Chapter 134
Chapter 134
Adonis's POV
I just woke up not too long ago, and I wanted to check on Autumn. I didn't see her in the room, so I guessed she must be around the house. However, I heard some noises. Well, I was getting closer to somewhere around Dante's room, which was why I started getting suspicious. I used my senses to listen well, and the nicest way more food. I didn't want to alert them as I slowly went towards the room.
"Is there anyone in there, Dante? Are you in there?" I asked, putting my ear close to the door.
The atmosphere felt strange. I was very sure something else was going on and I needed to be careful. I thought he wasn't going to reply to me until I heard the door open and I found him staring at me. Autumn was right behind him, and to me it looked like she was hiding and checking for something.
"What's going on with you? Why didn't you say anything earlier?" I asked Dante.
He shook his head. "Something happened that you won't believe, but come in. First, our mansion is no longer safe to speak casually."
"What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying there's spies in this mansion and we can't speak as much as we like anymore?" I questioned angrily.
They both looked at me, nodding their heads, which made me realize that they were actually telling the truth. I didn't notice it before, but I found someone side-up, laying down on the floor. The person was dressed in a guard's uniform.
"Who's this?" I asked again.
"This idiot actually came to kill me, and he threw some hypnotic powder on me. If it wasn't for Autumn, who came to save me, I don't know what would have happened to me today," he explained to me.
She actually saved him? I thought. She hated us so much that she would find any opportunity to kill us. Hearing that she saved my brother right now made me feel somehow joyful. I don't know if I should thank her or not. She might say she didn't do it for me or my brother.
"If you're about to thank me for what I did, you don't have to. I already paid him for saving my life, so we are even," she said before I could even open my mouth to say anything.
I knew she was going to be like this, but it doesn't matter. Anyway, staying with us like this, men—she was finally opening up to us. It's quite some improvement, and I could see that her actions were rather calm than before.
"I still have to thank you for saving his life, even if you don't want to," I said to her. "It's a big deal to know that you actually care about us."
"Who cares about you? I told you I only did this because I came to see him, and I was there at that time. I couldn't ignore something like that. Besides, what if I get blamed for killing him later?" she fired at me.
I decided to drop it so she wouldn't continue getting mad. "We can take it slow. Anyway, it's not going to be long before she finally agrees to be ours again. Once she opens her heart up to us, we're going to make sure she doesn't regret what she did again."
"What are we going to do about this guy?" I asked them again.
"We already agreed that we would take him somewhere safe where we can ask him questions. As you can see, he was out because he was talking too much and refused to give us any information," Dante explained, hinting to me that it was Autumn who did this to him.
I guess she has a long temper these days. You didn't even wait for the interrogation to be done, and she had to take care of the bastard herself.
"You don't have to worry about him anymore. I'm going to take care of this," I told her.
"I think you should talk to Knox too. He should be very careful, because you all have no idea what's going on around here," she warned me.
Actually, I didn't need to be told much before I understood what was going on. My brothers and I already experienced this before; our pack was infiltrated and we almost forgot all about that. But it's good enough that we remember now. It's also good that there could be many of them; this way I can wipe out all the people that chose to betray me in the previous life and in this one.
"I'll take care of this. Why don't you just focus on other things? I'm not worry about it," I replied. She looked at me wetly, like she wanted to ask me something.
"What exactly are you hiding from me? Why do you want me to stay away from this?"
Dante immediately took her side. "Yes, why are you asking her to stay away from something that she could clearly help us with?"
"Wait, you're helping me out against your brother?" She got surprised at Dante's action.
He nodded in agreement. "I already told you you're qualified to be our Luna. You made all these plans and stopped me from alerting the enemy. Who else would be helpful for our plans than you?"
I didn't understand what the time we are talking about. What it seems like is Dante already made much progress, and I didn't want to ruin it by asking her to stay away from this. If she could help us out, then there's no reason to make her stop. Promising to become our Luna is very important to us, so I don't mind accepting this.
"Then you're welcome to join us in investigating," I finally accepted.
She didn't look annoyed but relieved. She really wanted to join us in the investigation about what is going on in the pack, maybe because this has something to do with her greatest enemy, Agatha. To think that what I have in mind might have something to do with Agatha means a lot.
What is wrong with that girl? We raised her with so much love, and we even made Autumn suffer for her. How could she go up so twisted? Or maybe she was already twisted, seeing everything that she has always done to Autumn, and we chose to believe her.
"Since I'm going to join you in this investigation, I think we should talk about what happened or what you know. This should go back to the previous life. Why don't you tell me what exactly happened?"
She looked at the both of us as we hesitated to say anything. Just as I wanted to say something, Knox came rushing into the room.
"You won't believe what happened to me today. One of our members actually tried to stab me. I narrowly escaped as I was thrown hypnotic powder, but I killed the bastard anyway."
He wanted to say more, but he found Autumn was in the room and his eyes also followed the one on the floor. He realized that he was not the only one who went through what he thought.
"What the hell is going on here? Did you also get attacked?"
"You should have let him live so that you can get information from him. Do you guys just kill people just because they tried to hurt you? At least give him a chance to give you information. What if there will be more tomorrow?" Autumn scolded him.
"But I was so angry and desperate. If I didn't kill him, he would have done the same thing to me. What I did was defend myself."
She sighed. "There's more to this than we can understand. Even though I don't have any reason to help you solve anything, I still feel like it's so annoying to see people take what they didn't work for. So I'm doing this for righteousness, not for you."
I smiled at her words. She wouldn't casually acknowledge the fact that she was helping us, and it's okay. We can wait.
"Thank you for your help then. We appreciate everything you're doing."
"If you appreciate what I'm doing, then you should tell me about what I asked. Or do you think I'm too unworthy of hearing about it?"
