68. Moving
While waiting for the answer from his men, Jonathan waited in a VVIP room that had golden colors on every wall and many artistic carvings and paintings in every corner.
Jonathan's eyes widened when he saw Frederick coming quickly. The sophisticated equipment allowed him to make quick discoveries.
"How did it go?" Jonathan asked.
"Mr. Luca as stated on the business card you provided has been staying at the King Hotel under the 00 group."
Jonathan scavenged for hypotheses. "00 group? He didn't stay in our hotel? Are you sure?"
"Mr. Luca from Spain did not stay at our hotel. And according to the information I got, he's been staying for a week," she added.
Jonathan studied the floor. "Why out of all the hotels in Las Vegas, did he choose the 00 group?"
He chuckled. "His job looks great, but he can't afford our hotel? So much style!"
The 92 Group under Jonathan's control had dominated Las Vegas' star hotels. He thought Luca would stay at one of its many hotels, but it turned out that he just chose another hotel that was lower in quality than 92 Group.
Despite the lower quality, the hotel Luca had stayed at was a very elite five-star hotel, but it was still below the level of Jonathan's hotel.
"Anything else you need, sir?" asked Frederick.
Jonathan just shook his head, apparently still thinking about things as Frederick's figure slipped away from him.
"Mr. Jonathan?"
"Hm?"
"Can I add something?" asked Jayden politely.
Jonathan frowned. "Add what?"
"Isn't the 00 Group under Mr. Alex's authority?"
Instantly Jonathan, who was stunned to unravel the many thoughts in his head, blinked as he realized the fact that was too obvious. He straightened his seat to think more rationally.
"That's right. So, we already know the reason why he didn't choose my hotel." Jonathan guessed. His gaze flickered sharply. "What exactly is being planned?"
Cathy went back to her room. She threw her ass over the edge of the bed until it bounced slightly. Her thoughts were very random as she clutched her cell phone.
Anticipating being bugged, Cathy headed to the bathroom with her cell phone. She looked nervous, occasionally biting her lower lip as she sat in the closed closet, thinking about things.
"Jonathan is not easily fooled. Jonathan is very smart, especially since he's a mobster. He's a good criminal," she babbled randomly. Then she widened her eyes as she felt that what she had said was too ridiculous.
"Wait! How can there be a good criminal?" Cathy laughed at herself.
"Argh!" She rubbed her rough face. "How can I laugh in a situation like this?"
Cathy continued to move her legs. Meanwhile, her brain continued to work.
"Ah!" Cathy's eyes flashed after getting an idea. "I have to do it quickly otherwise, Jonathan will be ahead."
Cathy didn't know exactly where her husband was going, but she was on guard for a lot of things since he was very clever. If Jonathan wasn't going to see Luca, that would be great. If it wasn't, it was still good.
"Luca?"
"Honey?"
"Sorry, I called you again when you were busy."
"Not really. I can manage it if you call me. How's that? Judging by the way you called me again, it seems like you want to see me."
Cathy moistened her lower lip as she pushed her medium-length hair back. "I want to meet as I said earlier. But..."
"I know. Your husband is the problem."
"It's worse than that."
"What?"
Cathy took a breath. "Listen to me! Where are you now? Are you still at the hotel?"
"I'm at the café opposite the hotel. You know what? When I'm working on a pretty good project, I need to go somewhere relaxing.
"Hurry up and leave the hotel!"
"I already told you. I'm not at the hotel, honey."
"Don't stay in that hotel anymore. Move out!" Cathy commanded in a serious tone. "You need to get out and move into a rented house. It will be much safer and more comfortable for you, Luca."
The man on the other side did not respond immediately. He was still taking in every sentence and situation. It was awkward, but Luca trusted Cathy.
"I'll give you the address of the inn. You just need to pack your things and move in. But I can't see you today. Don't worry, I'll see you afterward."
"I don't understand your situation and what happened, but I'm doing it for you."
"Thank you."
After hanging up the call, Cathy immediately sent the address of a simple rental house in the middle of the big city. It was a wooden house with a Santorini-style minimalist concept located not far from Jonathan's neighborhood.
Cathy still felt anxious even though she had already made arrangements for Luca to stay because she was worried that Jonathan would act faster.
Jonathan had also arrived at the King Hotel. His visit is warmly greeted by the hotel staff. However, they are also surprised by his unexpected arrival as the King Hotel is under the discretion of his younger brother, Alex. They were competing quite fiercely although Jonathan did not consider it a rival. In his opinion, no one could compete with the 92 Group.
"May I help you, sir?" the hotelier greeted.
"Find this guest." Jonathan handed them Luca's business card, which they readily accepted as Jonathan waited in a VVIP waiting room.
"Didn't you drink your coffee, sir?" Jayden confirmed the coffee that had begun to cool.
Jonathan didn't respond immediately. He looked at his watch and chuckled in annoyance. "Look, where's the competition? Not even twenty minutes had passed. They're so slow."
"I'll ask them to move faster."
"No!" Jonathan exclaimed, stopping Jayden in his tracks. "Can you tell a snail to walk faster? Huh?"
Jayden bowed politely and remained in place following his boss' orders along with the deafening noise.
"Oh my God! Look who's coming?"
Jonathan winced at the sight of his brother's sudden presence in their midst.
"So, this is why they're moving slowly."
