Chapter 135
Chapter 135
Autumn's POV
I finally got the opportunity to ask them what happened in the past life and why they ended up getting reborn like me, but look at them, they don't want to say anything to me. What's so special about what happened to them? They could have gotten beaten or killed like this.
This is a matter of life or death. Why am I even thinking of helping them? They're my enemies and people who hurt me before. I shouldn't be so righteous about helping them, but when I think about the innocent people in the pack who might suffer because of their actions, I couldn't do anything else than help them with this crisis.
Once this crisis is done, maybe I can use this to buy my freedom and move away from them. However, can I really leave? Why do I feel like I'm so reluctant to leave them?
"If you appreciate what I'm doing, then you should tell me about what I asked. Or do you think I'm too unworthy of hearing about it?"
After saying this, I still didn't hear anything, so I decided to leave them alone. Maybe they needed time to talk about it within themselves. After all, I was still an outsider to them. Or maybe they were just too embarrassed to tell me what they went through after making me die miserably like that.
"Since you have nothing to say, I'm going to take my leave. You all can have your meeting as much as you want," I said, walking towards the door.
But in reality I didn't want to leave yet because I wanted to know everything that happened in full detail.
"Wait! Don't leave, Autumn. We'll tell you everything that happened." Knox stopped me from leaving.
I turned around, looking at him, feigning anger. "You didn't want to tell me before and now you feel like telling me because I want to leave. You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. It's not coming sincerely from your heart."
He shook his head. "I promise you it's coming from my heart, and I want to tell you the truth. Even if they don't want to tell you, they're just embarrassed to let you know that they were fooled too."
"Fooled? By who? Tell me everything," I demanded, taking a seat.
The remaining two looked at their brother for a moment and they didn't say anything. He took a seat beside me, ready to tell me the truth, while the rest of them just watched.
"This happened not long after you were banished from the pack. We didn't know you died until someone told us anonymously. Looking back at it now, I think that person was—"
"Who was it?" I asked as he stopped.
He didn't want to tell me who that person was. What the hell is going on with him? I asked him something else, and now he's telling me someone told them about my death. If this person told them about my death, then this person should have known fell off the cliff.
Wait, Agatha clearly told me that they ordered her to kill me, but now they said they didn't do it. If they didn't do it, how did they find out the truth? And why is he refusing to tell me who it was? Is it someone that I know? Do they want me to show my gratitude to the person or what?
"It's no one important. You're talking about something else and you're already mentioning things that are not relevant to the situation," Adonis scolded him.
"What the hell do you mean by my death is not important and it's irrelevant?" I snapped angrily at him.
I think he regretted what he said. "That's not what I mean, I promise you. It's just that I think it's morning and we have a lot of things to do, so he should tell you the story fast. Or let me just do it."
I scoffed. "I asked you to tell me before he came here and you both refuse to tell me anything. Now you want to do it too late. I want him to tell me the whole thing because he looks like the only person that will tell me the truth."
Knox continued the story. "What happened to us was rather unfortunate. We were invaded overnight and were ambushed after we became so weak. Someone else took over our pack, showing our pack strategies, documents, and everything else that belong to our pack."
"We tried to fight with everything we had, but all our men got killed and we realized that we were already betrayed by many of our men. We had a lot of spies that we never knew about. Anyway, it was a losing war and we ended up getting kicked out."
I burst out laughing at the last one; I couldn't hold it in. It just sounded like a funny story to me. I know I shouldn't be laughing at someone's misfortune, but come on, they did all that to me only to end up like that. At that time, she is really a great player. She played them so much that they didn't know she still did that to them in this life. Only for them to be reborn and they ended up cherishing her again. How funny.
I saw that they were all looking at me, probably offended by the fact that I was laughing at them. But who cares? They didn't know how I died anyway. I was in so much pain up to my last moment and they think it's easy for me?
"I'm sorry for laughing. You can continue."
"After we were kicked out, we tried to get help from so many people, but everyone else turned their back on us and we realized that those people had been bought off, so we didn't have anything or even private money. All our assets were stolen. We lived in the streets until we got attacked and died."
When he said this, I could see the sadness in his eyes. The rest of them also looked down in shame. They probably didn't want me to know this because of how they suffered, but what shameful about it if it's an experience that they can go through to become stronger? Except, they went through the same experience and became more idiots.
"Did you not investigate what happened to you? Do you just accept your fate and live the new life designed for you?" I asked them.
Adonis sighed. "There was nothing we could do at that time. We didn't have any money. We were completely robbed clean. It was so clear that we were ambushed and we didn't know how it happened. We got abandoned by so many people including... Agatha."
I almost laughed at this one again, but I had to keep myself serious. What is wrong with me? Why do I keep laughing at important things? But I couldn't believe what I was hearing — she actually abandoned them?
They went through so much for her, and when she was supposed to support them she abandoned them. I did everything to help them in my past life. Even though they had money, I tried to warn them when I saw some unusual things in the pack. I tried to tell them about Agatha, but they never listened to me.
"I mean I did try to tell you all this, but you never listen to me. Anyway, it's not surprising that he abandoned you. You all deserved it."
My words were harsh, but they were the truth. They deserved every single thing they went through because they were completely idiots who didn't care about their lives. They gave themselves to someone who was selfish and left them at a time of need.
"You don't have to rub salt in the wound. We already know we did wrong things and we are trying to make amends," Dante told me calmly.
I scoffed. "You're trying to make amends? Don't you think it's a little bit too late to make that? I mean, you were given a new life to make things right, and the only thing you focused on was your princess. Have you ever thought that what happened to you might have something to do with her?"
They all looked at each other and then back at me. Don't tell me they didn't investigate that much to know that it was only someone close to them that could get close to their properties and everything else and give it to someone else.
"You really became full-time idiots as you got reborn? Your properties, documents, pack strategies... everything was stolen and seen in the hands of other people. I was already dead, so who do you think did this? Do you still think I killed someone or I betrayed the pack back then?"
They were completely silent, trying to listen to everything I was saying, but I was starting to get mad again. This wasn't fair at all. I went through so much in the past life. I was humiliated publicly and I was abandoned because I allegedly killed someone and also betrayed the pack by giving out the pack secrets to enemies.
I always knew that Agatha was framing me for things that I didn't do, but I never thought she would actually be daring enough to collude with other people to take things away from them. And they still defended her after they came back to this life. She abandoned them till they were dead. They never saw her again, yet they kept loving her while pretending to make amends to me too?
"I can't believe this. You all are fucking sick. Don't talk to me anymore. I don't want to be infected with stupidity," I warned them and stormed out of the room to leave them to their thoughts.
