CHAPTER 30
[THIRD PERSON’S P. O. V]
Levy put on a sad music while returning home with his car. His fingers were still trembling, even though he had his strongest grip over the steering wheel. He wasn’t crying anymore, not because the pain was gone, but because he had to act strong in front of Matt and also because he couldn’t let Reign know that knew he everything. His stomach churned with disgust, but he didn’t pay heed to that. It was high time for him to save his only innocent brother.
If Reign could do all this, he was a potential psychopath, sociopath, and god knows what. He’d been hatching a plan to hand him over to the police and he’d ask them for giving the kid mental help. Thinking about all that, he drove the car in the garage as he walked in the house and stood on the foyer. To his horror, there was no one to be seen inside the house. The entire place was eerily quiet. Something was wrong. His instincts said that he should be on his guard.
That’s when the front door closed itself with a slam, as if it had been waiting for Levy to enter. The sound of the door shutting, made the quarterback jump, frantically looking here and there. Nothing. He didn’t know the fuck was going on, and his biggest concern was Matt. Even he was nowhere to be seen.
“Levy Williams. Do as I tell you to. Don’t try to be smart. Else your brother Matt dies. Move on feet from where you are, the alarms will go off. Climb the staircase and get inside your room. Don’t defy me.” A disembodied voice came from a speaker, leaving the quarterback startled. Sweat drops were forming on his forehead, and he felt the small pocket knife tucked in his jeans, which he used to keep for safety.
He put his phone in the back pocket of his jeans, thinking that he might have to record what was going on, to provide it as an evidence against the killer. He gingerly climbed up the stairs and reached for the door that led to his room. He took a deep breath, as he kicked the door open with all the strength he had. The sight, left him agape.
Reign was tied to the bed post with two strong natural filament cords, and he was wheezing in pain. His was badly bashed up, scratches on the forehead, arms, legs, everywhere. The silky beach blonde hair was now matted with blood. Levy’s footsteps weren’t unfamiliar to Reign, his green eyes fluttered open, at the sight of the man he loved, entering the room. His mouth was tied up a white cloth wrapped around, as the wounded boy looked at his elder brother.
Levy ran to untie his brother as he flung himself at the painstricken boy. Who could do this? And how was he so stupid to believe that Reign had been the one behind the grisly murders? He was mentally slapping himself by now. He took notice of the ropes, as his strong fingers reached them, tugging at the stubborn material which wouldn’t break free.
The tensed quarterback then remembered that he had his pocket knife tucked somewhere in his jeans. He reached for the knife, but Reign’s horrid expression as if seeing someone at his back, made him withdraw his hand. Levy could hear footsteps approach them from the back as he whirled around to face the consequences of leaving his lover alone. Heck, believing that Reign could do this was enough of a crime.
He’d rather die than to see the boy he loved, pay for his mistrust. He promised that he wouldn’t let anything happen to Reign. He’d do right by his word, even if that needed him to die. Before he could analyze who the person was, the open mouth of a gun was pressed on his chest, shoving him backwards.
The familiarity of the killer’s face, made him stagger a few steps back, instinctively. Whereas, the killer looked much at ease, giving Levy a lopsided grin as he took out a remote from his shirt pocket. He pressed a button, which liberated a beep sound, as the door slammed shut. The quarterback’s eyes widened in shock, as realization dawned on him. “Let’s end this charade, shall we?”
