Chapter 34: Chris 2
Aleksander’s POV
I was thinking about what Elisabeth would say. I wondered how she thought so fast like that. She must be a quick-witted one.
Victoria was making her angry. I could feel it. I didn't know if it was the mating bond that is making me feel her anger or something else. I turned to Elisabeth.
"Do you think that's possible?" I asked her.
I could see Victoria opening her mouth in shock. She must have thought that my silence meant I wouldn't take up the advice. It is a brilliant one, why then should I ignore it?
Elisabeth herself was surprised and excited at the same time. She must have thought that I didn't like her idea but I did.
"Yes, it is. All you have to do is find someone that can't be recognized to go into that hotel and tell you the details you want to know. Then boom, you go ahead and get the man, then pass through the door behind" she said.
Victoria snorted.
" Do you think we are in some movie here? Alek, she's just been ridiculous" she said to me.
I ignored her and looked at Elisabeth.
"I think your idea is fine," I said to her.
She might have explained it in a way that looks childish but then I know how I was going to go about it.
"Thank you for that," I added.
I noticed Victoria gritting her teeth because I accepted Elisabeth's suggestion.
I know that Elisabeth didn't know anything about this mission but then I feel like she can handle it. I don't care what others think.
"So when do we begin?" Ava asked me.
There was a little smile playing on her lips and I wondered what that was all about.
"Ava, you will go in, while Victoria will stay out and give you signals. Then we will go through the back. Just leave the rest to Nicholas and me" I said.
We already had a set plan on how to capture Chris before now but since he changed location, we also changed a little of our strategy.
"What about me?" Elisabeth said.
I looked at her with a confused look.
"About you?" I asked her.
I was not the only one looking at her. The rest were. I don't understand what she's talking about.
"Yes. I can also help out. Moreover, you need me. I doubt if the people you are going to meet won't recognize Ava. I'm the only person no one knows here. I can easily slip in and out without anyone knowing" she said with enthusiasm.
Although what she said made a whole lot of sense but then I wasn't ready to risk it. I don't want to get her hurt. Just thinking about her getting hurt was already making my heart shake.
"No! You're going nowhere" I snapped.
" You think I'm not capable enough? I know I've not really worked on a crime but I did a lot of training with my Alpha. I know what to do" she said with confidence.
It was as if the training she was talking about was another thing to me. Wasn't she brought as a slave? Why then will she train with her Alpha? This uneasiness arose within me and I frowned.
"Lisa, I know you really want to help but then, it is too dangerous. The man we are going to meet is not soft flesh. You might get hurt" Nicholas said calmly.
" Won't you all also get hurt? If you can do it, so do I" she said, not giving up.
I didn't know why she was this stubborn. I'm not going to let her.
"This is different. We are professionals" Ava said.
Ava too didn't want her to go. Elisabeth became sad but she didn't stop arguing.
"Don't underestimate me. I know a lot" Elisabeth said.
Victoria's face rose with irritation.
"Why are you sticking your nose to where it shouldn't be? If you are ready to die, you should return to your home before you are said to have died in slavery" she said harshly.
Now I've gotten the height of Victoria insulting Elisabeth.
"Silence!" I growled at her.
She quickly bowed when she saw that I was angry.
"I'm sorry my King. Just that she needed to be put in her place or else she would cause trouble for us" Victoria said while still bowing.
" If I hear one more word from you again, I will feed you to the shark," I said with a hostile voice.
I always knew I tolerated Victoria too much and it was because we grew up together like a family. No one aside from my siblings has ever had the audacity to speak in my presence without me telling them to speak.
"I think I have indulged you too much Victoria. That's the reason you do not know the right choice of words to use when I'm seated" I said to her with a firm thick voice.
I could tell that she shrinks in fear. She knows I could be a devil if I want to be. I then looked at Elisabeth. She wore an unhappy look. Well, that wasn't the look I expected. Shouldn't she be happy that I scolded someone who insulted her? That girl is not a predictable one.
"Elisabeth you aren't going and that's final," I said to her.
