Chapter Thirty Two
Chapter Thirty Two
Margaret Mathias.
"Bright? Who the fuck is Bright?" I asked, looking at the man who had said those words, and I realized that it was the father of Alexander. He had stood nonchalantly as he watched me while more tears slipped down my cheeks. "That's the only way, honey; there isn't any other way.
My mother stormed to the scene, her fist tightly clenched and eyes red with rage as she grabbed the long blue rope of the old man and said with a high-pitched tone, "How could you tell my daughter to do such a thing? You know how dangerous and cunning Bright is, and you are telling me, daughter, that she gets the blood."
He smiled mischievously and pushed her hand away from his grip before saying, "I only told her the only solution, but it's left to her to go look for the blood and let his mate die."
The thought of Denise dying made my heart crawl with so much pain; I can't think of a life without him.
"I'll get the blood." What I just said made my mother stop for a moment, turn to look at me briefly before briskly walking towards me, grab my cheeks with both her hands, and say desperately, "Did you know what you were talking about, young woman? You are signing your death warrant."
"Like you care when you have pulled the trigger," I let out, ignoring her, before walking towards the old man and asking, with my gaze still focused on his, "Please tell me where I can find him, because I need to save Denise."
"This is a map where you can find her, not him, and you have three days to do so before Denise dies."
I nodded my head with a smile and went to the room where I stayed for a moment, taking deep breaths to calm my nerves as I thought about the death of Jennifer and how she felt from the rooftop. So we can escape, only to end up back here, making my eyes glisten with unshed tears.
I stood up from the bed and began getting ready, as I couldn't waste another minute. As I walked outside the house, my mother stood behind me, tears evident in her eyes as she pleaded with me one last time, "I know your mate bond is so strong that you are willing to do anything to save him, but please, I'll advise you not to; please stay back, please."
I had a stern look, my fist tightly clenched as I walked forward, and then I said to her, "There's nothing you can do right now to stop me because I have already made up my mind."
The moment I stepped outside, the voice of the old man resonated. I turned as he handed me a bottle full of oil and said, "Take this and pour it on yourself whenever you sense danger, because it won't be an easy journey."
I smiled and appreciated it before I left. While I was walking, I felt someone was walking behind me. I turned to see who it was, and I noticed it was Alexander. "What do you want again?"
"Since I don't like the drastic decision that you are taking, you are still my daughter, and I can't let anything happen to you; for that reason, Abel and Jake would have to go with you."
"And all of these happened because of you, and now you realize you are my father. I don't need your help. I suggest that you leave and don't think of coming back to my life again." I almost barked at my father before walking away, then I saw him let out a command at his two men, who quietly started following me. I didn't protest any further as I allowed them to walk behind me until we reached the forest. I checked the map and made sure we diligently followed every route until we found ourselves in a small cottage house. It was built with wood and tar, making the building weird, and it was the only building there. I then looked down at the map while hoping to be sure. Jake and Abel had already pulled out their weapons and were looking ready. They went and hid behind the room and peered through the window before whispering something to me, which I couldn't hear, so I had to go close enough to hear what they were saying. When I went there, my jaw dropped when I saw a lady who had pale skin sinking her teeth into a man until he turned pale and dry. I let out a gasp, only for the lady to swiftly turn to look at me. She had a dangerous smile on her face as she turned to me before lunging at me through the window. I immediately dodged her assault, and she fell to the ground. She immediately stood up, her knees slightly bent and her neck slightly curved, her mouth dripping with blood like something out of a horror movie before she lunged at me. I subconsciously removed my gun, already ready to pull the trigger, only to hear a loud gunshot coming from behind me. The lady fell to the ground while gasping for air; thick black blood oozed out of her as she strangely wriggled on the bed. I turned back, and I noticed that it was Abel who had pulled the trigger, shooting her to the ground.
Suddenly a woman came out of the building and rushed towards the pale lady, ignoring our presence before wrapping her hand around hers, letting out tears as she cried uncontrollably.
She then stopped crying and turned to look at me as her fists were tightly clenched. "You dared me by shooting my only child," she roared in anger before launching at me, but gratefully Jake managed to shoot her before she reached me, which made her fall to the ground in a pool of her blood while gasping for air. Then I went closer to her to check her pulse to be sure that she was okay. I noticed she was unmoving, which made me let out a huge sigh of relief because from her looks she seemed very dangerous.
I swallowed a lump down my throat while wondering who she was, because the only thing I wanted right now was to get to the blood of the witch and get out of here. I don't literally care if she survives or lives, but I wish to know if she was the witch called Bright so I can save Denise from dying.
I stood up and walked to leave; every step suddenly felt heavy. Every wave of my hand felt like I was carrying a heavy rod. I tried as much as possible to calm my nerves, feeling every wave of guilt course through my nerves. I felt my neck forcefully turned to look at the woman who was once lifeless on the ground, now standing with her mouth wide open as something dark and smoky emitted from her mouth, her hair looking slightly more grey yet longer, and her fingernails elongated to three times the size that they were.
"No one dates crosses the line of Bright and lives long enough to explain the tale. I believe you might have been told about how dangerous I am, yet you decided to come here." She laughed dangerously before walking to me. I wanted to move back so desperately, but it was like my body failed me. My heart almost leaped out of my chest when she exposed her long fangs, taking gentle steps towards me. For the first time, I felt cold shivers run down my every nerve. I turned towards Jake and Abel, but they were lying unconscious on the ground. I called out to them, but not a single sound escaped my lips, and that was when I remembered my mother and the warning she had given me, telling me how dangerous this witch was. I never thought it was an easy fit when we had shot her to death; I never knew it was just the beginning of the whole ordeal.
She was now inches away from me, then I recalled that old man and the oil he had given me, so without thinking twice, I forced my right hand to move before I swiftly brought out the oil and poured it on myself. Bright, whose eyes were closed, hadn't seen what I did, so she wrapped herself around me and sank her fangs, but she couldn't proceed further to take my blood when she felt like her body was burning. She moved back, crying and wailing at the top of her voice before she fell to the ground and used her right hand to hit me so hard on my face that I fell to the ground, my head landed on a heavy rock, and I went blank.
........
"Margaret, is that you?" I heard a voice as I forced my eyes open. I turned towards the voice to see who it was. My mouth hung open when I saw him standing with his full chest, tears slowly forming in my eyes when I noticed the same pitiable state that I was in before he let out with so much pain in his voice, "Margaret, it is really you." She said again. Tears slipped down my cheeks. I made attempts to climb up, only to feel that both my limbs were heavily tied up. I turned to him, feeling desperate as I called out his name.
"Salvador…"
When his name left my lips, I felt my wolf, who had been asleep, was immediately awakened. I closed my eyes, and I was overwhelmed by an unknown strength. I let out a horrendous roar like a lion. Instead of growling like a wolf before I use all my strength, tearing all the ropes tied around me.
Salvador stared at me, almost feeling proud in his eyes. He had a victorious smile in his eyes as he struggled to get out of the ropes, showing from his gaze that he wanted to come desperately to me. He paused before he asked the one question that showed he had always wanted to ask, "Who are you, Margaret?"
