Chapter 26 Chapter 28
Chapter 28
Iris POV
"Where is she?" My father growled, pacing around the room angrily. His beta Napheal stood by the corner typing angrily on his phone.
I stood frozen in my spot, not wanting my father to notice me. I didn't want him to pass his aggression on me, I'm going through a lot right now to handle his critics.
Here I am, at my sister's wedding. The wedding whereby she gets married to my mate. I know I said I would let everything play out the way they want to, but the way they are playing out is hurting me even more.
After this wedding now, I would be the next person getting married. I don't even....I trailed off in my head as my father shouted angrily at me.
"Where is your sister you dim wit." I jumped back scared because of the shout and the intense gaze he was giving me.
"I... don't...know..." I stuttered out, lowering my gaze.
"Of course you don't, I have to fucking do everything myself." He barked, glaring daggers at me.
"Napheal," he shouted and Napheal quickly ran closer to him.
"Yes Alpha," he responded.
"Find out where Vickie is, I have been trying to call her but..." My father started to say but the creaking of the door cut him off.
Standing at the doorway is Vickie, who happens to be late for her own wedding.
"Where the hell have you been?" My father yelled and Vickie jumped back startled.
"I...I...was..."
"You were what? Why aren't you dressed yet? What have you been doing in the bride's room since?" My father bombarded her with questions.
"I can't get married father." She blurted out.
"Say what now?" My father barked.
"I can't get..."
"I heard what you said, you fool." My father cut her off, marching towards her angrily. He slammed the door closed, pulling her by the hand further into the room.
"You will go back now and get dressed. And I will walk you down the aisle." My father seethed, stressing every word.
"I can't father." She whispered.
My father looked like he was about to say something else but before he could say it, she spoke again. "I'm pregnant." She said, yanking her hand away from his grip and stepping away from him.
I looked at her shocked, not knowing if to believe her or if she was just saying this so she wouldn't get married.
"You can't be serious now Vickie, how the fuck did you get pregnant? How do you know you are pregnant?" My father spat.
"I went to the hospital yesterday and the doctor told me I'm almost three months pregnant. I was going to go ahead with the wedding but my conscience was really bugging me." She explained.
"What?" I gasped.
Is she being for real right now? "Almost three fucking months pregnant?" I screamed in my head.
"You must be joking." My father concluded, turning away from her.
"I'm not father, here is the result." She said, handing out the result for him. He didn't turn back but his beta stepped forward to take a look at the letter.
His facial expression remained the same even after reading the result. I wanted to step closer and take a look but it felt as if I was glued to my spot.
Napheal stepped closer to my father and whispered something in his ear.
My father turned back, boring holes in her head. "You are such a disgraceful child. I regret ever calling you my child." He spat but Vickie didn't flinch.
She was prepared, she knew what she was going to encounter if she told him. But why didn't she tell me yesterday? We were together all through, I didn't even know when she went to the hospital.
My father was clenching and unclenching his fists. "I will be back." He said leaving the room, with his beta following closely behind him.
"You are pregnant?" It was the first question I asked as soon as the door closed.
Vickie sighed, rubbing her stomach. "Yes." She breathed out.
"Why didn't you tell me yesterday?" I asked.
"I didn't know how to, I was ashamed or maybe scared you would look down on me." She replied.
"Woah, when? How? Who is the father?" I questioned all in one go.
"Remember my ex, Colby?" She asked, looking at me expectantly.
"Yeah, what happened?" I answered.
"He is the father. He is the last man I had something to do with." She whispered.
"What?" I yelled.
"That cheater? That freaking woman beater Vickie? How could you allow this to happen?" I added still yelling.
"Lower your voice Iris, I don't want father to hear." She said, holding her hand up.
I nodded my head, calming myself down.
"We had sex a day before I called off things between us. And I didn't even know about the pregnancy like I said until yesterday." She clarified.
"How couldn't you have known Vickie? Were your periods regular?" I asked, in a calm tone.
"Yeah, that's the thing that marvels me the most. My flow has been regular, no late periods or anything. Told the doctor about it but he said it's just implantation." She responded.
I nodded my head but I haven't fully processed what she said. I'm still wondering what is going to happen with the wedding now.
"If I had known earlier, I would have gotten rid of it." She breathed out, covering her face with her hands.
"No Vickie, that is murder. How can you get rid of a child that has done nothing to offend you." I mumbled, finally moving away from my spot and going over to her.
I pulled her into a hug. Her hands tightened around me, and I felt something wet touching the exposed skin around my shoulder.
She was crying.
"It's okay Vickie, I don't blame you. And we will get a way out of this without having to get rid of the baby." I reassured her.
She sniffled about to say something when the door opened and my father stepped in, with his beta closely behind him.
He looked at the both of us for a minute as if trying to process what he was about to say, he hissed and then he spoke.
"You are taking your sister's place, Iris."
