42. Am I Redeemable?

42. Am I Redeemable?
Cassius POV

Sol was in a good mood. Quientin had come back today. She always missed him when he was gone. After dinner, we were going to have a talk. She wanted to hear my backstory about my life and be filled in, but I told her when we have gotten into this land that her father left her that she needed to wait a year, and then when a year was up, I would tell her everything.

The conversation with my sister Venus pushing me to have a new outlook. That maybe I was redeemable in some way that my past actions shouldn’t dictate what kind of future I should have. I doubted that she would be thrilled when she heard all that I had done where I had come from who my parents were. So, I had given myself a year to put it off. I gave myself a year to prove I was not like those I had been raised with, those that were so diffrent from myself and her.
A year I had taken to give myself time but it seemed the year was not just proving myself it was filled with me constantly being amazed by my little mate, Sol. She was incredible. She had given me everything I always wanted. She also could best me whenever we fought. She was a better hunter than I was, which surprise me. It wasn’t just her own skills that were good though she was great at teaching the others to hunt in formation.

Despite her still being generally very quiet and broody, she still was a good teacher. Hell she was a great leader. The way she did things was respectable, and she listened to everyone who came into the pack. She would take their suggestions most of the time, and even when training them to do something new she watched how they already did things to adjust them just slightly to be better and make their actions more functional.

She wasn’t like anyone I had ever met, and she certainly was someone I wished to always be around. She had wanted me to join the pack, officially swear to her and be the same as her as her equal, but I wouldn’t do it. At first it was because I didn’t want someone to have control over me like I’d always believe but in the past year, she was never bossy, when it came to matters. She only used that authority when it was a matter of making something happen for our survival.
Turns out the only time she became rather bossy is when she was drunk, and I had done something to piss her off, which had happened a year ago when we had gone to the fraternity party. Since then, she really had no reason to be pissy and was actually rather calm. She liked her space, but she was more than willing to help where anyone needed it.

It seemed like the rogues that Quientin had recruited, even didn’t mind that she was rather quiet, it’s surprised her. I watched from the sidelines and saw that she was always surprised when they didn’t complain about her, not wanting to be more involved. She would obviously offer to help them with whatever they needed and helped train them, but she never pushed anything on them and never used her Alpha voice to command blind allegiance to follow her requests. The 25 pack members simply followed her when she asked because she didn’t push things on them. When she told them to do things there was always an explination on how it benefited Blood Borne Packs survival, and they all went along with her.

It was rather nice to see this non-pushy approach; I certainly had never encountered it from an alpha. Maybe it’s because all the alphas I knew were men and it was their gender that made them that way. I didn’t know. All I knew was that she was generally very quiet intended to internalize things. And as that was her nature, I hope that it worked in my favor and that she would be willing to hear me out and look at all that I had accomplished and done this year and maybe just maybe she would be OK with me and my history.

I’d stayed true to my word with my sister and not reached out to her at all. Not since our last conversation, I had also not used the potion she gave me to mask my smell, though I did keep them. I thought maybe one day they may come in handy at some point not for myself, but for others maybe if they were hiding, I didn’t know the reason I just felt like I needed to save them.

Dinner went well. Everyone was coming to see Quientin since he had returned. The former rouges knew him, obviously seeing as he recruited them. Sol was an extra good mood having her cousin back she made time for Kimi. I knew Kimi was a real mess with everything that had happened, and I wondered if that was going to play into Sol’s decision when it came to our conversation.

Everyone ate and was in high spirits. But the time came for me and my mate to have our conversation. She took my hand as she so often did. Things certainly had changed with us. She seemed comfortable, and I had a worry that all that might change after we spoke. For a year, I shared her bed, been between her legs and enjoyed every second of it. She was soft and calm I loved everything she did. We were extremely compatible. It wasn’t hard or taxing between us.
It was like once we got into nature and away from the world of humans. Her no longer being around so many people she just got very calm. The command her father left her with was really I think the best thing for her. I don’t think she would’ve necessarily thrived having to stay with all those people. It seems she had social anxiety. Days when new people come, where the days where she was most on edge.

We finally reached our front porch. She sat down first, like me she preferred to be outside, so I took a seat next to her on the top step. “Quientin will be with the rest of the pack for a while, he won't come walking up, so don’t worry about anyone hearing us.” She said. She knew I wanted what I had to say to stay between us and it was nice to know that it would just be us having this conversation and that we wouldn’t be interrupted.
