CHAPTER 142
CHAPTER 142
ANASTASIA
The truck was getting nearer to his point with speed.
I had no time to think of a way out, because Woods had pounced off the tree, coming at me!
The moment I saw this, I swiftly tumbled forward, dodging him before those claws of his could grab me.
"Crap!" I almost fell off the truck but managed to get my balance, staggering away from the edge, before dropping my attention right on Woods.
He stood at the end, staring at me with a devilish grin plastered across his face, like one who has finally cornered his prey.
"Oh, Anna. Do I have to remind you over and over again?" He chuckled, stepping forward.
"No matter how far you run, I will always catch you. You're powerless before me," He bragged, diminishing my strength.
I drew back a bit, tempted to reach for the gun under my dress. That's when Woods said, gazing at my twitching finger, "Even with that gun, you can't take me down."
So he knows.
"I am different from the others. Wild... Deadly... Unstoppable. Before you pull the trigger, I'll have you down in a blink of an eye."
"Is that so?" I smirked, having a change of plan.
"How about we try something new then?" I said, taking a stance, with my fists positioned like a fighter.
When Woods saw this, he busted into laughter.
"Tell me you're joking?" He cackled harder, squatting down.
"You want to combat with me? Are you really asking for pain, my darling?" He smirked, tilting his head to the side.
"You said it yourself. If I run, you'll still get me. If I shoot, you'll pin me down before I blink. So, I guess this is my only way out of your horny hunt. After all, you did say you're tempted to see what else I'm capable of. Why don't you find out now," I challenged, beckoning him closer.
It might seem like a stupid idea, but it's my only solution right now.
"Come on, old man. Are you afraid I'll beat you?" I mocked.
Woods found my invitation alluring. The way he ran his claw against his hairy chest, showed this old creep was visualizing this situation into a sexy point of view.
Horny bastard.
"I'm going to enjoy this," He spoke deeply, placing both hands down.
In a flash, Woods came at me.
His hands aiming for my shoulders, ready to slam me flat.
Honestly, Woods speed can't be read easily by any normal werewolf. He's an Alpha. And when you're in that rank, it's like a higher power from above, increases your strength, making you stronger than any other rank.
If it's anyone in my position, they'd be flattened before they even say a word. But in my case... It was completely different.
As soon as I saw Woods in my face, my wolf strength was activated, unleashing a powerful punch that slammed into the Alpha's face with force, sending him tumbling backwards!
He almost fell off the truck but hanged on, looking at me in shock!
"What's the matter? Did life flash before your eyes?" I giggled, beckoning him over again.
"I'm wide open," I played, spreading my arms wide.
Now he was mad.
He must have noticed something unusual about that hit, but didn't want to believe it.
When he came at me again, Woods and I dived into a swift combat, throwing hits at each other!
Every strike he made, I was able to block them with my arms or legs, returning it back harder and rougher.
From one punch to a double. I avoided a hit he made, landing him an uppercut right under the jaw with my right fist, before throwing him a powerful strike right on the cheek, almost sending him off the truck the second time.
That last hit was really strong because Woods, who managed to get back on his feet, spat out blood.
The blood came from his tongue. He bit himself.
He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw his own blood before him.
That got him growling, throwing me a deadly glare.
In rage, he attacked, but violently.
He was trying hard to rain his terror on me while I was beating his ass from different corners.
Heaven knows I wouldn't be fighting like this if it wasn't for Diego.
He told me something that left me stunned, about his fight with my wolf that very night my body drifted into the last stage of the infection.
Diego revealed my Wolf's strength and took it upon himself to make sure my wolf's ability is put into good use.
Yes, we may have been hanging out and making out a lot, but in the secret, he has been giving me tough lessons.
From combat to gun handling... He has been teaching me without anyone else knowing.
Even Sonia, Arnold, and Jeremy have no idea about this.
"I'll shape you into the deadliest Mafia Queen in the land," Diego had whispered to me lovingly, guiding my finger around the trigger of his gun.
And I vowed with all of my heart to become the most unstoppable Mafia Queen, fighting by my Alpha's side.
Woods will serve as an example.
He was still throwing hands with me, struggling to find a weak point. But no matter his attempts, I gave him no luck.
I fought, almost matching his level. And this began to frustrate the Alpha.
He's losing it.
His aggressiveness ignited a stronger side in him, which changed his moves like a switch, making him land a strike on my left arm.
When I managed to land a knee to his face, Woods didn't fall back like before. He twitched creepily, revealing the reason behind his change.
"The infection. Is he in the last stage?" I suspected, wisely drawing back to avoid him, thinking of a way out.
Woods took this as my defeat, believing he finally found a way to trap me.
"Why did you stop?" He jumped at me.
