Chapter Twenty Five
Chapter Twenty Five
Salvador Greene.
"Wow, such bravery. If I were in his situation, I don't think I'd have survived. His survival instincts are very high." I could hear sounds of murmuring, like there were many present individuals who were there, my heart pounding, and many thoughts running through my mind. I was trying to calm my nerves as I gently lifted my hand, which made everyone shout almost at the same time, "He's awake; he's finally awake." I opened my eyes gently to see what was happening, but my eyelids felt so heavy that I was unable to despite my attempt to do so. My heart was pounding so fast when I saw that many people had already surrounded me. They were staring at me curiously with a smile on their faces, but none of them dared approach me. I was baffled by where I was, so I briefly scanned my environment, and I realized that I was in a totally different environment. It was a small room made of bricks; there was evident furniture, and over there were people present, including a woman who seemed well dressed. She looked very classy. I can't explain the feeling, but it was almost like I had seen her before.
The woman was quietly staring at me, then suddenly she stood up and walked to me, who was still weak on the bed. Many people gave way to her as she walked up to me. She had a broad smile on her face as she came to sit close to me on the bed. I stared at her while wondering what she wanted from me, but what came out of her lips surprised me.
"Thank you..."
I raised an eyebrow, wondering what I had done to deserve a sincere word of gratitude from an unknown stranger. Everyone present in the room was staring with so much emotion in their eyes, and then she turned to all of them, requesting them to leave because she wanted a private conversation with me. I felt slightly scared, wondering if it was Bright who might have disguised herself as another woman, and it was her. I don't have the strength to fight, so I stared at the guard who was standing by the door with a pleading gaze while hoping that he wouldn't leave.
The guard understood something wasn't right, so he decided to stay back, but the HBD woman raised her voice at the guard when everyone had left except him: "I said leave..."
"But I just need to..."
"Don't make me repeat myself again; you'd better leave."
The guard took a deep breath, bowed, and left. I was now alone with the woman, my body already trembling while hoping that it was not who I was thinking. The woman gently wrapped her hand around mine as she stared me in the eyes. My body was still weak, so I was unable to do anything while I watched her intently.
"I want to really appreciate you for your kind gesture."
"What did I do?"
She curved her lips into a smile, then turned towards the door as she invited someone who had been standing by the door. My heart raced so fast while thinking who it might be. After a few seconds, the person showed his face under the lurking shadows, and that was when I saw Greg. He was dressed in a blue shirt and dark jeans, and his hair was well-trimmed, making him look more handsome. Even though there were visible scars on his face, I felt inwardly elated, knowing that he was still alive.
"Greg..." I called out gently, my eyes glistening with tears, not knowing how to explain the intense feeling of joy that I was feeling at the moment.
"Yes... You saved him. You saved my son after fifteen long years of searching for him, thinking I might never see him again, but you brought my only son back to me." The woman said as a set of tears slowly found its way down her cheeks.
"Your son? I thought Greg was the son of Bright."
"No... he's not, and that woman must pay..." She said with gritted teeth, his fist clenching tightly. She took a deep breath as she turned to me and said, "I don't want to overwhelm you with too much information; for that reason, I'll give you something to rest while I prepare you some food." She muttered gently with a smile as she stood up from the bed and left the room. I was now left alone with Greg.
He walked up to me, his eyes filled with emotion, and he sat beside me on the bed. Without a word uttered, he wrapped his hands around me. I felt pain in both my arms, and I let out a soft groan, which made him realize what he had just done as he hastily let go of me. "Oh, I'm sorry. I think I had pressed so hard."
"I still can't believe you did it; you managed to rescue both of us. I'll be forever grateful. I knew there was an unhidden strength within you, and that's why I allowed you to come with me back to the house."
My brows furrowed; many questions needed answers, so I asked, "Since you were already in the forest, why couldn't you escape?"
He smiled. "Because I'm already caged in a bottle. Bright is known to be a strong witch; no one has ever been able to escape her grip. She causes illusions whenever you try to escape, and the only way is for you to go back to the house. Anyone who tries looking for you is also made to see things that don't really exist, which end up making them lose their way."
When she explained everything to me, I understood how dangerous she can be. "So how did I manage to escape without seeing illusions?"
"It's something I can't explain as well, and that's why I said you are special."
We discussed for a while until a knock interrupted us. I averted my gaze towards the door to see who it was. I then noticed the woman whom I had seen earlier; she had a plate of food still firmly held in her hand. She placed the food on the table and urged us to eat. The aroma was so enticing that I couldn't control my intense craving for the food. I managed to sit on the bed as I carried the food, fetched a spoonful, and aimed it at my mouth. I was about to shove it into my mouth only to hear the voice of my wolf: 'Don't eat it.' The voice was so loud within me that I ended up throwing the food at the ground due to the fear lurking within me.
"I'm so..." Before I could complete my sentence, I felt a tight slap from the woman. "How dare you pour away my food? How could you..." She cut in, raising her voice so loudly it brought cold shivers down my spine.
I turned to look at Greg, who had already eaten his food, and he was convulsing on the ground while foaming from his mouth. The woman suddenly changed into Bright; long fangs were evident, and she stretched out her long nails, ready to claw at me.
"Noooo..." I screamed at the top of my voice.
"Why are you so difficult?" she cried.
"You need to calm down; everyone is here. Please be calm." A feminine voice woke me up. I was sweating, my heart panting as I frantically searched the room. I let out a sigh of relief knowing it was just a dream.
"Please take some water." The voice said again, "I took the water from her," ready to take it only to see that the same woman was the one handing over the water.
