Chapter 15
CHAPTER 15
Riley's POV
It was some minutes past 8 pm, rain was still dropping as heavily as when it had started, and the roaring sound of thunder could be heard. Sharp light from the flashing lighting could be seen sipping in from the window.
I sat Indian style on the light grey color leather couch with the remote in hand surfing through channels and looking for what to watch. I was dressed in one of Creed's black big T-shirts and his boxer shorts which I had to fold the waistband for to fit my petite waist. Creed was somewhere doing God knows what. Taking out time to study his lounge area, was too luxurious for a High School teacher.
I heard a ding coming from my phone that was still in my school bag. Unlocking the screen, I found a message notification from Kacey, I opened it knowing Kacey it would be about some homework.
To my surprise, the message had me choking on air.
Hey Riley, I saw you hitch a drive with someone after school. Tell me who was the guy?
If Kacey saw me entering Creed's car earlier who else did?
So she didn't know who owned the car. That was a good thing.
I need to know if she knew and was trying to play me into spilling it out.
If you saw me, didn't you see the guy as well?
Then I hit sent. I waited with eyes zeroed in on the phone my heart beating hard in my chest. I waited as if expecting Kacey to jump out of it, remote completely forgotten.
The windows were tinted there was nowhere I could see through it. Oh, it was a guy huh?
Phew! I finally let myself breathe placing my hands over my chest and falling onto the couch. She didn't know. His windows were tinted. "Whoo!" I let out in a silent breath chuckling to myself.
"That was a close call there baby girl." I lay on my stomach typing her a reply.
There are some people out there who can't bear the thought of seeing me suffer the way I did yesterday. My skirt almost flew over my head. Not kidding.
I added a laughing emoji before hitting send. I couldn't tell her about Creed at least not now. Now was for me and Creed. Maybe after the one week lapsed I'll let her in.
In the bathroom, Creed had bent me over the shower wall ramping into me hard. He had taken me on the floor with a warm shower pouring down on us like a warm rain. He was like a drug I'd soon overdose on.
Going through my recent call log, I hit the nail on my mother's number.
"Hello, honey!"
"Hello, cupid's victim."
My mum's soft laughter was heard making me feel relaxed. She wasn't home.
"Honey, I'm sorry I can't make it home today there is a rainstorm over here I can't risk driving back."
"I'm the old honey, you have a new honey now." I teased her and I could bet my wisdom teeth she was blushing. "Where'd the rain storm lock you in?"
"Riley Parker!" My booming laugh resonated in the room.
"Alright, alright Mom I won't tease you again today if you tell me his name."
"James."
"James uhh?" My brows wiggled teasingly even though she couldn't see it.
"Oh shut up lil' girl!" There was a slight pause before we broke into a fit of laughter.
"Does he treat you well?" I asked quietly all trace of the joke gone. Remembering how badly dad had treated her, all the pains she had to endure from that man. Her happiness was the most important to me and I wouldn't want her getting stuck with another emotionally abusive man.
"Yes. He does." Her voice was sober and I knew she too just remembered my father. She deserved better than that.
"You don't have to come back today there's a storm here also it's really bad with thunder and all." I had to put in the thunder cause Mom hated thunders.
"Have you had anything to eat honey?" The worry in her voice was touching. I knew more than anything that my mother loved and cared for me she would do anything for me.
"I had pasta." I left out the part where my sexy English teacher was the chef behind the stove.
"Alright, honey. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye Mama, I love you to the moon and back."
"I loved you first." She laughed.
"Not fair bye!" The call ended. I smiled looking down at my phone wondering if I'd ever have the courage to tell her about Creed.
"Where's your father?" The sudden deep baritone voice made me yelp in alarm snapping my head so fast in his direction that I feared I could have a whipped lash.
"You startled me." He had on a blank expression arms crossed over his chest.
"Sorry." He didn't seem quite apologetic about it. He raised a questioning brow at me.
"He left." That was all I said not telling if he left by dying or by walking away.
His face softened and he looked away. Why did he abruptly ask about my dad?
"Why?" I needed to know.
"Just asking." He shrugged sitting on the floor in front of the couch.
"Didn't seem like it." I laid back down on the couch my head close to where his back was leaning. I was yearning for his body heat. I craved his touch even if was a subtle brush of his hand but I didn't want to come off as clingy.
"Your mother has a boyfriend." He started picking up the discarded remote and started checking for what to watch.
"Mmm." I hummed too lazy to give a proper reply.
"How do you feel about that?" I wished I could see his face right this moment to try and decipher what was on his mind. Not like he wears his expression on his face.
"I'm happy for her. At least, she's finally moving on. She has finally given another man the chance to love her right. And I'm hoping he loves her right." In a way I was sending a message to him and I hoped on hope that he got my message.
"What happened to him? Your father." He settled on a sports channel that was showing a soccer game. I wasn't the type of girl that found sport boring, I wasn't a sporty girl but I appreciated sports.
"He walked away." I don't know why I was telling him this. It wasn't any of his business but I found myself telling him nonetheless.
"I'm sorry to hear that." He mumbled quietly.
"Don't be." I turned and closed my eyes when the pressure to run my hand through his hair grew stronger.
"I thought kids with separated or divorced parents always pray all day and all night for their parents to get back together?"
"All day and all night?" I laughed "I honestly think my mum deserves better than that. He abused her emotionally and I wouldn't want her to get stuck in such a marriage."
"No woman deserves that." We didn't say anything anymore he stared at the TV while I had my eyes closed. We stayed that way for some time the only sound that was heard was the background voices of the commentators on the TV.
"What's your name?" My voice shattered the silence that was between us.
"Creed." He sassed, I heard the smirk in his voice
"No not Creed. I mean your first name." I nudged his shoulder. Finally, I could touch him without coming off as clingy. I felt tingles on my hand the moment it made contact with him.
"Damon."
"Damon!" I tasted his name "Damon Creed." He did look like a Damon with all the air of mysteriousness he had around him a weak name wouldn't have fit him. "Damon," I said again making him turn his head slightly to glance at me.
"Yes!" He whispered with hooded emerald eyes.
"I like it," I whispered back looking him in the eyes and giving him a soft smile.
Bringing his hand behind him, he pulled me in for another round of toe-curling kisses.
