Chapter 111 : We’re all family!!
Ella: Watching Mary's fake ass walk in with her equally fake daughter made my heart drop a couple of tons to the ground. Mary wore a pink halterneck top and tight bootleg jeans looking as though she would pick up a customer outside a cheap NY club while Bridget was dressed in a white strappy mini dress. Pushing her botox lips too far apart, she sported a sham smile cooing, "Ella, my dearest daughter, how are you darling?" she asked, hugging and kissing me with absolutely zero affection from my end. "I am fine Mary, why are you here?" I questioned blatantly. It took every ounce of my strength to walk away from the conversation and them. "Well well, do I need a reason to visit my own child? We received your wedding invitation last weekend and today, it just so happens that I was visiting a friend who lives around the corner so thought why not drop by and congratulate you!!!" "(Raising my eyebrows) How very convenient!!" I stated rudely fully aware of the fact that none of her trashy friends lived anywhere nearby. She was here to snoop her plastic nose in my business and she was going to have none of it. This is why I was sceptical when James asked if we should invite Mary and family. (Making a phoney regretful face) "I know I might have been a little tough on you Ellikins but believe it or not(looking towards a clearly envious Bridget), we're really happy to see you achieve such a big milestone in life!!" Grinning sarcastically I replied, "Oh, is it? I thought you wanted to get me married to a waiter washing dishes at Four Seasons as opposed to getting married AT THE FOUR SEASONS!!! (emphasizing on the latter) I could clearly see Mary holding back her anger, clenching that phoney jaw, nonetheless smiling! "You seem to be harbouring a lot of anger towards us and I understand that, but at the end of the day (caressing my cheek) we're all family Ella!" (Mentally exhausted) I nonchalantly quip, "I guess" Trying to cheer me up, she asked, "So how have you been generally?" "Really busy with the planning and everything" I responded thinking of all the other to-do things for today. After being nudged endlessly from Mary's end (I noticed it all), Bridget reluctantly uttered, "Let us know if you require any help from our end" "Yes please do, Have you selected your bridesmaids?" Mary asked as Bridget rolled her eyes embarrassed at Mary's out of line behaviour. "Yes, I have Mary" I replied restlessly wondering how long it will be before they finally leave!! "Ooooh, so when are the naughty bachelorette and other occasions?" Mary winked suggestively at me. "Well, the girls have organised my bachelorette for tomorrow, then we have the toast day after for a curated guest list (they weren't invited) following by the grand wedding and reception (where I'd have to tolerate them)" "Sounds exciting, hope you've been keeping well, it must be so tiring talking to guests all day…by the way who was that old lady crying in front of you a while ago?" Mary pretended to innocently ask. And she's back to her devious motives…!! "Just someone who wanted help" I quietly replied, not wanting to set her off on any trail. "You're always so giving, I'm sure you'll help her! (hugging me) we shall get going then! See you at the wedding bride-to-be!!" As they left, I bolted towards my room and jumped straight into bed for an evening nap. What a long day it had been!!
