Chapter 60 Chapter 60

Carter

I cleared my eyes for the umpteen time, and I was still seeing the same bewildered expression staring back at me. It felt so unreal, to see my daughter after all these years, but how could she come back home without informing me?

I stared at her with surprise, my eyes wide with wonder, but she only smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling.

"Jasmine?" I called, wanting to be sure if I was truly seeing my daughter, and for real, it was her.

"You're not seeing a ghost, Papa," she smiled, standing up from the bed and walking toward me with open arms. "I miss you," she uttered, her voice trembling with emotion.

"I missed you too, daughter," I gushed, pulling her into a tight, fatherly hug. I inhaled her smoky perfume, rubbing my nose on her head, feeling a mix of joy and nostalgia.

I couldn't believe I was seeing her right now; she looked different from the Jasmine I saw the last time. Even though we talked and chatted on the phone sometimes, it still felt more surreal and wonderful than the Jasmine I bid farewell to years ago.

We departed from the hug, and I held her tiny waist while our eyes locked onto each other, filled with love and longing.

"Papa, you look more handsome," she exclaimed with a tone of teasing.

"Thanks to my new wife," I replied happily, but instantly her gaze turned cold and sinister as we departed from the hug.

"Again on it," she hissed inwardly, turning her back to me.

"Not again, Jasmine," I tried touching her shoulder, but she took a step forward, my hand slumping.

"I told you to restrict yourself from mentioning her when I'm here," she pronounced, her voice firm.

My gaze cascaded to the floor as I searched for the right words.

"You don't mean it, do you?" I later pronounced after a lot of thought.

"Of course, I mean it," she turned to face me again, her hands folded on her chest. "Don't you know that anytime you mention her name, I'm always reminded of my mum?" She paused, a loud inhale escaping her lips.

"Don't you care about my emotions? You can do it for my sake. I'm not saying you shouldn't get a new wife or start your life afresh, but at least do it in a way that won't hurt your daughter," she explained, her voice laced with frustration and desperation.

I walked closer to her and pulled her into a tight hug. She acted stubborn for a while, not reciprocating the hug, but after some time, she relaxed and hugged me back.

I tapped her head slowly, my nose filled with her sweet shampoo.

"I'm sorry if that hurt you. You know papa didn't plan to do that, and besides, it isn't possible for me not to mention her by your side, but I'll try not to do it in a way that will hurt you. You know I don't like seeing you sad," I tried to soothe, and I'm glad it worked. Her head rested on my chest properly.

We stayed like this for a while before we departed. She walked to sit down on the bed.

"So, can you tell me why you came down all the way from your favorite city to the country that serves as a grave without informing your dad?" I asked, trying to sound cool and make everything go smoothly.

"Huh," she thought about it for a while, her gaze moving outside to the window before returning to me.

"Let me just say I missed my Papa," she smiled largely, and I nodded.

"I missed you too," I replied, and we both smiled.

"So, how are your studies? Hope it wasn't too hard for you?" I pressed further, and she rolled her eyes.

"You know nothing can be like being under your supervision," she started, bringing out her phone.

"It was hard at first, but not until I met this set of people," she showed me a picture from her phone. I stared at it; it was a picture of two boys and a girl standing in the middle.

"So, which one is your man?" I teased, and she smirked.

"I'm not a fan of that, you know, and guess what? Two of the boys have asked me out," she uttered, my eyes widening in surprise.

"So, why did the great Jasmine reject them?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"Dad, you know it would be awkward. We're all friends, and aside from that, I couldn't date one of them; it would cause problems. I just chose to be friends; nothing more," she replied, standing up with a nonchalant shrug.

"I have to step out now; I'll be back before nightfall," she said, moving closer to the door.

I wanted to stop her, but before I could even open my lips, she was already outside, leaving me with unanswered questions.

I breathed heavily, walking to sit on the bed with a loud groan. I wondered why Jasmine had come home without telling me. It was unlike her; she always kept me informed.

The door opening shut my attention, and Mila walked inside with a bright, warm smile.

"I guess your daughter is around," she spoke while locking the door.

"Yes, I'll introduce you tonight," I replied instantly.

"Okay, I guess I'd have to make a different dinner tonight, but I'd be glad if you can tell me her favorite food so I won't have to stress myself," she said.

I stood up from the bed, walking to stand in front of her.

"Jasmine is a picky eater; she changes her favorite food almost every month," I said, staring into her eyes.

"Just prepare anything, and she'll appreciate it," I reassured her, arranging her hair to the back.

"Okay, I'll be back want to get some groceries and also get some drugs for Tessa," she turned and left the room not waiting for my reply.

I swallowed hard, my eyes staring at the door. I guessed it would be left to just me and Tessa inside the room; it wouldn't be a bad idea if she were here with me. But would she even agree to come inside my room? I could just try.

I walked to pick up my phone, pressing through it for a while before dialing her number. The phone rang for a while before she picked up. I'm glad she picked the call; I thought she'd ignore me.

"Can you come to my room? I'd like to talk to you," I uttered.

She didn't allow me to finish my statement before she hung up. I breathed heavily, not knowing if she'd come or not.

I fell down on the bed, my eyes magnetized on the ceiling. The creek of the door turned my attention, and I watched as Tessa rushed inside the room; she looked like she had been forced to come here.

I stood up from the bed, watching her hum as she leaned her back against the wall, her eyes glaring at the floor.

"You're here?" I asked, walking toward her.

When I got there, I raised her head up with my fingers; our eyes aligned.

"Something wrong?" I asked.

Instead of replying, she moved her head closer and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.

What was that? I didn't dwell on it as I moved my lips toward hers, and we started kissing passionately.

For her, the kiss might be a mistake, but for me, it was a go-ahead sign.

My hand grabbed her tiny waist, folding it in a gentle way. We exchanged breath; her eyes remained shut while her hands supported my neck.

I let go of her waist, moving my palm to her breast and squeezing it gently.

I missed this; I missed this feeling, I missed everything about her—the way she tasted, her moans in my ear that sounded like music, her tongue on my cock.

I let go of her lips and her breast, tossing her clothes to the floor in one swift motion. I didn't hesitate to pull off my shirt.

Her palm clasped my chest as she played with my nipple, arousing me more.

"I missed you," I murmured under my breath, returning my lips back to hers while my hand grabbed her nipple, playing with it in a tender way.

She released a moan that turned me on more. My lips departed from hers, and I grabbed her nipple, sucking on it slowly.

The sudden opening of the door caught us in the act; my eyes became wide open.

"Is it Mila or Jasmine?" My heart raised before raising my head up; my eyes became even wider.