I rolled to the end of the truck, making sure I don't fall off.
"We were just getting to the most interesting part, my dear. Come on, give me more. I want to see all of you," He spoke with delight, getting fired up.
Instead of giving him what he wanted... "Fuck you." I pulled out my gun and blasted the trigger, aiming for his face.
He dodged, avoiding the bullet from striking his face. But when the heaven says it must happen... It must.
"ARGH!" I heard him scream out loudly.
He then turned over to reveal a bloody spot at the side of his head.
His ear... The bullet shot it off!
"YOU... YOU!!" He sparked, about to attack.
My plan was to jump off the truck to a different vehicle, but an unexpected scene took place before me, changing everything.
Just as Woods was about to charge at me, another Werewolf came stomping on his head from above—with force— flattening the Alpha down.
Then with speed, this werewolf grabbed me into his arms and pounced off the truck, heading into the opposite direction.
This action forced the vehicles following the truck from behind, to pull their breaks at once at the sight of the big wolf.
I wasn't afraid when this happened. In fact, I was relieved.
"Thank the goddess you're here," I said with happiness, burying myself in the hold of my Alpha Lord.
He held me tight, taking a swift look behind to see if Woods was coming.
Indeed he was.
Boy does he look mad.
"I'm impressed. You really went head to head with Woods."
"I sliced an ear off with one bullet," I bragged, blowing the mouth of my gun to show off.
This made Diego proud.
"That's my Queen," He commented, changing his route into the forest quickly.
When I saw this, I asked, "Were are we going?"
"There's been a slight change in my plan. But don't worry, we're still following the main mission," Diego assured me, moving fast.
I trust him wholeheartedly.
Since he was focused on the pathway, I became his back-eye, monitoring Woods pace.
"He's on our tail," I notified him, watching how the restless Alpha chased us, ignoring the state he was in.
"We're almost there," Diego said, going faster.
I held on tight, turning forward to see what looked like an open road ahead of us.
When I turned back to keep watch on Woods... "DIEGO!!" I screamed in shock, my eyes locking closely with Woods!
He's right behind Diego!
Before Diego could react, Woods had gotten on my Alpha's back, wrapping his arms around his neck tightly, nearly getting Diego to let go of me.
My Alpha held me with one arm, using the other to clench on to Woods, struggling to pull him off.
When I saw this, I forced myself out of Diego's hold and launched myself at Woods, grabbing his neck the same way he held Diego.
He wasn't going to budge, until he felt the mouth of the gun pointing right at his bloody wound.
That made Woods lose his grip, aiming for my gun.
But his action paved way for Diego to grab him from the head, tossing the Alpha out to the open road with force!
I already got off when Diego launched him off his back.
Woods tumbled hard, crashing into a tree. But despite his bruises, he got to his feet, refusing to back down.
My plan was to send a bullet into his body, but the gun just clicked, releasing nothing.
"I'm out of bullets," I groaned, tossing the gun away.
"If you think I'll let go of Anna that easily, then you're wrong," He barked, cracking his neck bone, getting into position.
"She's coming with me."
"Then take her," Diego dared him, passing a message to Woods when he didn't stand in my front to shield me like he expected.
"She's right here, Woods. I dare you," He challenged boldly, pleasing my heart.
Woods understood what Diego was saying. He looked at me for a brief second, and it felt like he was recalling what happened on the truck.
He knows well that he won't be facing Diego alone. I'll get involved, and that'll be double the attack.
He knows this, yet... he accepted the challenge, coming at me.
He hasn't gotten halfway to my point when Diego and I both moved in sync, attacking Woods.
From every corner, we landed powerful hits on the Alpha, giving him no chance to face the other for a fight.
We became one in this battle, giving Woods something he didn't expect.
He had no chance, not even an opening.
Woods was going to throw a hit at Diego, but I targeted that arm with my elbow, making him yell, directing his attention on me.
The moment he did that, Woods was immediately shocked by Diego, who grabbed his false arm and gave him a kick in the ribs, forcing the Alpha's body to separate from the arm.
When it was pulled away from the socket, Woods gave out a painful roar, covering the opening—which was gushing out blood—with his other hand, drawing away from us.
He can't fight back. He's weak!
As he kept drawing away and we moved closer to him, the lonely road suddenly got crowded with Woods accomplices, who came speeding out of the forest, pointing their guns at us.
All of them; Alphas, Betas... Just name all the bastards in partnership with Woods.
They were here.
They weren't the only ones who came out to help their boss.
"I hope we're not too late, Alpha," Arnold spoke from behind, stepping forward to stand with us.
He came with our backups, all positioned in different areas on the trees, waiting for Diego's command.
