Chapter 83 The Parker family comes to the door

Although there was a celebration dinner tonight, Asher knew what Avery meant when she said that.

For the past three years, the family had not been able to eat enough every time they attended a family dinner, especially Samuel. Every time Asher ate more than Samuel he suffered his relentless taunts that he was a starving man who had never eaten such delicious food.

Cameron often scolded Asher, criticizing him for being embarrassing and never being satisfied.

He just hoped that there wouldn't be any more accidents at tonight's celebration.

Asher was starting to feel a bit scared. Every time he attended any family banquet at the Morgan family mansion, something would inevitably go wrong, and most of the time it had something to do with their family.

Today was a big day for the Morgan family.

In Grandma's words, the Morgan family had the potential to surpass their position in New York for decades.

From a second-rate family to a first-rate family.

Of course, this didn't mean that their investments had instantly made them impressive with some money earned. This was just a good starting point for the beginning of the cooperation with Fly Pictures. If they continued on this path, the Morgan family's influence in New York would only grow.

Becoming a first-rate family was within reach.

When Asher and Avery arrived, the mansion's hall was already filled with people enthusiastically discussing the investment and cooperation with Fly Pictures. Naturally, the loudest voice belonged to Samuel, who had previously been beaten up by the Adams family. Now, dressed in a clean suit, he was chatting and fantasizing about the bright future of the Morgan family with the younger generation of Morgans.

The lively conversations subsided a bit when Asher and Avery entered.

They couldn't help but admit that it was due to Avery's tremendous effort that they were able to achieve such a significant cooperation with Fly Pictures. Avery had been in charge of organizing the investment and cooperation signing.

After all, Avery was a direct descendant of the Morgan family. Although she had been mocked because of her worthless husband, she was beautiful and capable, and many young Morgans respected her.

Asher was a different story.

Asher had mostly shed the title of being worthless, but in their eyes, he was only relying on some supernatural abilities. In this society, having superpowers without money or influence meant nothing.

However, there was one thing that surprised everyone, as it was rumored that on the day of Grandma's birthday banquet, Asher and Avery had gone to the Adams family's TJ Hotel and caused a scene. What amazed them even more was that Asher and Lucas had apparently even had a conversation.

This made them look at Asher in a different light.

Of course, this was just a rumor.

However, what puzzled the Morgan family was that after that incident, the Adams family was quiet, and the Morgan family hadn't caused any trouble again since the incident of forcibly acquiring Pear Mountain came to naught.

Was it really Asher who did it?

Soon enough, Samuel offered a counterargument, stating that it wasn't Asher's accomplishment but Lucas's.

It was widely known that while Lucas came from a prominent family, he was a person of strong character, loyalty, and rationality. As for his younger brother Matthew, he was nothing more than a waste, bullying others by virtue of the Adams family's power.

Lucas must have found out about this and put a stop to Matthew. Buying Pear Mountain for $300,000 was simply bullying, and it also harmed the reputation of the Adams family. They were more inclined to believe Samuel's account rather than attributing it to Asher's efforts.

Asher had always been seen as a waste by them, so if they admitted that a waste had done something they wouldn't dare to imagine, wouldn't that be slapping their own faces?

"Look, isn't it the waste son-in-law of the Morgan family?" Sensing the crowd's commotion, Samuel, who had been bragging, immediately noticed Asher and Avery as he let out a disdainful laugh.

"You can call yourself a waste, but we have the means to support you. However, how can such a waste like you not stay out of trouble?" Samuel never held back his disdain towards Asher.

"Yeah, haven't you heard? Asher beat up Arthur, and he didn't hold back."

"Arthur? How come I haven't heard about it?"

"You definitely didn't catch up on celebrity news these past few days. This guy uploaded the video of him attacking Arthur online. It was a real beating. Come, take a look. I even saved the video."

Whispers broke out among the people in the villa's hall, pointing and talking about Asher. Many of the things they said were extremely disrespectful.

Asher didn't say anything, and Avery, who was beside him, wasn't deaf either; her face looked embarrassed.

