56: I am 'the' abomination

Seth Stepped into the room with ambition written all over his face but took a halt on the sight of my blood that was splashed on the floor.

His eager eyes went from me to the knocked out Elena, she seem lifeless at the moment.

"What happened here, don't tell me you bit her again" his voice came out unexpectedly warm as he chuckled softly.

His gaze roam till he saw my bleeding body. I could have swore I saw him flashed a toothy grin before trying to look pitiful. This asshole was my best friend for a reason.

Seth's grim expression softened slightly as he helped me lift Elena. "She's not the fragile thing who thought werewolves were fairy tales anymore," he said, his voice low. I returned to my spot in the room, the scent of blood heavy in the air. The adrenaline was fading, leaving a bone-deep weariness.

"She really wanted to kill me Seth" I said softly with great terror, watching my wound heal quickly.

Unlike before, I could feel her hate and rage. The mate bond, fu*k it!

Seth's uncomfortably stare at me made me felt unheard or misunderstood, he sat on the bed close to Elena.

"I saw it in the darkness of her eyes....it was that darkest I have ever seen" my voice sounded really scared, being sure of every word I said.

His silence added to my worries, perceiving that he's not on my side....I wasn't right anyway.

"It wasn't smart of me to claim her now that there isn't any sign of her becoming one of us" I mentioned pitifully as my shoulder dropped slowly.

"I won't have us talk about you claiming her for now" Seth said firmly, trying to make me change the topic as it seems like he wasn't comfortable talking about it or hearing it.

"I need to get her powers totally subdued and have her lying like that" my words came out smoothly, sounding alittle harsh to my hearing like I never really care about her.

I looked away from my healing wound to Seth's distracted face, and mine tightened alittle bit while I watched him staring blankly at the dark screen of his phone.

Seth got to notice my sudden silence and he turned to see my plain face and pair if questioning eyes gazing directly at him.

He doesn't look surprised to see me staring at him, he understood my gaze and opened up immediately.

"We have found a witch to do a local spell, she asked to be paid and would be arriving first thing tomorrow morning if not, later this week" he announced clearly.

His words gave my mind an instant relief to my emotional trauma as I nodded affirmatively in response to what he had said.

"Hgggrhh!" Elena growled back to reality, she seems to have woken up with a start as she swiftly turned her gaze towards my direction on the sofa and my heart stopped working in abruptness.

I hurried towards her and quickly tied her up with a closeby cord that I had brought in yesterday, my hands shaky as I did so.

Something about her worried me.

"Oh goodness, she won't be able to hurt you without her powers" Seth's teasing voice reminded me but I still prefer prevention to cure.

I ignored his remark and went to the sofa to continue filing my nails but stopped at the sight of my blood on the dagger.

My eyes noticed Seth's gaze following my every move and I suddenly feel pity for both him and myself for no particular reason.

"I'm afraid I might be the one to harm this time around" I confessed looking away from Elena's piercing stare.

Seth has always got my back and it began to feel right for me to tell him what he has to know that would help in his hard work.

'I'm sorry Rowena,Seth...' I thought in silence, avoiding his permanent gaze on me.

I could feel he wants me to spill what was deep in my heart that has made me that moody even if I tried possibly to hide it from him.

"I learnt that there is a traveler running free somewhere in the pack, and together we must get hold of her" I uttered closing my fist like she would be squashed when we find her.

Seth's eyes widened and his eyebrows raising gradually, having a faint smirk on his face to indicate victory ahead.

My stomach felt sour as soon as those words left my mouth, I wasn't ready to turn my back at Rowena either but it just happened easier than I thought it would be.

There was silent between us as I listened attentively to the increase of my heartbeat, the temperature of the room suddenly changed and I felt like I was being compelled to say more.

"She's small, slender, curly red hair, freckles... you'll need Elaeis guineensis to find her," my voice cracked, but Seth remained unsuspicious.

I love Rowena. I did this for her. My parents, my twin brother... I let her stay in Elena, my mate, and this is what she did to me. I wasn't sure if it was love or obsession.

Seth was more concerned about solving the problem in the pack than suspect anything from me, he gave me a small smile and left for Rowena.

My heart sank to my stomach immediately the door closed behind him, I just gave out an information that had stayed hidden for a very long time ago.

Rowena would never forgive me if she gets to know that I sent out her information, well it wasn't my fault she went into hiding since I claimed Elena.

"I have failed again" I thought restlessly, swiping the little sweat that had appeared in my forehead with the back of my unsteady palm.

My worried eyes searched through out the room for a clue to help me solve the increasing problems when Elena's dry smirk bought a tingling sensation in my head.

"Rowena sure knows how to press your buttons" she bluffed, sounding offensive as she rolled her eyes as soon as mine came in contact with hers.

She knew? My breath hitched.

" I'm aware of how she has been a cute passenger inside my head" I gasp at this and stood up immediately, staring at the nonchalant expression on her face.

Deep down, i wanted to believe there was someone in Elena's head making her this crazy but—it was all her.

"I know all your conversations with her, how pathetic you are!" she crowed, her voice sharp.

I couldn't bear it any longer. I stood, staring at her, from head to toe, wondering how she'd managed to pretend she didn't know about Rowena. Was she clever, afraid, or planning something? She'd changed.

"So... the dream walker thing is true," I whispered, unsure if it was a question or a statement.

She shrugged, a sheepish smile playing on her lips as she leaned back against the wall.

"I'm an abomination," she joked, winking. My head throbbed. Cruelty, I thought. Why would the Moon Goddess be so cruel as to give me a dream walker for a mate? And to share her with my twin?
