Chapter 110 : Save my son!
Ella: "Did she mention a name or something Lisa?" I curiously asked her while walking towards the living room. Is this another one of Mr. Holt's surprises? "Apologies, she claimed to be a certain Mrs.Jackson" Lisa replied. As I entered the room, I saw a very frail-looking 65 something elderly lady dressed in a floral dress with leggings getting up to meet me as I approached her. "Good evening, I'm Joe's mother" she introduced herself as I stood still, numb, unable to react. Despite dating Joe for over a year, he never introduced me to his family, always acting suspiciously whenever the topic of a family get-together arose. Now I know, he was never really serious about me which is why I never perhaps met his mother. "I'm sorry to be bothering you at this time but I did not know what else to do…she spoke helplessly, tears beginning to form at the corners of her eyes continuing, "What he did is way beyond forgiveness but I'm a mother after all whose child has been behind bars since the past few weeks." Unable to hold back her tears, she started crying, looking down, unable to meet my eyes. Although I felt sorry for the poor lady, I could not muster enough courage to forgive him for all that he has done. "Do you know I still have flashes of that awful evening? I get up in the middle of the night, my heart palpitating so rapidly I might die any moment? Justice needs to have its own way over here. I'm sorry but I cannot pardon your son!!" I sternly stated. Nodding her head she replied wailing, falling to the ground, touching my feet, "I am sorry a thousand times on his behalf. I have been running from pillar to post despite having arthritis and a weak heart but nobody paid heed as they all answer to your husband-to-be-Mr.Holt. You are blessed with a new beginning, please give my son a chance for your forgiveness, and decent life, he is all I have. Perhaps you will understand my pain when you become a mother someday!! Having been used to dropping down to Mary's feet helplessly on numerous occasions, it felt wretched watching an old lady clutching my feet begging for forgiveness. I held her by the arms and helped her get up, escorting the fragile lady to the sofa to have a seat. Offering her a glass of water, I wiped her tears comforting her, "Please stop crying, I shall withdraw my complaint tomorrow alright?" Smiling through her tears she said with disbelief, "Oh will you, really?" Consoling her I replied, "Yes I will, only because I know if my mother was alive, she would have gone above and beyond just like you to save me" (Getting up) "I shall take your leave then my dear, thank you so much and I wish you and Mr. Holt a very long and happy married life!" she replied walking towards the door. Just then, I heard footsteps approaching down the hallway…Oh my God, I hope it isn't Mr. Holt, what am I going to tell him? and saw Lisa with…. (Sighing) My day cannot seem to get any worse!!!