As for this matter, she had heard about it and even watched the video. Asher's answer to her was honest, except for the ambiguous plot between him and Stella.

Avery, of course, knew that Miss Turner was Asher’s senior assistant, and when Asher was beaten by so many people, it was Arthur who was unreasonable by seeking revenge. Asher was forced to defend himself.

Furthermore, the reason the Morgan family was able to sign a contract with Fly Pictures was not only because of Asher but even more so because of Stella. Avery believed that Asher did the right thing by helping her.

However, the consequences caused were indeed difficult to handle. Now, with Samuel adding fuel to the fire, when Grandma arrived, she would undoubtedly hold Asher accountable.

Asher silently sat on the chair in the corner by the entrance, knowing that he was in for trouble as soon as he showed up. But this kind of responsibility, Arthur has been through a lot in the past three years. He was immune to criticism and mockery, so they could say whatever they want.

If Arthur's family really causes trouble, he can only ask Ethan to help him secretly.

Cameron had already arrived. Although she doesn't usually pay attention to gossip videos, she had heard about this one before coming. Her face was cold and terrifying as she stared at Asher sitting at the door.

Avery greeted Cameron and then walked over to Asher's table, sitting beside him.

Although she didn't say anything, her actions showed her support for Asher, despite him getting more and more unruly lately.

But after all, he is her husband. Even if her mother doesn't support him, she does.

"What? Do you think you're safe by not saying anything? I'm asking you a question!" Samuel got angry and glared at Asher.

"Is everyone here?" At this moment, Grandma's voice rang out.

Everyone looked up as Grandma was assisted by Beckett and walked up to the stage.

The crowd fell silent and many of the younger generation stood up to greet her, saying, "Grandma."

"Please be seated, everyone. There's no need to be so formal today." Grandma waved her hand, looking very kind.

She glanced at Asher and Avery sitting in the corner, then looked at the people below the stage. "I'm sure everyone has heard the good news. Just two days ago, Avery negotiated with Fly Pictures and officially signed an investment contract. And today, 'Cunning Case 2' officially starts filming."

Grandma paused and continued, "This is the first time in over fifty years that we have made such a huge investment. The future looks promising, and Avery deserves great credit."

"Grandma, this is what I should do." Avery slowly stood up and spoke as the crowd looked at her.

Grandma nodded with a smile on her face. "By inviting everyone here, we are sharing our good news together. And this banquet is also a celebration for Avery's achievement." Grandma smiled and squinted her eyes. "The Morgan family rewards and punishes accordingly. Those who have made great contributions to the family will be celebrated by the entire clan and recorded as exceptional achievements."

"Grandma, maybe we're celebrating a bit too early. Although this is already a done deal, I think it would be better to hold the celebration banquet when we have a bountiful harvest next year." Samuel stood up calmly and glanced at Asher and Avery in the corner, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

"You're right. We can't let our guard down until the last moment. I heard that Avery's Color Company has also partnered with Fly Pictures, which has advanced strength and is backed by the Fly Group. Just in terms of funding, they are already capable of becoming a top family in New York. With this relationship, we must not let any opportunities slip by."

“Let’s be social. No matter what, everyone has good intentions and works hard, never offending Fly Pictures. As for Avery's celebration banquet, let's hold it when we have a good harvest next year." Grandma looked at Avery with increasing fondness.

Sitting in the front, Samuel glanced at Avery and couldn't understand what charm Avery possessed to garner their grandmother’s support like this.

Samuel muttered in his heart, after all, grandma was an executive, and the real decision-maker was the mysterious president of Fly Pictures. Avery must have some unclear relationship with this mysterious president, and maybe even been manipulated into his hands.

As he thought this way, Samuel became more convinced, feeling disdainful as he glanced at Asher, coldly laughing to himself.

This foolish guy didn't even know that his wife betrayed him!

Samuel's guess was correct. Indeed, Avery had a connection with the president of Fly Pictures, but unfortunately, this mysterious president didn't manage to get a hold of Avery.
