Chapter Twenty Six
Chapter Twenty Six
Salvador Greene.
The water slipped from my hand as it fell into the bed. My gaze frantically searched, only to see the same people I had seen before, all staring at me, like they were expecting my reaction. I subconsciously started moving backwards, then the woman stretched out her hand with a smile, "Please, calm down; no one is going to hurt you."
"Don't touch me..." I raised my voice, which startled the woman. My gaze frantically searched for everyone present there, trying to see if I could find Greg, but he was nowhere to be found.
"W... where's Greg?" I asked with a panic-etched voice. I felt so scared, not knowing how to explain the feeling, so I gently carried myself. Everyone watched, but no one stopped me; they were all fascinated by the way I was rapidly healing.
"Where is Greg?" I asked, my voice sounding commanding. Everyone was silent until the woman who had sat beside me stood up and said, "Follow me."
"And should I do that?" I almost yelled, recalling the traumatic nightmare that I had, which made me feel that sooner or later she might change to Bright.
She took a deep breath and said, "You want to see Greg? Just follow me."
I was hesitant; I desperately wanted to protest, but recalling how Greg was convulsing and reacting to the food he had eaten made me follow her quietly. I still can't believe the fact that I'm unable to accept the harsh reality, because everything has seemed so real.
The woman who had blonde hair and pitch-dark eyes with tinted red lips directed me to another room; on reaching there, I saw that Greg was lifeless, his skin was pale, and his lips were dry.
I rushed to him, tears streaming down my cheeks as I wrapped my hands around him in desperation, "Greg, I'm here; come back to me." I called out in shared fear, but he was silent, skin still pale, pale, then I heard her voice; it was like a silent echo, 'You have proven to be so stubborn; you have dared me, and anyone who dares me doesn't live long enough to explain the tale.' My eyes frantically searched for the person who had made that statement, but I couldn't seem to find her anywhere. I noticed the woman was no longer in sight, which startled me.
Then a young lady came in; she was well dressed in a royal gown, heavily embroidered with precious stones and gold specks. Her dark hair flowed down her back, making her look both beautiful and majestic. She then walked up to me with a smile on her face; I could see her eyes glistening with tears.
He leaned close to me and said, "Thank you for saving my son. I thought he had died. I thought I'd never see him again, but you came through when I had lost all hope." Her voice was so sincere as she let out those words, but I couldn't help recalling the nightmare I had when that woman said a similar thing, so I couldn't really trust her. I remained silent, trying to observe her, and that was when she started explaining everything to me while looking at Greg. "young was my only son, for years that I had married the Alpha of the pack, I was unable to give him an heir, people murmured and many talked behind my back, it slowly made desperation dawned on me, I don't know how to start or how to begin, so the only way was consult a powerful witch called Gaza, she's known for procreation, then she told me that I'll get pregnant, but I'll have to give the child to her, I was scared to do that, but I was desperate, if that's the only way to secure a child of my own, I went back only to realize that I was already four weeks pregnant even before I went to her, so when I gave birth, I didn't give her the child, she was angry saying I didn't fulfill my promise, but I knew she was not the one who had blessed my womb, so she kidnapped my child and took Greg away from me, I have searched the best generals to help search for my son, but they were unable to, not until you brought him back to me, but lifeless, ever since you brought him here, he has been convulsing and spitting out foam from his mouth..." She paused and took a deep breath as she sobbed uncontrollably. Her voice trembled as she continued, "After fifteen long years of being unable to see my son, I came to realize that she already knew I was pregnant when I went to her, so she wanted me to offer her my child, because she knew the royal blood in my womb would be the only thing to sustain her daughter, who had turned into a monster, so her daughter has been feeding on my child's blood for years."
I recalled that lady, and now she had sunk her fangs into my flesh. Everything became clearer; I then realized that Bright was no ordinary woman. Suddenly Greg started convulsing again while his eyes bulged wide; it terrified me. The woman wrapped her hand desperately around Greg as she cried with so much pain in her voice.
"Someone, please help, someone please..." She cried while frantically searching her gaze to see if anyone could be of help, but no one arrived. After some time, someone who was in his late fifties arrived; he had long grey hair and wrinkled skin. He walked towards Greg and told a young boy who walked with him to offer him his box. The young boy did as he was told; he removed a small jar that contained a liquid, and he poured the liquid into his mouth. Greg managed to swallow it after several attempts of trying to make him swallow it, and then he managed to stabilize a little.
The man paused, took a deep breath, and turned to the woman and said, "I'm sorry, Laura, but your son has three days to survive after what that witch has already done to him."
"What has she done to him?" She asked, her voice trembling.
"I'm sorry to break this to you, but the witch had already poisoned his soul, and the only way to bring him back is to cure his soul."
"And where is the soul?" My voice cut in, my hand wrapping against my chest, still recalling that dreadful nightmare that I believe might have put Greg in this situation.
He took a mouthful of air and said, "His soul is with her, and only one person can go there to save him," the old man said with seriousness etched in his voice. He turned to me with a smile and said, "You are the only one who can save his soul. You have saved his body; now only the soul remains, and I'm sorry to inform you that you have only three days to do it."
