Disgusting Scent.
Disgusting Scent.
Nathan drove home furiously, his heart still beating so fast. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he couldn't help but recall how everything had happened.
He had been ready to go home in an hour when his assistant, Caleb, came in with the news that Jesse was back and he was stranded in the airport.
He could remember how his heart had skipped a beat at that moment. He had sat there looking at his assistant in a daze, he didn't know how to react to the news, he didn't know what to do but he knew his blood was boiling so fast.
The man he had cried and longed for was back, the man he had loved with everything he had was back, but things were different now.
Darn it! He still loved Jesse, his heart still longed and beat for him and it was confirmed when he saw him standing alone and helpless at the airport, as he tapped away on his phone.
He still looked as cute and gentle as ever, but the first thing Nathsn had noticed was his frail and sickly body that looked like he could fall with a push. He had raised his legs to walk towards him but had stopped himself when he remembered how this heartless fiancée of his had left him without a word.
He had decided to be heartless and let him stay there till he could get his family to respond but when he saw how Jesse was almost pushed to the floor, he just couldn't take it, his legs had moved before his brain could stop it.
And that was how he found himself driving him home, and sitting next to him almost drove him crazy. The urge to pull him closer to himself, hug him, inhale his scent and kiss him while telling him how much he missed him filled him, but…
Something kept stopping him.
Nathan got home and walked in drained, his suit jacket in his hand, but as he entered his home which had always felt warm since Evans lived with him, he felt strange.
He frowned as he looked at the dark room, puckered his lips and trailed his steps to switch on the light.
“He had always kept the light on whenever I came late, but—” He paused as his eyes gazed at the wall clock. His eyes widened, “Fuck! This late?!”
He pulled out his phone which he had put on silent, and was shocked to see the missed calls from Evans and messages. As he read them, he gritted his teeth in self blame.
“What the heck have I done?!” He scolded himself in annoyance.
He pinched the middle of his brows and looked around the house.
“He must be sleeping, right?” He whispered, but still walked up the stairs.
As he walked past Evans' room, he suddenly paused. He sighed frustratedly, traced his steps back and stopped in front of Evans room.
He raised his hand to knock but paused, he tilted his head in deep thought, then opened the door gently before he crept into the room.
Evans laid curled up on the bed, his legs folded with his arms hugging himself like a fetus still in the womb. Nathan couldn't help but smile gently, then he walked toward the bed, sat next to him and looked at his side profile.
“You look like a baby while sleeping, unlike your sharp self when you fight with me..”He chuckled, but then the smile on his face slowly slipped off.
He raised his hand to touch the face of Evans, but he stopped himself. His fingers curled and rubbed against each other.
He didn't know what he was feeling in his heart, he didn't know why he felt guilty, why he couldn't touch him.
“Is it because Jesse is back, so I feel guilty? Then…”He bit his lips and swallowed in frustration as he looked at the sleeping Evans.
“…What would happen to him?” He whispered to himself.
Nathan’s eyes flashed with frustration, his tongue slid out to wet his lips, then he stood up and flicked his jacket on his shoulder.
“I’m sorry I made you worry. I just turned on my phone now and…” His hand tightened on his jacket, “I was busy with work and couldn't leave.”He whispered with his back to Evans so he didn't see the fingers of Evans twitch.
Without looking back, he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him before resting his back on it.
He had never been as confused as he was at the moment. Something just felt wrong. And the strange part of all this was that he didn't know the cause of his confusion.
He sighed again as the face of Evans flashed in his mind, and then Jesse’s frail figure and pitiful face also appeared.
“Jesse..” He muttered like he was drunk, then stood up straight and staggered back to his room with the thought;
“This started as a mistake..”
Meanwhile, Evans’ eyes snapped open after he felt Nathan had left. He remained lying there until his stomach churned painfully. Without a waste of time, he rushed into his washroom and began to vomit up everything he had eaten.
He vomited it all until nothing was left but he still felt his stomach churn.
He dry heaved for another minute and only felt a little better after pouring water on his head and face. He washed his mouth, then slipped down to the floor weakly.
His lips curled up gently, but his bloodshot eyes revealed the pain he was feeling.
“The smell on your body is so disgusting…”
Suddenly, he stood up again and turned on the shower and allowed the water to pour over himself.
He didn't care about the cold, he didn't care if he was freezing, and all he wanted was to wash away the scent that had rubbed on him which made him uncomfortable.
How could he not be familiar with that scent?
That natural sweet scent that made one intoxicated, the smell of his elder brother, his love rival—Jesse.
The water poured on him, but it couldn't wash away the tears of Evans.
He had cried even though he said he wasn't going to do that. He had failed himself again…
“Nathan…He’ll let me go…”
