47. Witch Hazel
47. Witch Hazel
Cassius POV
I knew exactly what had happened to Kimi when I saw her, I had seen it performed. It was a powerful spell. Venus herself used it in my presence before, as well as some of her friends, and I knew the creator of it had been my stepfather. It was a spell used in war to kill people. It would make all their blood leak out of the facial orifices of their bodies. There had to be a single cut somewhere on her body, and that’s where she had been hit. If we could heal the cut, then we could stop the bleeding.
I knew witch hazel was the best way to stop a dark magic. That I had learned from overhearing my sister and her coven talking. Sol was in deep distress over seeing her friend in this way. Quienten was quick getting the witch hazel. It was the raw plant which was good. I needed it. I stuck a bunch of the leaves in my mouth and began to chew them and told Sol “Find the cut on her body it will be small” she began to look for it.
When she located the small cut right above Kimi’s ankle, she pointed to it. I spat out the chewed-up leaves and began stuffing them all over the laceration that was on her ankle the bleeding that was pouring out of her nose and mouth and ears and eyes started to slow. “She’ll need to rest. She lost a lot of blood.” I spoke. Sol wrapped Kimi in the blanket that Quientins mate gave her and went to pick her up. I went to grab her so Sol wouldn’t have to carry her, I could see she too was injured but she visibly recoiled.
How could she think I was going to harm her? I had helped fight off the enemy that had come here and it wasn’t just any enemy. It was someone I knew it wasn’t my stepfather or Venus, but I did kill the witch that was responsible for this. Sol carried Kimi to her A-frame porch wondering what to do. She wouldn’t go inside. It was Kimi’s den though Kimi no longer had a mate so I didn’t know how detrimental it would be to her.
My mate wavered only for a second before opening the door and setting her down on the couch that she had and then she quickly exited telling her she check up on her in a few hours and that she needed rest. As we walked out, she looked enraged. She I know wanted to talk to Quientin to find out exactly what happened. I too wanted to know.
I followed a few steps behind my mate as she tracked down her cousin. “What the fuck happened?” she demanded the information from her cousin and Beta. “I don’t know there was a celebration of some kind. I saw her you know my mate, but then I saw Maven and Benjamin they didn’t recognize me. Apparently, Ben made this woman Venus his wife, but it wasn’t a goddess given mate”
I noticed he was rambling but I kept listening to Quientins explanation “None of the old pack recognized me, which was good. I thought I was in the clear I would just you know listen and report back. Tell you what I found out when I got back. You know we were on our way back but that that’s when I noticed someone was following us. “At this point, he took a deep breath. “I pulled the truck over and got out and we shifted and ran the rest of the way” I noticed the motion between him and the newcomer.
“And then we were here I didn’t know what to do. One of them was not a wolf, but she was keeping pace and I didn’t want to fight her or anything like that. I wouldn’t have minded fighting Maven then I could kill the bitch for what he did. But the unknown woman wasn’t a wolf, and the fact she was keeping pace was rather concerning.” He said. “Go to bed both of you. We’ll talk about this tomorrow and maybe when you had some sleep you will have better details. I need to speak with my mate.” Sol exclaimed by the way, she said the word mate it had me concerned. She was obviously not happy.
Once we were alone, she turned to me “Who was she?” was the first thing she asked I broke into an explanation that she was a witch. A friend of Venus saying “I have known her for a lot of my life, and she was deadly. Almost as bad as Venus and my stepfather, but she wasn’t good in any hand to hand combat. She always relied to much on magic. I just had to make contact to bring her down.”
“Did you kill her?” she asked, and I nodded. “You should’ve kept her alive. We could’ve questioned her and Maven got away.” She was clearly agitated about that. I knew who Maven was. He was the beta to Benjamin. “They’ll know where we are now we need to start to prepare” I looked at her and shock “Prepare? Prepare for what?” I asked. “Prepare to fight and defend no doubt your psycho stepsister’s is going to come after us now that she will know where we are. I mean she had you hunting me so why wouldn’t she come after us once Maven gets back. He’ll tell them exactly where we are and everything he can recall from being here. We need to be ready for that.”
I could tell she was stressed “How do you know they know where this is? How do you know Maven will even survive last time than I checked you are pretty lethal. For all we know he could be 3 miles down the road bleeding out from his injuries you gave him, you don’t know they’re coming here. You don’t need to prepare for war and even if it did come to that. I don’t think you will want to kill them all. You grew up with them.”
She stared at me at like I grew three heads “You don’t know what I want.” She turned around like she was going to walk away, but I grabbed her hand. She jerked it back. “Don’t you fucking touch me,” I didn’t release her hand. “What no thank you for killing a very powerful witch. She would very well kill you and everyone here on my sister’s orders. Are you not going to say thank you for that?” I stared at her big brown eyes. They were staring back into my blue ones. Then she lunged her lips landing on mine.
