Chapter 463 Transaction

Chapter 463 Transaction

"What do you have? Wild boar meat, and bear meat, do you have any?" I stayed silent, but Clio jumped in.

"We've got bear meat," Clio replied. The tall woman and her crew seemed a bit shocked.

From the sidelines, I could tell they were short on these supplies.

"Anything else? Got something better?" I was surprised that wild boar and bear meat didn't impress them much.

They were after higher-quality goods.

"We'll trade you ten pounds of each meat for forty pounds of sugar cane," the tall woman stated, eyeing me with arrogance.

She was flaunting their abundance of sugar cane.

"Twenty pounds of meat for forty pounds of sugar?" The other women gasped in surprise.

Clio wasted no time, instructing the girls next to her to fetch the meat from the cave.

She was worried they might miss out on the sugar cane.

"Got anything better? These ladies are quite bold," I remarked.

They weren't afraid of a bad deal; they just wanted superior goods.

Seeing my hesitation, the tall woman smirked even more.

"But that's all we have. We're just a tad better than those folks on the beach," she chuckled arrogantly, eyeing Angus and his crew who had just arrived.

"Hey, men, got any good stuff to trade? Show us what you've got," she challenged.

Angus and his crew looked uncomfortable as the tall woman's imposing demeanor put them on edge.

Barry and the skinny man even took a step back, feeling intimidated.

"Useless bunch of men," the tall woman taunted, finding amusement in the situation.

Meanwhile, the two girls in the cave had already swapped the meat for the sugar cane.

They happily carried the basket back to the cave.

"My husband has a stash of sanitary pads," I blurted out, surprising myself.

The tall woman's arrogance prompted Clio to speak up, causing laughter among the onlookers.

But the mirth quickly faded, and the atmosphere grew serious.

Under normal circumstances, a man having sanitary pads in bulk would be a joke.

But here, on these islands, such items were valuable commodities. With many women around, these goods were highly sought after.

This realization left everyone, including the tall woman, looking at me in disbelief.

"Do you really have those goods?" the tall woman asked, sounding skeptical.

"What, you doubt it?" Clio shot back loudly.

I felt a twinge of annoyance.

Usually, when boasting was needed, Janna was the expert. But now, Clio had taken the spotlight.

After those words were out, I felt trapped. My reputation was on the line.

I couldn't just admit I didn't have them now; it would be like admitting defeat.

"Alright, take some and trade with us, as much as you want," the tall woman offered cheerfully.

"With that little sugar cane, how much can you trade? If you're serious about it, bring a lot more sugar cane," Clio challenged loudly.

This took the tall woman and her crew by surprise.

I quickly pulled Clio aside, shooting her a warning glance.

I hoped she wouldn't escalate things further.

"Who made them so full of themselves?" Clio, channeling Janna's style, complained to me.

After stirring up trouble, she still expected me to comfort her. Janna was a bad influence.

"It's all Janna's fault," I sighed inwardly. Clio had picked up most of her behavior from Janna.

"We can make some portable sanitary pads. They're reusable and quite effective," I explained to the tall woman, curious about her reaction.

"I see," the tall woman nodded.

"If they work, we'll trade with you. But we don't have physical goods to offer, so we can't gather a ton of sugar cane for you," the tall woman's tone softened.

The two girls next to me listened closely.

They pulled out the sewn portable sanitary pads from their pockets.

"This is it," I said, squeezing one to show its softness.

I handed the pads to the tall woman.

She examined it, and the other women around watched closely.

"Michael thinks of everything," a woman whispered.

"He even considers our women's needs."

"His woman must be happy."

Seeing the pads, the women assumed I had come up with the idea.

While I provided the concept, most of the credit belonged to my women.

Being discussed by so many women, especially on this topic, left me feeling embarrassed and at a loss for words.

The tall woman then conducted an experiment with a cup of seawater.

"Sorry, we need to test it first. We can't commit to so many supplies without being sure," she explained with a slight smile.

She poured a bit of seawater onto the pad.

I was nervous, having tested a similar pad last night without the outer fabric and using plant juice, not seawater.

"It should work, right?" I hoped.

Onlookers, especially Angus and his group, watched intently.

"Angus, if Michael can make these, we can too. Look at these women, they need these. They're willing to trade a lot of sugar cane," the skinny man whispered.

"These pads seem simple to make. The materials inside are just first aid cotton from the medical kit," he added.

Angus nodded in agreement.
