Chapter 57: Welcome

I woke up with a start and jerked out of bed but got back on it immediately, my hands and legs hurt.

I looked at my ankles and wrist to find them bruised from tight grip of the cod around it for long.

"Hrrr!" I growled, trying anything possible to break free from it painful grip.

My impatient eyes searched round the room for anything that could help me out with my tied hands and legs but saw nothing.

I struggled some more, shouting and cussing but nothing happened so I decided to relax for the main time  and think of another possible way.

There was a sharp pain on my neck as I rested my back against the wall to relax and think.

The silence in the room was getting louder than the words in my head, thoughts of almost everyone in the pack ran into my mind at once.

My back and neck ached as I stretched my tied body uncomfortably and yawned, I was getting sleepy, wasn't sure of how long I've been sitting in silence.

'Once I get out of this.... Derek...how would I get lose first' I thought, silently offended, watching my legs and hand with full focus.

The door opened and Derek with a grin on his face as he walked in with a maid right behind him, she walked behind his every step without looking up.

"Get me freed Derek!" I ordered, my voice sounded like a little mean boss, gesturing towards my bruised ankles and my wrist with my chin.

His face plain, he stopped to stare blankly at me in silence and then signaled the girl behind him with his index finger.

She walked away immediately after a slight bow, she seems not be able to speak until she was asked to.

"I kept you on a comfortable bed, you're welcome" he said smiling sheepishly, trying to make a good impression.

On hearing this, face darkened and the line on my jaw tightened slowly as I glared at him coldly without moving an inch.

Derek walked gently towards me and sat by the edge of the bed where I laid, studying my face with a grimy face.

In no time the girl returned with a large tray of food, the aroma coming out of the covered plates on the tray almost made me smile with relief but I remained cold and silent.

Derek watched my troubled face as I blinked and looked away from him and the maid who was holding the tray of food, I perceived that it would be a tasty meal.

I frowned at the battle going on in my empty stomach, refusing to accept that I was eventually starving.

He took the tray of food and placed it on the bed between both of us, uncovering it, it was rice; grilled chicken and veggies beside it.

'You must definitely think you are amazing for knowing alittle about me' I snapped thoughtfully, watching his smile that seems annoying to me, That was exactly my favorite, Derek knows that.

He took a piece of the chicken to feed me which I opened up to receive and spat it on his face and smiled.

His gaze went cold and he was silent, it could only mean that he was anxious,I noticed his left hand tightening and he suddenly flashed a bright smile at me.

"For how long did you know about Rowena?" He asked calmly, his voice reflecting his frustration which he succeeded in covering under his bright smile.

I went completely mute and watched the sight of his panicking face, it became notable that my silence was increasing his worries, which I enjoyed doing.

"Were you able to see inside her head when she was in you,...was she in a relationship with Alice?" He asked hopefully that I would answer at least one of it sounding impatient and then slightly offended at my silence.

Derek did a good job of staying calm with me despite the frustrating cold stares I fixed on him, his face was an indubitable disappointment.

He shrugged uncomfortably and took a deep breath, perceiving that it would be of no use to ask more questions.

I signed and his eager eyes became fixed to watch my mouth, to when it opens and closes like his life depends on what I was going to say.

"I don't really know, but I guess the bitch is that important to Rowena too...she didn't trust me enough to tell me that Alice was her back up place" I said, looking away from him and then back to him without spending a second.

"That they were always together " I snapped on noticing his great interest in what I was saying.

He gasped silently, his eyes widened alittle and he looked like a lump and appeared in his throat which he swallowed slowly, rather hardly.

There was a tingling sensation in my belly and the corner of my mouth bounced slightly, I almost burst out in laughter but bit my lips to subdue it.

'I'm not that evil though' I thought.

I felt impressive with my skills of making him feel the worst of himself, nothing mattered to me than those silently griefing eyes of his.

"Together, like how?" he asked impatiently, uncleared of what he must have been thinking, looking and sounding down casted.

"Together-together, you should know right?" I uttered, returning the question to him as he watched me in awe, not sure of what to say anymore.

The door opened, cutting our conversation short, Seth walked in majestically with a tired looking girl behind him.

"Haven't you heard of what is called knocking?!" Derek fired at Seth who paused and stared quietly at him, he rolled his eyes and widened his nose as he took a deep breath on seeing that Seth wasn't going to give an answer.

"Always knock before entering" he added, it seems more like Derek was using the opportunity to vent his anger on Seth.

"This is Vee" Seth started, point his right thumb to the girl's direction as she took a slight bow on meeting with Derek's frustrated gaze.

"What's it with her?" Derek's voice came out more masculine and alittle hoarsely this time, staring at the girl.

"She is the witch that was supposed to come in two days time but got attacked" he said with a shrugging gesture, not really sure of what had happened to the girl present in the room with us.

"Can you explain to us, who did this callous thing to you?" Derek asked calmly this time, his voice came eager to know about her plight.

"He is an average young man, up to six feet tall with a shoulder length hair, he has a mean look and a scar on the left part of his face close to his eyes" she explained in a shaky voice.

"He told me that psycheia sent her regards, I was saved by my girlfriend" she added meaningfully as her gaze got locked with mine.

"What does it mean by psycheia?" Derek asked, directing his question at Seth who bent his lips downwards and looked away immediately.

It was clear, Seth and Derek don't have any idea of what or who a psycheia is, I sat quietly watching the mystery unfold.

Vee looked at Derek and then at me for a longer time in silence, like she was trying to process her thoughts with my face.

I've never met with her before but I felt a sudden feeling of connection towards her, like we have known each other for ages.

"Psycheia is the mother of whosoever practices magic and anyone who is a witch" she explained boldly, taking her gaze off and on me.

Derek got to notice her constant gaze on me, his eyes narrowed at her and his face looked cold and questioning.

Seth stared at her in silence, not sure of how he could handle the situation at hand as he watched her mouth closely.

The skin between my eyebrows rumpled and my gaze darkened, hoping she won't spill out some more as I stared at her with a knowing eyes.

"Psycheia is said to be misunderstood" she mentioned, her auto voice sounding unclear as Derek turned to Seth for further explanation since he wasn't understanding Vee.

Seth made a doe eyes and Derek looked away, disappointed in him.

"What did the crazy princess commit?" She asked scoffully, leaving her piercing stare at me.

"Would you be quiet?" Seth thundered at her, making his face a mean hard one.

Vee raised her shoulders up slowly in a nonchalant manner, still looking at me without minding Seth's mean voice.

Seth growled to stop her from doing more than she would be able to resolve, her character settled immediately, restoring silence in the room.

Derek's eyebrows came down alittle and his gaze cold, his face became hard as he stared at Vee with a murderer eyes.

Vee bowed slightly in compliance and Seth took a deep breath, exchanging look with Derek who seems astonished.

My gaze failed to leave Vee as it caught her staring daggers at me from her slightly bent head.

I wasn't sure of what I felt at the moment but sure it wasn't close to surprise or anger but my heart suddenly hated her.

'Welcome' I thought, staring blankly at her, like her words didn't get to me at all.

There was unspoken tension and a maintained silence in the room and everyone refused to look my way after what Vee had did.
