Chapter 42; Grip Of The Past
Matthew went straight to Aunt Maurice and the visitor on the side of the house after leaving Cheska's room.
"Welcome back... But what about the women? What are they doing?" Maurice asked Matthew when he was going to open the balcony.
"Cheska is resting in her room, and Eunice stays behind for her..." Matthew spoke up. Then he sat down and looked at the man looking at the moon while standing. It's non-other than Connor- The Alpha of the Shadow pack.
"Uh-huh, that kid... We haven't seen each other in a few weeks, but she chose not to see me instead of greeting me?!" When he faced Maurice and Matthew, Alpha Connor stood up for himself.
"Ha Ha Ha! This is how kids act these days. Also, they picked their friends over their parents. Maurice said, then poured Matthew a glass of scotch and gave it to him.
Connor signed while sitting next to Maurice. "I didn't know that being a parent was harder than being a leader. If Halter was still alive, we might feel the same way. He replied while gulping down the drink he was holding.
When Matthew saw Maurice's sad face, he frowned. "Who are you? Is there something I'm not seeing?" he asked, looking right at her.
"Connor and I have been friends for a long time... Before he became the alpha of the Shadow Pack, he was the beta of the Wings Pack, where I was the Luna and my husband, Halter Mcbride, was the alpha. Maurice said this with a big grin. Even though she didn't let that smile reach her eyes.
Connor gave her a nod and a smile. "Yeah. Before, things were easy for me. I could only count on Halter. But everything changed when he died.
Matthew couldn't help but notice that Connor's eyes showed some kind of emotion. "I remember the story you told me when you were young... You mean Halter Mcbride, right?"
"Yes, I still remember him," Connor said, looking thoughtfully at Maurice. "Halter is the best alpha and father for his child."
"That's true..." Maurice agreed with her and took a sip of her drink. She had never forgotten Halter in the past year. Because she had never found him before... Halter Mcbride disappeared like a bubble.
Cheska's other self, who is still awake, is sitting on the floor next to the wall, holding a bottle of beer, and listening to the conversation outside.
She had a tight hold on the bottle as she thought about her father. That night, when the terrible thing happened, Cheska's other self finally woke up. She couldn't remember what had happened, though.
Halter Mcbride would still be with me if they hadn't taken me. Cheska uttered to her mind.
[Cheska has trouble dealing with her feelings for some reason, which is why her alter-ego often wakes up and takes over her body.]
Hmm. Now is my time. I will learn what happened to me in the past! Then she got up and walked back to her room while thinking about the plan she had come up with.

The next day, Cheska got up early, which was different from the day before. She got up right away to run. "This body is too weak," she muttered under her breath as she walked, squeezing her arm.
She meets Eunice on her way out. Cheska, on the other hand, acts as if she doesn't see her.
Eunice said, "Hey!" in a low voice.
Cheska had to stop moving and turn to look at her. She asked, "What?"
What did you do last night? Did my dad try to find me?" Eunice said something quietly as she looked around.
"Why do you want to know? Why don't you ask your father if he's looking for you?" Cheska answered in a joking way.
Cheska caught Eunice's eye. She knew right away that something was off, but she couldn't figure out what it was. "Have you forgotten that I didn't come home because of you?" Eunice didn't care about Cheska's lack of interest because she was worried about her father.
"I didn't see him last night, so I don't know how to answer your question." Cheska changed the way she talked right away.
"If anyone asks, tell them you saw me come home last night. Okay?" Eunice made a croaking sound and quickly turned around and went into her room.
Cheska raised her eyebrows again when Eunice was no longer in her line of sight. "Huh! Since she smells like someone else, Eunice will be caught if she meets her father now. Cheska thought for a while and then went to the kitchen. Before she started running, she decided to get something to eat.
Cheska cooks for the first time. She makes toast while she cooks eggs, ham, and bacon.
"Wow! Baby, are you feeling bad? When Maurice saw Cheska in the kitchen, she yelled out in shock.
"Hey, mother... "Sit down, I'm almost done," Cheska said with energy.
"Was something wrong with you? Maurice said, "You seem to be in a good mood," and her mother did as her daughter asked. She sat down to wait for the food to be brought to her.
"Hmm... is it weird? Cheska said, "I just want to serve you," and she put the food on the table. Then she got the fresh juice out of the fridge and gave it to her mum.
"It's a little strange, but I like it... "Thank you," Maurice said with a laugh, then took a bite. "By the way, we have to go to the pack-house..."
Cheska took a bite before answering. "Why? Did the head of the council have a problem with what happened last night?"
"Why? What did you do last night? Maurice was upset right away.
Cheska found out she didn't know what happened last night when she saw how shocked her mother was. "Nothing... " "I thought you were talking about last night's dinner," she said, gulping down the juice. "I'll go first, Mom. Let's get together at the packing shed."
Cheska left quickly, and Maurice could only shake her head as she watched her go. She was surprised by Cheska's change, but she was happy about it. "It looks like my daughter is getting ready to be a good Luna."
Cheska, on the other hand, moved quickly to the back of the house. She said with a sneer, "Hmm... I miss running with my wolf." She began to take her clothes off.
"You want to run?" Can I join you?"
Cheska stopped taking off her underwear and turned quickly to the person who had said that.
