Chapter 195

Chapter 195
Damian

Stormy nodded her head. The egg prevented the elves from returning to the well. It allowed her to manipulate their deceased souls back into their bodies and infuse them with her shadow magic. It animated them but as she cannot truly create life, it left them mindless. They are no more than abominations.

“What would happen if we removed the egg or better yet, if we destroyed it?” Damian asked as he prepared to draw his sword.

Removing the egg would allow the souls to flow as they should. I suspect it would cause a large influx of pregnancy through out our world. Stormy looked thoughtful for a moment. She held her hand out over the vessel again like she was trying to get more psychic information.

I’m not sure if we should destroy the egg until after we have defeated Mara. I wouldn’t want any of the magic inside to return to her. Stormy gestured with enthusiasm. Damian paused. He hadn’t stopped to consider the ramifications of getting rid of the vessel. His focus was only on making sure that whatever evil plan that Mara had devised would be foiled.

Damian took a deep calming breath and walked to the egg. He was careful not to step into the blue glowing streams. As he got closer to Mara’s creation, he could feel the dark energy radiating for it. Part of him was glad Stormy had decided not to break the egg. The rest of him dreaded even touching it.

He felt Stormy surround him with her shield before he lifted the egg carefully from the Well. He instantly felt the air around him lighten. Damian touched the vessel as little as possible as he cared it to the back of the cave. He placed the egg in a outcropping behind two large boulders in the darkest corner of the room, for safe keeping. Stormy cast a barrier and a illusion spell over the area to create a secure location for the time being.

As soon as the egg had been removed from the well, the entire cavern lit up. The scent of spring filled the room, while exotic flowers in an array of colors sprang from the walls. The ceiling started to sparkle like stars and a huge magical wind blew. The cavern went from a cold damp wasteland to a beautiful oasis in the blink of an eye.

Stormy gasped. Her eyes went wide and she looked at her mates with a huge smile. I can feel them, my new children! I can feel that the future has already changed. The world no longer feels as if it is dying. All I feel now is new life. She clapped her hands and jumped up and down excitedly. Damian pulled her into his arms for a quick hug

“That is wonderful news, but if we don’t stop Mara, she will just manipulate the Well again. I have already lost my brother, I cannot let her take anything else from me.” David said angrily.

You are right, we need a permanent solution. Mara cannot be trusted. Stormy signed. She bit her lip in frustration and Damian knew that the idea of ending Mara was ripping Stormy apart.
We might as well get it over with. She motioned for the rest of her mates to follow her deeper into the cave. She took them through a small hidden door at the back of the cavern that housed the Well. Damian could tell by the way she was stomping and biting her lip that she was determined to finally put an end to this conflict.

As they neared what looked like a door, a large contingent of shadow warriors seemed to be blocking the entrance. Stormy immediately began to blast them with fireball and after fireball. David used his flame breath while Damian lobbed his shadow balls into the fray.

The guards were taken out so quickly they barely had time to react. Damian used his shadow power on the bodies to clear the door way. The doorway was dark and it was impossible to see what was in the other side. Damian hated walking in blind and stuck close to Stormy’s side as they stepped into the next room.

As his eyes adjusted to the artificial lighting, he saw a bolt of Mara’s dark power bounce off of the shield bubble that Stormy had placed around them. He glared at Mara as Stormy drew her sword.

Let’s finish this Stormy signed.

Mara threw her head back and laughed. She also drew her sword as shadow warriors rushed into the room and surrounded them. “Attack” she cried as the warriors rushed towards the Kindred.
Damian, Drew, Dean and David took up defensive positions as Stormy and Mara began to fight. Damian saw the flash of swords out of the corner of his eye as he began to combat the enemy. He lost sight of his mate as he fought against the never-ending wave of enemy.

He cut down wave after wave of warriors as they poured in from both sides of the room. The space was so small it had become impossible for him to use his magic. Instead, he was forced to rely on his sword and his claws for the hand to hand, like he had been trained.

When the last of the shadow warriors fell, Damian turned just in time to see Stormy and Mara both covered in blood. Stormy managed to block one of Mara’s thrusts and instead plunged her sword into her sister’s chest. It went almost all the way through the Frost queen’s body, all the way to the sword’s hilt.

Mara went to her knees and grasped at the sword. Even though Stormy wasn’t the one injured, she dropped to the ground with her sister. She reached out and wiped a drop of blood from the corner of Mara’ s mouth. Stormy’s expression was unreadable but Damian knew they both were aware that the wound was fatal.

Stormy cradled Mara as she laid her into the ground. Mara’s eyes fluttered closed as tears began to stream down her face. David, who always seemed to understand Stormy the best, dropped to his knees and pulled her into his arms. Damian watched helplessly as they cried together.