When Woods saw this, he laughed at our number and said to Diego, "You keep forgetting that I have a higher force against you, Boy. Now I'll put you in your place."
"Are you sure about that?" Diego smirked.
To Woods surprise, his accomplices directed their guns away from my Alpha, pointing it at him!
"What... What's this nonsense?!" Woods questioned, glancing at their faces.
"The nonsense you see is your reality, Woods," Diego grinned.
"I now rule the underworld," He revealed, shocking not only Woods but me as well!
"Goddess, he did it!" I celebrated within, struggling to hold back my joy.
This was his ultimate plan all along, and he succeeded!
Woods couldn't believe this.
"You're insane if you think I'll fall for this joke! Take these guns out of my face or else I'll..."
BANG! One of the Alphas shot his gun into the air, silencing Woods.
Diego chuckled, "Do you want me to demonstrate further?"
Woods shivered in his spot. Finally he came face to face with the reality.
"Don't look surprised. I just followed your own tactics. The only difference is that my approach is way better than yours," Diego bragged, as Arnold pulled out the container of the cure, showing Woods.
When he saw it, he figured it out.
"It's you. The mysterious wolf with the cure." He gazed at Diego with his mouth dropped, before looking in my direction, locking eyes with me.
That's when Woods laughed out, swaying his head. "You really played me, Anastasia. You gave me no chance to suspect you or Diego. How smart!"
He cackled louder, looking like a lunatic.
"What's next? Make me face the same fate as your brother and father? You've been hunting me down for long. Surely you'll want me to go through that pain."
"There's a much better option for you," Diego replied, collecting a weird liquid and syringe from Arnold.
It looked nothing like the infected drug or the cure.
What is that?
"Before I shove this into your system, I want you to tell me who your partner is."
"What are you talking about?"
"No need to play mind games with me. While you were busy chasing after my Luna, I sent my men on a tour to SilverCrest, and they had a lot of details about your special drug," Diego chuckled, leaving the Alpha astonished.
"Your Beta is a reasonable fellow. Just one threat and he immediately spilled all the bean in his guts."
"The drug you always carry about, selling to the Mafias, making yourself superior to them... isn't even your creation nor did you make it with your own hands. It was made by someone else, and you're the only one who knows his identity and location."
Even I didn't know about this.
When did Diego gather this information?
"Now..." He drew closer to Woods, drawing out the liquid with the syringe. "Your decision will decide the kind of death you want. If you cooperate with me, you get a painless death. A bullet to the head, and that's all."
"But if you refuse to tell me who this fellow is, I'll insert this drug into your body, and you won't like the result."
"And you think I'll tell you a thing? I rather take this drug into my blood and dine with devil, than tell you who it is. That's your own problem now, Alpha Lord," Woods scoffed, refusing Diego.
My Alpha didn't waste his breathe on Woods for the second time. He gave him a stomp on the chest—pinning him to the ground—as he injected the liquid into his neck.
"What liquid is... Grr...AH!!" Woods screamed as Diego kept injecting this substance into his body.
Whatever it was, it sure felt painful to Woods.
Once he was done, he drew away from Woods and ordered the Mafias, tossing the syringe into the bushes, "Dispose of his corpse when he rottens up."
"Rotten?" I picked that word, wondering if I heard wrong.
But to everyone's surprise, Woods began yelling, as his body began... Rotting?!
"Oh fuck!" I covered my mouth, watching Woods fur falling off his body completely, revealing the damage taking place on his body from within.
The Mafias were terrified, watching this horror show.
Even his screams were unbearable. I couldn't stand it. So, I drew away to a corner, turning my back to avoid watching.
But something caught my attention from between two trees in the bushes.
Someone was watching the whole execution!
Someone I... I know!
"Father?" I gasped, recognizing my Dad.
He was witnessing Woods punishment, horrified by his screams and decomposition.
He drew away in fear when Woods made another piercing shriek.
It made father stagger, grabbing a tree for support. That's when he noticed he was being watched and turned to find me staring at him.
Our eyes came locking in an instant.
Father was petrified, knowing now that Diego is indeed a Mafia and... And his daughter is by his side.
"Father," I mouthed, not knowing what to do next.
But he knew what to do.
He ran off without looking back.
My heart sank. I felt like going after him, but a big hand fell on my shoulder, making me shiver.
Turning around, I found Diego standing next to me.
"What happened?" He asked worriedly, squatting to my level.
I couldn't speak but felt weak.
Diego thought it was due to Woods screams and pulled me into his arms comforting me.
"I'm sorry you had to witness that. Let's go."
He lifted me into his arms, walking away from the scene.
I could no longer hear Woods voice. It was clear that he was finally dead.
But my mind was on father.
What will he think of Diego after witnessing this?
