Chapter 751 The Agreement

Chapter 751 The Agreement

Zara, "Anyway, it was a while back when Keira suddenly said she'd found the 921 killer and asked us to help. We made this agreement after the killer disappeared, and I never thought after all these years she'd still remember."

Victor, "Didn't you hesitate at all?"

Hearing Victor's question, Zara laughed bitterly,

"No, not at all. Why would I hesitate? I'm like this because of you. I had a happy family, and it was you! You, this murderous maniac, destroyed everything! Tell me, should I have hesitated?"

Victor fell silent. He really wanted to say the killer wasn't him.

Seeing Victor's silence, Zara sneered, "Still pretending? What? Can you actually feel normal human emotions?"

She wasn't as scared now as before. Past sorrows had made her fearless.

"After Keira found us, she told us about her plan. She said since the police couldn't find evidence, we'd create it ourselves. I asked her how, and she said since so much time had passed, the old cases probably wouldn't yield any clues. We needed to make the 'murders' happen again."

"Kill people?"

Zara glanced at Victor, showing annoyance at being interrupted,

"I had the same question then. I said if we're going to kill someone, why not just kill you? That would be straightforward. But she refused. She said we didn't need to kill anyone, just make people disappear, keep them locked up temporarily without hurting them, until we found evidence of your crimes. Then we'd let them go."

Victor frowned, "Then why did those people die?"

Zara sighed, "Luck wasn't on our side. Something went wrong. Reid, who was watching the three women, found out one of them had escaped. He called us first to tell us what happened, then went after her himself."

"We knew how serious this was. If the woman got away, we'd all be finished. What revenge would we get then?"

"By the time Keira and I got there, we only saw three bodies. Reid was sitting silently next to them."

"That was the first time I'd seen a scene like that. It was completely different from when I saw my father's body. Fear, regret, all kinds of negative emotions hit me. I admit I was scared."

"It made me realize how ridiculous my earlier thoughts were. Kill you and be done with it? Could I do that? I always thought I could, until I saw those bodies. Then I knew I couldn't. I never could."

Victor's brow furrowed deeply, "You're saying Reid killed all of them?"

"Yes." Zara nodded, looking at Lucille. "Keira and I didn't actually know what happened in between. I was too scared then. I demanded to know why Reid killed them."

"Reid said the woman didn't actually escape, she just pretended to. He ran out looking for her and realized something was wrong. How could a woman run faster than him?"

"So he went back and caught that woman trying to free the other two. He tried to control her again, but during the struggle, there was an accident. He killed her by mistake, and the other two women saw it."

"He explained to us that he was too scared then, scared of being exposed. In the heat of the moment, he thought of killing them all to silence them."

Hearing this, Victor slapped the table and asked with a frown,

"I went to the scene. The victims died from blunt force trauma, but their bodies showed signs of severe violent beating. That doesn't look like simple silencing, more like torture. Didn't you suspect anything then?"

This was something he'd specifically asked Lucille about before planning this operation.

Zara nodded, "I didn't suspect anything because I was too scared then to think that much. But Keira did suspect. She asked about it too, Reid's explanation."

Victor frowned, not knowing why Zara suddenly stopped. Had she thought of something? He didn't press further, just waited. During this time, he noticed Zara becoming even more frightened.

Fear flickered in Zara's eyes. After a moment, she continued,

"Reid's explanation was that they were people, they moved, ran, struggled. Because it was his first time killing, he panicked too much, so he just swung the hammer wildly. He didn't remember how many times he swung it, until they were completely dead."

Victor frowned. The explanation was too far-fetched, but there was some logic to it. After all, people in extreme panic can do anything.

"And then?"

"Then we were silent for a long time. Suddenly Keira said since it had already happened, we'd turn ourselves in after you were caught. She walked over to check on the dead. I thought she was checking if they could still be saved."

"Keira said the way they died matched the 921 case victims' deaths, so we might as well go with it."

"But then, when her back was to Reid, he suddenly attacked her. He said Keira used to be a cop, and he was worried she'd report it. He's a man after all, much stronger than a woman. Plus with the surprise attack, he quickly controlled her."

"Keira fought back desperately, but she was no match for Reid. She looked at me, wanting me to help, but I didn't dare. I was scared."

"Then, then Reid beat Keira to death."

"I wanted out, but Reid said things had gone this far, we had to keep going with the plan. I knew I couldn't quit. Reid's eyes were too terrifying. I don't know if it was psychological, but I felt like if I said I refused, he'd kill me the next second."

"Then we dealt with the bodies and buried them at 'Starlight Avenue number forty-five.'"

Victor nodded, signaling her to continue.

"After that, I noticed Reid was getting more and more wrong. Because he killed them, Keira was dead, and I seemed to have done nothing. I don't know why, maybe he didn't want to die? Or maybe other reasons, I don't know."

"I told myself I was overthinking it, scaring myself, until he stopped following our plan. Then I was sure he'd changed, and that made me very uneasy."

"I don't know if I was overthinking, but from then on, every time I saw his eyes I couldn't help but feel terrified. I was scared. I didn't want to die, so I needed to find someone to protect me, or rather someone to stop him. And the only person who could stop him was you. Because you're a psycho killer, you can definitely kill him!"
