Chapter 749 Debate

Chapter 749 Debate

Victor, "I don't understand what you mean."

"Get someone else. She won't work."

Victor let out a cold laugh and said nothing. He didn't want to waste time on meaningless arguments.

Seeing Victor's attitude, Blake stayed silent for a long time, as if giving up. He changed the subject,

"How did you find her?"

"She was working as a server at the fast food place across from my shop."

Blake nodded, as if recalling something, "Makes sense. She has no education, can only make a living this way. What about now? Is she still working there?"

Hearing Blake's words, Victor's eyes narrowed. He decided to take the initiative,

"No, she quit."

"Why? Wasn't the job going well?"

"No, it's because she found some money, quite a lot actually, two million dollars."

Blake frowned, puzzled, "How is that possible? Who carries that much cash nowadays? Besides, how could a girl like her even carry two million dollars?"

Victor smiled,

"Right? Well, she could carry it, with a suitcase. But that's some incredible luck, almost like someone deliberately gave her the money."

Blake frowned at him and asked, "You suspect I gave her the money?"

Victor said sarcastically, "I didn't say that."

Blake looked at him,

"You think I gave her the money. If you already knew about my relationship with her, that would be a reasonable guess."

"But when you brought her back, I noticed you didn't know about our relationship. So why would you think that? That doesn't make sense."

"Unless you just thought of it on the spot. But combined with you suddenly bringing her home, this shows you suspected I gave her the money all along. The reason you brought her back was actually to test me."

"Can you tell me why you had this idea?"

Victor looked at Blake, and after a long pause he finally spoke,

"Dad, we're so alike, even our way of thinking is the same."

"Because you're my son."

Victor stayed silent. Blake's words just now made him feel afraid. Just like he said, they were too alike, which meant everything he did might not escape Blake's notice, and all his efforts might lead nowhere.

He couldn't accept this outcome. He tried to encourage himself - it's okay, maybe this was also his opportunity. Blake understood him, but he could also understand Blake.

"Dad, do you think I've changed?"

"Yes."

Victor nodded, then his expression suddenly became serious,

"I'm not sure if I've really changed, but I'm certain you've changed. Listen to the smugness in your tone - why so smug?"

Then Victor showed a crazed expression,

"Your son is a complete murderer! Does that make you proud?"

Victor acted so crazy because deep down he was incredibly excited!

Finally!

Finally he found Blake's weakness!

But Blake's next words completely threw him into an ice pit, making him feel bone-chilling cold.

"Does this make you feel better? Or does this better match what you suspected?"

He understood what Blake meant, which is why he was so terrified. He now deeply hated his own perceptiveness. If only he could be a bit more clueless, unable to understand Blake's meaning, he would feel much better.

But he couldn't. Blake's meaning was obvious - he was clearly telling Victor that he knew what Victor was thinking.

This feeling of being seen through wasn't pleasant. Most importantly, if Blake could say this, he must have his reasons - reasons Victor couldn't refute.

Blake continued,

"You want to turn fantasy into reality. You think the reason you kill is because of me, or rather, I'm the one who killed them, but I hypnotized you into thinking you did it yourself."

"From the results, you've clearly succeeded. Even the police believe it."

"But!"

"This is all your own fantasy. Even if it seems flawless and logical to outsiders, there will always be discrepancies with reality for you."

"You can fool others, but you can't fool yourself. So to fool yourself, you can only engage in so-called 'fantasy' again."

"What better candidate than me, a well-known psychologist?"

Blake turned his head to look out the window, saying quietly,

"Psychologists - thanks to TV shows and movies, this profession has become increasingly mysterious and powerful, and in most works, psychologists are the villains."

"I can understand that, because the nature of this profession means it won't be well-liked. Nobody likes the feeling of having their mind read."

"So you've stopped trusting me, even started suspecting me."

Listening to Blake's words, everything seemed so logical. He couldn't accept that he was the one who killed those people, so he swapped his identity with the driver's. That way, the driver was the killer, and he was just an informed victim.

But because he did everything himself, there would definitely be flaws. To make everything match his 'suspicions,' he started suspecting Blake. It seemed like that was really the case.

No! No! Something must be wrong!

He couldn't accept this explanation!

He looked at Blake, asking word by word, "You still haven't answered my question. Why were you smug?"

"If I didn't act a bit smug, would you have gotten so worked up?" Blake asked back.

"Like I said, I don't know what you experienced that made you not want to kill anymore, but I don't care, and I won't dig into it, because the result is good. What could be better than you not killing anymore?"

Victor frowned at Blake, puzzled, "So what? What's the point of all this?"

Blake didn't answer. After a long silence, he finally spoke,

"What's the point... this result might be cruel for you. Are you sure you want to know?"

Victor stared at Blake intently, his eyes showing clear determination.

Blake nodded,

"To give you peace of mind. If you think I'm the so-called 'real killer,' then I'll be that 'real killer.'"

Victor's eyes widened, looking at Blake in disbelief. Blake's meaning was crystal clear - he was willing to become the 'real killer' for Victor's sake, just hoping Victor wouldn't suffer so much anymore.

Victor stood there stunned for a long time. He didn't believe it, couldn't believe it, because once he believed it, it would mean he was the real culprit.

A trick! This must be Blake's trick!

Blake was doing this to make him doubt himself, and then conclude that he himself was the real killer.

It must be like that! Can't be wrong! It must be like that!

Victor took a deep look at Blake. He wouldn't believe anything Blake said now. He would find evidence himself. He believed he would definitely find evidence.
