wink.

"Toilet girl." I couldn't help but jab at Tori when she gave me an irritated look. It was unfortunate how she was willing to carry Selena's books around just for a chance to be friends.

Just then, the bell went off, I picked my textbook from the floor and made my way to homeroom.
