Chapter 143

Chapter 143
George's POV

Getting a call personally from Autumn wasn't something I was expecting. I've always wanted her to contact me, but I thought it would be impossible. When I thought of contacting her, I only stopped because I didn't want her to think I was bothering her or something else.

Now that she called me, I couldn't contain the joy in my heart. Even if she wasn't calling to ask about me, it still felt so good. It won't be long before I'm able to get her away from those bastards that don't deserve her.

"Autumn, what can I do for you? You can tell me," I replied to her.

I could hear her breathing on the phone, and it felt like she was trying to hold herself from saying it. What exactly happened to her again? Did those bastards do something to hurt her?

"What's wrong? You can tell me what you want to say. Did they do something to you again? Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.

"Yes, I'm okay. I wanted to ask if it's okay to invite more people to your pack's moon festival," she asked me.

"Why are you even asking me that when you have the permission to do what you want? Of course you can bring more people—"

"I'm not sure these people are the kind that you want to see, which is why I asked. Are you sure it's okay?"

When she said that, I realized she was talking about those alphas. Why are they always using every opportunity to mess with me? What do they want now, coming to my pack festival? I used to invite them in the past, but ever since I got reborn I didn't want to invite them to anything again because I felt like they didn't deserve it.

I sighed. "Although I hate them for what they did to you, they are still important pack leaders after all, so of course they are invited. But it's for your sake."

I could hear a hint of happiness and relief in her voice. Why is she defending them and bringing them to my own festival? Is there something else that I don't know about?

"Thank you for your confirmation. I promise you I will keep them from bringing you trouble," she assured me.

"But can I ask why you're doing this for them? Is there something you want to tell me?"

She hesitated for a moment. I even thought she had hung up but she was still there, probably contemplating if she had to tell me this or not. I guessed there was a secret that I didn't know.

"It's a very long story, and it will be better if I tell you in person. Let's use our meeting this weekend to discuss it," she finally replied.

I almost forgot that I invited her this weekend, and the moment she mentioned seeing me I felt so happy. I could finally have some time alone with her and get to know her better.

My lips curved in a smile. "Sure. I'm going to pick you up this weekend. I'll see you then."

"Yes, thank you," she said and hung up.

I looked at Gina, smiling at me like an idiot. I totally forgot that she was still here. She's going to be discharged soon, and I'm very sure Autumn might come to see her, which is the reason I didn't go home because I was waiting.

"Do you have something to say? Stop smiling like an idiot. If you have anything to say, say it," I scolded her.

She scoffed. "Why do you look so offended by my smile? I haven't said anything yet and you're already getting guilty. Is it because you have so much scheming in your heart?"

She was right, and I didn't want to admit it. I had a lot of scheming in my heart because I wanted to get Autumn away from those men. But I still had some important things to think about.

I'm not saying she's not important, but if I'm going to bring her to my pack it needs to be a safe place, and right now it's not. I already used my memory of the past life to fish out all the people that are traitors and those who want to infiltrate my pack. I've seen through the plan and the one to use the moon festival as an opportunity.

"What are you planning to do with the people that betrayed you?" she asked me.

I sighed. "I'm not going to keep any of them alive. Else they would disrupt my plans. I'm not taking any risks right now."

"I can't believe you were actually reborn all along and you didn't tell me a thing. Was it so fun to watch me make a fool of myself? You owe me so much in our previous life."

I felt guilty listening to her. I think I've hidden this from her for a long time. Now it's time for me to face it. I finally told her the truth after mistakenly mentioning that I remembered how our pack was taken away by strange people and I ended up dying.

"I already told you that I'm sorry about this. A lot happened before and we were both victims who were fooled by Agatha. Who would have thought that she was scheming everything all along?"

She sneered, "I think you're much worse than I am. You deserve to be in the same category as those alphas. You don't even believe your own sister who grew up with you, but you decide to believe someone who is a stranger."

I could tell she was upset. I could feel the pain in her voice, and I didn't know how to make her feel better. Even though I've done everything to protect her in this life, it doesn't mean that I did not fail her in the past. No matter how much of a tyrant she was before, she is still my sister and I should have protected her.

I moved closer to her, taking her hands in mine while she tried to look away. I could see that she was holding back her tears.

"Gina, after our parents you're the most important person to me, and I messed up in the past. I shouldn't have done that to you. I should have believed you. I will use the rest of this life to make up everything, so just forgive me, okay?" I begged her.

My sister is always dramatic and I can only coax her like this. She hesitated for a moment, but she finally gave me an answer.

"Since we were both wrong in our past lives, we should make up for it in this one. Autumn forgave me for all the wrong things that I did to her. I don't think I have any right to be mad at you. After all, you always stopped me from being spoiled. I think my arrogance led to all that happened to me."

I pulled her into a hug. I was so happy when I saw her safe and sound in this life. She's slowly getting away from the trauma of the past life and that's good enough for me. I can't imagine how Gina would have to live her life if Autumn never forgave her. That's why she's an incredible person.

"Since we already agreed on this, let's discuss this problem we have," I told her. "I think we're not the only ones who were targeted. Autumn is in great danger and we have to use this opportunity to kill all our enemies to save her life."

She nodded. "You can count me in. I think I've been too idle for a long time, so people already forgot the kind of person we were. We need to remind the whole world that we are not to be messed with."

I smiled. "That's the spirit! We should do whatever we can to eradicate the problem in the werewolf community. Everyone will be happy to help."

I know I shouldn't have used the moon festival, which is important to every member of the Frozen Pack, to lure out my enemies. I wouldn't have resorted to this underhanded method if the situation wasn't dire. Those people are already spreading everywhere. It's only a matter of time before everyone gets attacked.

I'm sacrificing our happiness to set a trap for them. One thing those people don't know is that there's strength in numbers. My pack would never let anyone ruin that unity between us.
