Chapter 259
After Leon finished talking, Caitlin chuckled, thinking he was showing off again. "You always like to brag. But if I have the time, I'll go with you."
Leon nodded, knowing that the military transfer ceremony would attract many important figures. Caitlin might meet some influential people there, which could benefit her business.
Meanwhile, at the Clark Mansion, Charlotte, Spencer, and Philip were gathered.
These three were the leaders of the prominent families in Angel City, and their gathering indicated something significant was about to happen.
Standing opposite them was a man with a commanding presence. Though he hadn't spoken, his mere presence made them all nervous.
After a moment, Charlotte mustered the courage to speak, "Mr. Corleone, why didn't you let us know you were coming to Angel City? We could have prepared a proper welcome."
Alexander replied calmly, "I came back for your sake. If I hadn't returned, your families would be facing extinction."
Charlotte and the others' faces changed at his words, clearly indicating Alexander's anger.
Alexander continued, "While I was away from Angel City, I tasked you with dealing with the president of the Eagle Group. Not only did you fail, but you also lost the Turner family. Is this your accomplishment?"
The trio grew even more fearful, not daring to speak.
Alexander then said, "If I'm not mistaken, you all plan to attend the Rock State military transfer ceremony, right?"
"Yes," they replied.
Alexander said, "I won't stop you from attending the ceremony, but I have a task for you."
"Please, tell us. We will definitely complete it," they responded.
Alexander gave a peculiar smile and said, "You all know Leon, right?"
"Yes, he has thwarted several of the Clark family's plans. Without him, the Clark family would already be the most powerful in Rock State," Charlotte answered.
Alexander said, "He's a troublesome guy. I've gathered some information on him. He's an agent for the president of the Eagle Group and has some power. Due to my special status, I can't deal with him directly. I need you to eliminate Leon before the ceremony."
Spencer asked, "Mr. Corleone, since Leon is an agent for the Eagle Group, how much of their power can he wield?"
Alexander replied, "Not much, but it's still significant. You must join forces to take him down!"
Charlotte nodded, "I see. Now it all makes sense. I was puzzled why my plans to deal with the Sunshine Group kept failing and getting disrupted."
"Now I know it's because Leon has the support of the Eagle Group."
"Mr. Corleone, thank you for the heads-up. Without it, the Clark family would be in trouble. Since you've given us this task, we'll join forces and make sure to eliminate him."
Alexander said, "I'll keep the Eagle Group busy so they can't help him. You need to act fast. Once you complete this task, I won't impose any restrictions on you in the future."
"Really?" Charlotte asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Yes, we understand. We'll get it done and make you proud," Spencer added, determination in his voice.
Charlotte and the others were thrilled. The idea of gaining their freedom seemed almost too good to be true.
Especially Charlotte, who had always wanted to take over the Sunshine Group but had held back for fear of angering Sebastian. Now, with Alexander's backing, she had nothing to fear.
Alexander's expression remained cold. He had received news that Harlan had failed. He also knew that a Marine Corps instructor would attend the ceremony, which prompted him to issue orders to Charlotte and the others. If Leon's identity was exposed, Alexander believed Charlotte and the others wouldn't dare to go after him. At that point, some of Alexander's plans would fail, which he couldn't allow.
After Alexander left, Charlotte and the others began to discuss.
Philip said, "Charlotte, you're the most familiar with Leon. Do you think we have a good shot at taking him down?"
Charlotte replied, "In the past, I didn't know his true situation, which caused problems. But now that I know he has some of the Eagle Group's power, I know how to deal with him. As long as you all help me, we can complete the task easily."
Spencer smiled and said, "It seems Mr. Corleone isn't having a good time in Crystal City. He's willing to grant us freedom just to get rid of Leon, so we should work hard to complete the task."
Philip raised another concern, "Spencer, if we do manage to take down Leon, what if Alexander goes back on his word?"
Spencer said, "Have you just met Alexander? He's a man of his word. If we complete the task, he'll keep his promise. Even if he doesn't, if we unite, do you think we'd be afraid of him?"
Charlotte said, "Alexander isn't as intimidating as he used to be, but Sienna controls the Brown family, which is our biggest concern."
Philip sighed, "That's right. Under Sienna's control, the Brown family is stronger than ever, so we can't refuse this task."
Philip continued, "But we need to eliminate Leon before the ceremony. Do you have any ideas?"
Spencer thought for a moment and said, "Using conventional methods probably won't work. How about we enlist the help of the Mafia?"
Charlotte shook her head, "No, the current Mafia boss, Bradley, is also an enemy's subordinate. If we inform the Mafia, we'll be the first to die."
At that moment, Damon Palmer, the heir of the Palmer family, spoke up, "Can I share my thoughts?"
Charlotte and the others turned to Damon. Spencer asked, "Damon, do you have a good plan?"
Damon nodded, "Yeah, I think I do. Instead of going after Leon directly, we should create a situation where he has no choice but to come to us. We can set a trap that he can't resist."
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, "And how do you propose we do that?"
Damon leaned in, "We know Leon cares about the people close to him. We use them as bait. We create a scenario where he has to come to their rescue. Once he's isolated, we strike."
Philip looked skeptical, "That sounds risky. What if it backfires?"
Damon shrugged, "It's a risk, but it's our best shot. We need to be smart about this. If we play our cards right, we can take him down without drawing too much attention."
Charlotte nodded slowly, "Alright, let's do it. We'll need to plan this carefully. Everyone needs to be on board and ready to act."
Spencer grinned, "Sounds like a plan. Let's get to work."
With their course of action decided, the group began to strategize, each determined to see the task through and secure their freedom.