Then she gave me her puppy wet eyes and she pouted her lips. That was my undoing. I don't want this little one sad because of me. Her smile is what I crave for.
"You have to understand me. I am trying to protect you here. I can't have you get hurt" I said in a calm voice.
I was surprised at the way I was talking to Elisabeth. I wasn't patient enough to speak calmly to anyone. Once I set my order, no one dares to refute it or the person faces my wrath.
Elisabeth shook her head.
"It's not like I'm doing anything. All I'll just do is enter like a casual customer and tell you the state of the place. Moreover, Ava and I can go in. I'll just make way for Ava" she explained.
Looking at her face, I knew she wasn't ready to give up. Then a thought dropped into my mind.
What if we leave and she follows us without our consent? That wouldn't be good at all. So I should have her close.
"Ok fine but you must follow everything that you are told" I give up.
Then she rewarded me with that beautiful smile. I could see how eager she was to help and the edges of my lips twisted.
"Thank you, your Highness," she said with excitement.
I heard Nicholas and Ava murmuring to themselves. They were looking at me like I caught some sudden disease. I looked at them with a stern look and they adjusted.
For the next hour, we were talking about where we were going. Everyone has their opinion, and we then put down a solid plan.
"Why are you having Alek's smell all over you?" I heard Ava say.
Elisabeth choked and started to cough. Ava quickly passed her water.
"Did I say something wrong?" She asked when she saw I was glaring at her.
"Ava!" Elisabeth called.
I could see a blush staining her cheek. Ava loves to create trouble and I know that's what she was trying to do right now and I felt like throwing her something. I know she might have guessed that Elisabeth and I slept with each other and that's what she was trying to point out. That silly girl.
"What? I only noticed that you have Alek's smell all over you when it's not as if you two are rubbing bodies together" she said intentionally.
" Are you courting death?" I growled at her.
Ava wasn't scared of my growl at all. Well, it does not show that I was angry. It was just a warning growl.
"Ava, don't be ridiculous. This is his room and it's normal if it is filled with his smell. Don't think too much" Elisabeth said with embarrassment.
I wondered what was running through her mind but then that naughty Ava got me thinking about our day together. It's really what I crave for right now. If it wasn't for the mission we are heading for, I would have sent everyone away and restarted what we were doing the other time.
Then I heard someone's voice in my head.
"Next time you two are making out, you can at least take a shower before letting anyone close. You two smell each other and it is really obvious. Why do you think Victoria is not happy with Lisa?"
That was Nicholas mocking the voice in my head. I looked at him and he gave me a smirk.
"As if I got the chance to?" I murmured.
It was only Nicholas that understood why I said that. The rest didn't even care about what I was saying. Ava didn't stop teasing Elisabeth who is almost the color of a red apple. Victoria was looking at me with sad eyes. Well, she should be sad because I rarely scold her.
I wouldn't have needed to scold her if she was just as obedient as before and not attacking Elisabeth. I know I'm behaving too overprotective, but it's how I'm feeling.
"Make sure to take care of Elisabeth well" I mind-linked Ava.
" Yes, lover boy," she said in the same manner.
I looked at her with a frown and she winked at me.
"You all you go prepare" I ordered and everyone aside Elisabeth stood up.
"Good luck to us all" Nicholas said as he headed for the door
The rest replied but I didn't. I don't believe in luck, I only believe in strength.
When they left, I pounced on Elisabeth, who was lying on the bed looking at the ceiling. The scene from a few hours ago played in my mind. I want to react.
"What are you doing?" She asked me if I caught her unawares.
"What do you think?" I asked her with a sly smile on my lips.
"We are to prepare?" She said in a low tone.
" I know. But I have to get my good luck charm."
I said as if I believe in good luck. It was just an opportunity to kiss her before we went and I did. I didn't even wait for her to talk before crashing my lips on her. This woman is so delicious.
I could stay like this all my life. She's just like a perfect peace to my troubling heart. She wrapped her hands around me and gave me full access to her delicious taste.
