Chapter 752 Do You Want to Kill Me?
Chapter 752 Do You Want to Kill Me?
Zara, "He saw my fear and told me he would get revenge on you, and that he wouldn't hurt me."
"I didn't believe what he said, but I didn't dare make any rash moves, and I definitely didn't dare call the police. I was afraid that if he found out, he'd go crazy and kill me too. After all, he had already killed four people - one more wouldn't make much difference to him."
"So I racked my brain and came up with the idea of pretending to be an antisocial personality like you. As it turned out, my plan worked - Reid died. I originally wanted you both to destroy each other, but when I saw what was happening, I got scared. So when you told me to call the police, I didn't hesitate for even a second."
"After Reid died, I just wanted to live a normal life, so I left. That money was left to us by Keira. She said we still had other family members, and this money could be left for our family."
"In the end, since Reid was dead anyway, I took the money. I just didn't expect you'd actually help me launder it. This was actually really important for me, because right now this money is my only connection to everything that happened, and the police were already watching me, so I had no choice but to work with you."
"I never thought you'd actually kidnap me. Do you want to kill me?"
Victor frowned in thought, looking at her without speaking. Throughout this whole thing, she had always been a peripheral figure. You could say that even if the police caught her, they couldn't really do much to her.
And besides, everyone was dead - she could say whatever she wanted.
"No! You're lying!"
Zara panicked. She was afraid of torture - it would hurt too much. "I'm not!"
"From what you said earlier, I can tell that Keira had her own principles. Someone with that kind of moral code - after discovering those three women were killed by Reid, how could she possibly choose to go along with the plan?"
With that, Victor pulled out a statistical report. "I asked a friend to check your recent spending data."
Actually, he had Lucille investigate it.
"This shows spending of over eighty thousand dollars."
"But you said earlier you spent over a hundred thousand dollars. You did actually spend over a hundred thousand, but there's a gap of about seventy thousand dollars. Where is it?"
"Let me make a bold guess about the truth: You killed those three women! Keira accidentally found out. As a former police officer, she would never turn a blind eye to three innocent lives. She was going to arrest you or call the police. You didn't want to go to prison, so you killed her!"
"After killing her, you needed to frame someone else. Who would that be? I was the perfect choice!"
"As for how you erased your own traces, Keira must have taught you! Because your original plan was to frame me, Keira would definitely have taught you how to eliminate traces of your crime."
"Then you blamed everything on me."
"Wait! The diary! I get it now! Yes, you must have read Reid's diary! I remember now - why were there pages missing from the diary? Because you secretly read Reid's diary and knew he liked Keira!"
"Those missing pages must have had Reid's feelings for Keira written on them - you tore them out!"
"So after you accidentally killed Keira, to keep Reid from finding out and to be able to kill me, you spent over seventy thousand dollars using AI technology to fake being Keira, tricking Reid into thinking I killed her."
"I finally understand! I wondered why pages were missing from Reid's diary, and why there was hatred toward me in it, and why he called me a devil before he died. So that's it!"
"Obviously you didn't expect that Reid's feelings for Keira went beyond life and death. He started following me. That day, he noticed I was particularly interested in a diary. Since he kept a diary himself, he knew there was a good chance that diary contained my killing process, so while I wasn't at the shop, he stole it."
"Then he started copying the crimes according to the diary's contents. He was still following Keira's plan, except this plan became actual murder! Not disappearances!"
"And his reckless behavior actually aligned perfectly with your plan, because you wanted us to destroy each other all along!"
"After I discovered the diary was gone, I would definitely find Reid. You knew I had that ability. At that point, I asked for your help. You didn't dare refuse, because your earlier behavior was very strange - if you didn't help me and I dealt with Reid afterward, you wouldn't survive either."
"So you agreed. Of course, I think there's another reason - you wanted to watch in person, so if we both got hurt, you could finish us off."
"You just didn't expect things to happen so suddenly. When Reid hit you with that hammer, you felt the threat of death, so you chose to call the police."
"I thought of something else - I wondered why Reid hesitated when he was hitting you. It was because he realized it was you! But he didn't say anything. That's how it happened, right?"
Zara fell into silence, a long silence.
She lifted her head and said only one thing: "You're terrifying."
Victor felt no joy. "That note - did you leave it?"
"No. You've already guessed the whole story. What else do I have to hide?"
Victor laughed, very happily. "You know what? I'm kind of grateful I took you to see my father. Otherwise, no matter how much I suspected, I wouldn't have had any real evidence."
"My father paid for your education, and he must have visited you often. To you, he was like your father, making you feel paternal love."
"That's also why you felt bad after seeing my father, and even chose to turn yourself in."
"That note was left by you at my father's request! I finally found real evidence! You can't deny it. I finally discovered it. I'm not a psycho killer!"
"The one behind everything is my father - him!"
Zara looked at him, now completely calm. "Right now, you look no different from a psycho killer."
Victor shrugged and took out a medical kit to bandage her wounds. "I told you, I'm not a psycho killer. So I'm letting you go. Of course, if you want to call the police on me, go ahead."
With that, Victor left the room, leaving Zara alone, stunned.
Victor gave the recording of the interrogation to Lucille. With this, he believed she could find more clues.
And now, he needed to have a good talk with Blake.
With that, he stood up from the wheelchair. Though it hurt a bit, he could walk.
As soon as he got home, he heard terrible news - Blake was hospitalized.
Barbara told him with a grief-stricken face, "Your father has late-stage ALS. He doesn't have much time left."
Victor laughed coldly. He had just discovered the truth, and now Blake was dying? How ridiculous.
He likes pretending so much?
Then let's play along!
With that, he took Barbara to the hospital.
Looking at the medical records the doctor handed him, he didn't believe a single word.
After Barbara left the room, he stood by Blake's hospital bed. "Father, it's just the two of us. Do we still need to pretend?"
"I've found your flaw! You psycho killer!"
Blake looked at him, smiling in his eyes. He opened his mouth, murmuring.
But Victor understood.
Blake said: See you at home tonight.
He didn't understand what it meant, but he decided not to go anywhere.
After Barbara completed the discharge procedures, Victor brought Blake home in a daze.
Then Barbara took out a syringe from the bedroom and injected it into Blake's neck. His whole spirit instantly recovered.
Blake stood up and looked at Victor. "Come with me."
The two went to the cellar. Victor was confused but still followed him in.
Inside the cellar, the murder weapons lay quietly.
"Victor, you go first."
Victor looked at him.
"Since you want to hear a story, let me tell you one."
