Chapter 206

Chapter 206

The interrogation was over, but they still had no way to get back.

They made another trip to the scene of Cecilia's death, thoroughly checking the area to make sure there were no more clues before leaving.

Before this, they had already informed Katerina about the situation in the girls' dormitory, so Violette, Theodosia, and Nicolette were temporarily moved to another dorm.

Zoey and her team went to Cecilia's dorm room to start their inspection.

As soon as they opened the door, the room's decor was noticeably cleaner than a typical college dorm.

Their room even had a small balcony with great natural light.

The daily necessities of four people filled the room, giving it a very lived-in feel.

Robert asked Katerina, "Ms. Moore, which one was Cecilia's spot?"

Katerina frowned and pointed to the area near the balcony. "That one."

The forensic team looked over. There were two sets of bunk beds and four desks. Cecilia's area was the messiest and dirtiest.

Besides a notebook, there was a pile of random stuff.

The trash can and the floor around it was filled with garbage, all her doing.

The trash had been there for a while, emitting a sour stench, clearly not just from the past day or two.

The garbage also had a mix of clashing perfume and the sweet smell of e-cigarettes.

Zoey wrinkled her nose and pulled out a mask from her pocket.

'It is filthy! How could a girl live like this?' She thought.

She had seen Cecilia at the Mexican restaurant last night, her face clean and her outfit stylish. But behind the scenes, she was like this.

They had to check the belongings of the other three roommates as well.

The team divided the tasks and began their search.

Despite her disgust, Zoey chose to search Cecilia's belongings.

As the victim, her things were more valuable compared to the other three roommates.

Zoey put the notebook into an evidence bag.

She then started rummaging through the drawers.

Her rough movements caught Alexander's attention.

Alexander turned to look at her and asked, "How's it going?"

"Found nothing." She was still covered in the smell of garbage.

Her calm face showed a hint of frustration.

Charles felt a bit embarrassed. "Zoey, do you want to take a break?" He hadn't finished speaking when Zoey slumped for a second, then suddenly stood up. "I almost forgot! There's one more place to check!"

She took off her shoes and climbed up the ladder.

The curtain on the top bunk was open, probably for ventilation while she was out for class.

The blanket was unmade, casually thrown on the bed.

Socks, bras, and unwashed underwear were scattered around. Zoey was speechless, but since she was already up there, she couldn't leave empty-handed.

Wearing disposable gloves, she continued searching.

Under the blanket, she found a few unopened condoms.

She kept searching and found an e-cigarette and a bag of candy.

She dismantled the blanket and pillowcases.

Finding nothing else, she climbed down with the e-cigarette and other items.

After placing them in evidence bags, she suddenly remembered something.

During her search, she had found a few bottles of mouthwash in the drawer, mint-flavored.

She quickly retrieved them and added them to the evidence.

It was odd. Cecilia loved smoking and drinking and was generally messy. But why did she care about oral hygiene?

She couldn't figure it out for now.

Alexander was sampling Nicolette's makeup to take back.

Zoey walked over to him and asked, "Did you find any cameras?"

"No." Alexander immediately understood and asked, "You think Nicolette installed surveillance in the dorm?"

Zoey nodded. "Yeah, otherwise how would she know what the others were doing and retaliate?"

Alexander got it. "Hold on, I'll check more thoroughly."

The forensic team finished collecting evidence and turned the dorm upside down, looking for any suspicious containers of potassium cyanide.

They worked until 9 PM before Robert told them to head back.

In the car, they didn't rest, exchanging notes instead.

Zoey glanced at Katerina's statement, which was almost identical to what Theodosia and Violette had said.

Katerina thought the dorm had too much drama. From the start of the semester until now, there hadn't been a single peaceful day, that made her want to quit!

In the interrogation video, Katerina mentioned this, her face showing her breakdown. "I've been a teacher for years. I've never dealt with such difficult students. I'm so frustrated I want to quit. They cause trouble every day. I suggested they switch dorms! I would approve the application immediately! But they refused and started tormenting me! I was planning to quit. I couldn't wait for them to graduate. I was going crazy, but I didn't expect Cecilia to die so suddenly."

"I'm just a teacher. Teaching is my job, but I shouldn't have to deal with everything, right? I can't take it anymore. Now one of my students is dead. If I quit, which school would hire me? Officer Davis, tell me, what did I do wrong? I did everything I could, how did it come to this?"

"I'm upset about Cecilia's death too. I hated them, but I didn't want anything to happen to them now! Couldn't it wait until after graduation? You don't know, as soon as something happens, the school doesn't care why, they just pressure me. I'm going crazy. If you don't find the killer, I'll be the one to take the fall!" Katerina became more and more emotional, covering her face and crying. "I don't know what to do, Officer Davis, please, solve this case quickly."

"Alright, Ms. Moore, don't worry too much. We're here to handle this." Robert took a deep breath, empathizing with Katerina as a fellow worker.

Indeed, higher-ups never cared about the difficulties she faced at work.

Unless it was a natural disaster, she had to find her own solutions.

To push a gentle, shy teacher to this point, it showed how intense the conflict between Nicolette and Cecilia was.

Zoey got the gist and moved on to the next video, finding it was a male student.

The title said he was Cecilia's classmate.

At the start of the video, the boy nervously said, "I didn't know her well. I don't know what happened. I heard she died during gym class. I was in another class at the time, so I know nothing about it."
