Chapter 73 Go to the Amusement Park

After some time to rest up, Daphne was feeling a lot better. She was eating more small meals a day, and there was healthier glow on her face.

Today was one of those perfect sunny days, and it was Christmas.

Carl decided to skip work today. After spending some time in his study, he headed back to the bedroom.

Daphne had just finished her shower, her hair still damp and hanging down her back.

She looked up as Carl walked in. "Done with work?"

"Yeah," Carl replied.

He added, "The weather's great. How about we hit the amusement park?"

"Huh?"

Daphne was in the middle of putting on face cream and was a bit puzzled by the sudden suggestion.

Carl felt a bit awkward too since he wasn't really into places meant for kids.

But Jade had mentioned it last time. Since the whole Morgan Family mess, Daphne hadn't really had any fun.

Last time it snowed, they built a snowman together, and Daphne was happy for days.

The doctors also said a good mood would help her recover. So, to keep Daphne from getting sick again and being a bother, Carl decided to take her out for some fun.

Trying to stay cool, Carl said, "The Ward Group has a new project to check out. You can come along and test it out."

"Okay, let me change first." Daphne's eyes lit up with excitement.

Even though Carl made it sound like work, she was thrilled to go out. It had been years since she'd been to an amusement park.

At the villa entrance, Evelyn and Maya kept reminding Daphne not to drink cold water, to wear a mask, and to come back early if she got tired.

Carl, getting impatient with all the fuss, grabbed Daphne's scarf from Evelyn and wrapped it around her head, covering her completely.

Daphne struggled to peek out with a slightly annoyed look.

Carl said, "Why are you looking at me like that? This way you won't be cold."

Evelyn chimed in, "Mr. Ward, that's not how you wrap a scarf."

Seeing Carl's messy attempt, Evelyn quickly rewrapped the scarf properly around Daphne.

"Who pays your salary here? I don't see anyone wrapping a scarf for me," Carl grumbled, a bit annoyed.

This made Evelyn and Maya laugh. Daphne giggled too, grabbed his scarf from the coat rack, stood on her tiptoes, and wrapped it neatly around Carl's neck.

As they got into the car, Maya sighed to Evelyn, "Mr. Ward is really good to Daphne."

Evelyn turned to Maya, looking surprised.

"Maya, are you serious? I feel bad for Mrs. Ward."

"Huh?"

Seeing Maya's confused look, Evelyn shook her head and said, "Mrs. Ward is too good. It's tough for her to be with Mr. Ward, who's so blunt."

Maya looked at Evelyn, who was feeling sorry for Daphne.

"Mr. Ward may be blunt, but he never hesitates when it comes to Daphne. Besides us, who else can take care of her as thoughtfully as he can?"

Evelyn didn't agree with Maya at all. In her heart, no one could match Daphne. However, if Carl could change a bit more, he might barely be a match.

In the car, Carl couldn't help but sneeze. He thought, 'It's strange. The car is warm enough, and Daphne is fine. Could someone be talking about me behind my back?'

For convenience, Daphne wore a fitted hoodie inside and a short yellow down jacket outside. Her skinny jeans highlighted her waist and legs.

Daphne usually didn't wear tight clothes. Now, looking at her waist-to-hip ratio, she was no less than some fitness girls. Carl didn't expect her to have such a good figure.

Daphne saw him in a daze and couldn't help but call out to him, "Carl? Aren't you getting out?"

Daphne had already gotten out of the car and saw him still sitting and staring at her.

Coming back to his senses, Carl blushed but got out of the car without showing any emotion.

At the amusement park entrance, Daphne was clearly excited, even if she tried to hide it.

There were cotton candy vendors at the entrance, with a few couples in line and some kids picking out their favorite ones. Daphne couldn't help but look a bit longer.

They were next in line at the entrance. After passing the ticket check, they saw a large fountain pool with pink-themed decorations, very cute.

"Carl, do you want to ride that?"

Daphne pointed to a very noticeable double-decker carousel not far away.

Following her finger, Carl decisively refused. "No."

"That pink unicorn looks so nice. Which one do you want to ride?" As she spoke, Daphne took Carl's hand and walked towards it.

"None."

"The little lion looks nice, you should ride that."

Carl remained silent.

Then Carl, looking dejected, sat on a not-so-ferocious little lion carousel, while next to him was a pink and white unicorn. Daphne was happily sitting on it, turning her head to smile at him.

Seeing how happy she was, he accepted it. After getting off the carousel, Daphne started looking for the next target.

"Do you dare to ride that?" Carl pointed to the flying chairs.

It was obvious that Daphne hesitated. She said, "That one is for one person."

The flying chairs had single seats and were quite high. But after thinking for a moment, Daphne nodded. "Should we try it?"

"Are you sure?"

Carl intended to joke, thinking Daphne wouldn't dare to ride any high-altitude rides. Seeing Daphne nod again, he agreed.
